Hey DianeO, My DH has a pile of those battery tools and multiple batteries as well. We can run the refrigerator off them in a power failure and charge our phones or even run the tv. They are great but yeah he needs to use more than one battery to mow.
So glad you are moving forward but at your own pace. And a glass of wine = chicken soup!! Take care.
I had a laid back and utterly truthful session with my nutrition therapist yesterday. It was actually pretty productive and validating. What I came away with more than anything is the need to refocus on self care. My stress level is through the roof. In the past 4 days I have dealt with....
- plumbers (yes, broken pipe is finally fixed! Luckily, the company did not charge me for the repair since their first guy didn't catch it and we had three weeks more leakage under the house before getting it fixed. Thank goodness it's been hot as blazes, so it's drying out and there is no longer the smell of sewer gas coming out from under the house! - Nice, too, that it was kitchen drainage that broke, not bathroom!).
- Then last night the contractor's son knocked on the slider before he left for the weekend to tell us he removed 4 sections of fence and we shouldn't let the dogs out over the weekend. WTF????? So, after us losing our **** and all of us calling his dad, he ended up staying late and putting the fence back up. Luckily, he had set the new posts. Dogs spent an additional 1-2 hours crated...
- Next,.... contractor was only able to by about 1/3 of the blocks for the stairs thinking he could find more. I don't like the blocks he bought and now he can't find any more blocks, so i think we are back to square one on the stairs.
- Contractor is big on switching things up as he creates. I admire his creativity, but his scattered way of communication is stressful for me. Acting as mediator between Ron and the contractor is stressful, too. They are peas in a pod! (probably why I'm drawn to the contractor to begin with)
- Ron is (not) adjusting to retirement as I predicted. I had to ask him to shower and shave yesterday. UGH....
- Had to replace our wifi router yesterday only to have the modem break completely last night. I accepted an all day 12 hour window for an emergency tech visit and repair. 5 hours down. 7 to go...
- Dottie is in full blown heat ready to be bred. Blitz is so beside himself he might as well be 2 dogs! LOL!
- Then just the everyday little stuff that piles up....
Suffice it to say, I'm feeling fragile. There are moments I simply feel overwhelmed, on the verge of the flood gates opening, but am unable to let go and have release. Like Diane C. I do not cry - about big stuff. I might get misty over a movie, and bawl when I lose a dog, but other than that.... not so much.
As for weight management for me right now, NUT recommends focusing on simply taking care of myself. Being gentle and focusing on eating to keep muscle mass stable for working out, etc... She pointed out that I have no reserve left to manage weight loss, pointing out that I haven't really stopped to take a breather since school let out. Today I have done very little. I have fed myself and the dogs. puttered about the house and on the computer (tethered my laptop to my iPhone for HotSpot connectivity - works well!)
Happy Saturday....
Yes, that is more than enough to deal with. Not a good time to consider a calorie deficit.
I'm done with school on Friday, and leaving for Miami on Saturday. This week I was ruminating that means I don't even get started on my summer projects until June 17 .... but after reading all your going ons, it will be the perfect transition/reset.
You are so right Peps not to embark on any kind of weight loss program right now. I was thinking the other day that you just have too much to do and a weight loss program takes a lot of energy, planning and effort. I remember after the surgery for quite a while I spent a great deal of energy planning on how to get my protein, when and what I could eat, how much, what to do if I went somewhere and on and on. Not a mission for right now. Sorry you have home repair woes. Bet its worth it in the long run but geez.
Stay well. Diane S
I am coming to believe that true self care is the basis for everything positive.
