Last day in Aruba. Yesterday we had our required Covid tests (negative) and went on a sunset sail. Very fun and there was a great sunset which isn't always the case this time of year. Today we will go to the beach (surprise), turn in the car, and pack. We will go to the restaurant at the resort next to us for dinner.
Starting Sunday it is time to get back into planned, healthy eating. I have done okay during the days here but I have eaten richer foods than usual at night and wine has been part of every evening. Thank goodness for VSG keeping portion sizes down!
Have a safe and healthy Friday!

Weight still eek worthy
Last night we went to dinner at a friend's house. Delicious burgers! There is a store around here that once in a while has the trimmings from prime rib they grind up into hamburger meat. Amazing.
Overnight we had a ton of wind, thunder, and lightning, but the wet parts of the storms all went just a hair south of us. Seems to always be the way! It's like there is an invisible barrier over our house. Storms often go north or south or split down the middle and go both north and south at the same time leaving us high and dry.
Today I may take a drive. It's beautiful and I feel the need to wander. I walked 2.5 miles with my dad this morning (yesterday walked alone and did 4.25 miles and walked the only hill around). Maybe I'll drive up to Sleeping Bear Dunes today and get my annual pass for hiking...
Hope you all have a nice one!
Safely home, trying to unpack efficiently. One Mother's Day present was a house cleaning, they came yesterday, so all the bathrooms are clean, everything dusted and vaccumed. I'm trying not to mess it up :).
I weeded my front flower bed, and it looks lime the zinnias I planted (bedding plants) are ready to bloom next week. I have them in a flower bed on the side of the house. I don't think the foliage itself is very pretty, but I love them for cut flowers.
As per usual, I need to go to the store, figure out dinner etc. So nothing too earth shattering here.
Cecily, Michigan life seems to be going well, sounds like a nice mix of socializing and time to recharge.
Liz, travel safely!
Another scorcher here today. I just went outside and thought as I stood in the shade and there was a slight breeze, "Oh, this is kind of pleasant. I could sit out here for a while." Then I walked inside and realized just how hot it was outside. Took a look at outdoor thermometer display and it read 103! I guess heat waves are kind of like de-carbing! By the third day it seems the new normal kicks in!
I had another really very good workout yesterday. Being at 10 am, it started off slowly (sad, but true), but half way through I "kicked in". By the time I was done I had the shakes in my shoulders and arms, which is such a great feeling - since it lasts only a short time. It's a great sign of fatigue, which is what I go for these days.
Food was fantastically on point yesterday. It was not reflected on the scale this morning, so I politely gave my scale the bird, told to ef off and chuckled to myself! I'm proud of myself for having gotten to the point where I don't let the day to day number on the scale influence my thinking or cause knee jerk reactions to my eating.
Construction continues. We are inching closer to getting our backyard returned to us. I think we are down to pouring concrete, completing two gates and a section of cross fence, finishing the electrical work and setting up the plumbing for the drip systems. The yard belongs to the dogs for the weekend! Yippee!
Good Morning All- up at the farm so super happy. Our restrictions eased at midnight Thursday night. My best friend has rented a cottage up here for 3 nights so we went over & had pizza. It was a lovely night. She has twin adult sons who keep her very busy. They will come out to see us either today or tommorrow.
We had a sleep in after a late night. Been a long time since I have seen 1am. Cooked a yummy brunch of english muffin topped with bacon & cheese n baby spinach omelette- delicious. DH has gone to get some compost so we are start to prepare the orchard. Getting trees tommorrow plus our cousin is bringing 5 x apples & 3 x cherries from his orchard- they are huge fruit growers in the area. He will show DH how to prune. Sadly I will miss him as I will be back in the city for work.
Not a lot else to report. I had best go get some washing done & sort out the huge pot of stew DH made into containers and then into the freezer.
