Last day of June! Summer always goes so fast. Cape Cod is so beautiful this time of year even with the heat (though it is a good 15 degrees less than most of Massachusetts). And this year, unlike last, everything is open. The Cape Cod baseball league games are nightly during the week and there are some outdoor concerts so there is a lot to do.

I spent most of the morning at the beach near Mike's yesterday and i have to admit that the beach itself is much more picturesque than the ones in my town. But my town has more restaurants and a cute downtown, one of only about 4 on Cape Cod (Provincetown, Chatham, Hyannis and Falmouth). Poor Mike spent 4 hours in 90 degree heat sealing his deck. He looked a little shaky when he was done but revived after a cold shower and splitting a lunch at a nice little restaurant on the water.

Today I think we will try out the inflatable kayak on my pond (early before it is too hot), then go to the beach. It will be too hot to do much else this afternoon.

Oh, and Cecily, we are really enjoying Line of Duty. We have watched 3 and are already hooked. Thanks for the suggestion.

Have a safe and healthy Wednesday/hump day!

We're off to kayak in a few minutes too. Warm here, but a nice breeze.

My war with the Asian beetles appears to be futile. I was showing my husband my bucket of dead beetles, and he shook the fence. 100s of beetles, if not a 1000 flew out. To really kill them effectively, I would probably need to spray the vines with a pesticide. I don't want to do that. I might buy a clean sprayer and spray it down with soapy water. I don't know if that would kill enough of them...

Going to have a full house this weekend. Much to do! But first, some time on the lake ....

It was like confetti in the air as they flew up and then resettled again on my vines.

I'm counting the seconds until my 11 AM initial session with my trauma therapist. I really want her to be what I need. DC is still in the area and giving me more challenges than I need. It is not in me to turn tail and run, but that is an open option. I REALLY appreciated your support and energy yesterday !! TX !!

I realize they're not worth all we would hope, but is your restraining order still in effect?

Liz, so glad you're liking the show!

DD, that is an insane number of Japanese beetles. Good gracious! I might get 50 to 100 the whole season on my veggies (mostly the green beans). They do make lure traps if that is something you want to try. Just hang it away from what you don't want them to eat as you don't want to draw them to your flowers.

DianeO, I'm sorry you're having to deal with all of this.

The sun just came out after endless fog! Tomorrow my dad and I are flying to VA for the day to see my aunt. She is the one I've talked about over the years. She is in late stage dementia and no longer can walk, talk or feed herself. But she recognizes people, so we're going to visit. I understand we can only stay for 30-45 minutes. I can only imagine how hard it will be for my dad. He tears up when she comes up in conversation. It's no way to live for such a previously vivacious person, so if there is mercy in this world, I hope she won't have to endure this much longer.

My eating still is terrible. I need to work on that. I didn't buy bingey foods when I went to the store today. Small steps.

Anyway, that's what I've got. Hope you all are well!
