The holiday weekend is here! But the sun and warmth are gone replaced by clouds and rain. The tourists are out in force though, as we had breakfast out at 8 am and it was as busy as a weekend day.
We tried out the inflatable kayak the other day - failure. It is too light to stay straight in the water and the sides are so filled up with air that it was difficult for someone short like me to paddle. Also the seats were not hefty enough for someone larger like Mike. And finally, deflating it was a pain. It will be donated to a family with kids who may enjoy it. Good try but I like my real kayaks much better. There is a folding kayak which probably is more like a regular one but at a cost of about $1000 I am not interested.
I am not sure what we will do today with the rain. Maybe find a good movie to watch.
Have a safe and healthy Friday!

Happy Friday...
Hoping all is well with Ocean Diane.
Our weather has been absolutely lovely the past several days. Mid to upper 70s with a breeze. There is not a cloud in the sky and the air looks and smells clean. I love this type of weather. I know we need rain, but I can't help but enjoy this weather. We don't get rain here in the summer anyhow, so I'm going to delight in the cooler than usual dry summer.
USPS sucks sometimes! I have an Amazon package the carrier would not deliver because of the construction. The workers knew it was coming and agreed to take it from the carrier. The carrier didn't even attempt to deliver. Just drove right on by. Now I have to go pick it up. Boooooo....
The water weight is slowly being shed. I'm back down to a weight that is more palatable, but still a few tenths over my upper limit.
Diamond D. Thank you so much for your perspective yesterday. I really appreciate your words and viewpoint. I think perhaps I need to consider where my eating disorder/dysfunctional eating and the chronic disease of obesity cross over, how they are different, but how they influence one another. I have been so focused on the eating disorder I have not been looking at the whole picture of my obesity. Like Diabetes, obesity has many contributing factors, too. Diabetics have to balance so much to keep blood sugars and insulin in check. For the diabetics I know, it's really become routine - a part of staying alive. I would like to emulate that same type of thinking and behavior with my eating.
Construction is quiet this morning.... Not sure what is going on, but I will check. They got a lot done in the front yesterday and said they would finish up the front walks today. That's not what they are doing. I swear the company owner has ADD! It would be nice to see at least one project totally completed!
Hoping to have a BBQ with my brother on the 4th and watch fireworks from his backyard. While the rotary club is foregoing the annual 4th of July pancake breakfast and parade, our town is having fireworks at the outdoor concert amphitheater for the first time in over 10 years. My brother lives in close view of the venue, so we should be able to see the fireworks easily.
Must start the day in earnest!
Tomorrow morning, DC is on his way to NY for a couple of weeks! I'd much rather deal with hurricane Elsa ! It will be so wonderful to relax !! I won't totally let down my guard, because I have no way of knowing where he is 100%, but I know he needs to check on the house, as the initial sale fell through.
With four days of rain predicted PRIOR to Elsa, I did the back lawn today, as it is growing like crazy. Sadie and I did our whole big walk today, because she did not spaz out on birds or cats. We walk at first light, and she can't be barking like a maniac. If I can redirect, we continue, but if she loses it, we turn around and go home. Today Sadie girl got lots of praise AND treats at the end.

BFF arrived yesterday for an extended stay. Today we went to the beach. :) We are now all getting ready to go to a good friends birthday party.
Peps, So happy some of my thoughts were helpful. Accepting the fact that obesity is a disease has helped me let go of a lot of shame. Not everyone's hormones drive them to eat when stressed etc. They don't get a dopamine hit from cake like I do. There is a head game and mental health aspect, but there are the physical aspects too, how our bodies and entire endocrine system react to food.
That really is an interesting perspective, I need to mull on it as well. I definitely look for that dopamine from food when I am stressed. Thin SIL doesn't eat at all when she is stressed but turns to alcohol. So our coping mechanisms (both not so healthy) are very different. I wish exercising or housecleaning worked for me...
