Liz, As Diane said, sorry for your loss, hard to see your friend lose her sweetie. And agreed that we must make the most of the time we have. A lesson you unfortunately know too well. So glad to know that there are second and third acts in life.
Peps, I hope things settle for you a bit. I do know there are sometimes those seasons in life where things have to be sorted and everything feels bumpy.
Have had an absolutely lovely day. The hotels "breakfast included" is in a little cafe about a block and a half away. So, a short, peasant stroll, and then a very nice meal. After that, we headed to the beach. Our cheap little umbrella from CVS did the trick, and provided enough shade to be comfortable. The loaner chairs from the hotel were very comfortable, they are roomy and a tish higher than our own at home, so easier to stand up.
The water was HEAVEN! So warm, so clear, with gentle rollers to bob in, but not so strong they beat you up. Easy in and out, no strong undertow. We spent the day relaxing in the chairs, chatting, swimming. We both bought books, but never even opened them. Tomorrow's plan, more of the same.
Tonight we're going to a historic area called Espanola Way. It was a shopping district in the 1920s that has been restored, restaurants, shops, and what looks to be lots and lots of strings of outdoor lights. Works for me.
