DianeO, I am glad you are moving forward but I will be thinking of you and Atlas. I know having him leave will be a tough loss.
We will be on the way to the airport at this time tomorrow. Our Covid tests have been passed and our permission to board and fly to Aruba has been granted. Today will be the final laundry, packing and appointments. One is to get my hair done and the other at the bank. I have to close the old account and open a new one. What a pain! I will have to change automatic transactions to use the new account. I guess it was time to get new checks with DH's name not on them anyway.
Tonight MIke and I are going out to eat at the best restaurant in town for our 10 month dating anniversary. We will definitely stop celebrating monthly after one year, but it still feels appropriate. We could probably have waited until tomorrow in Aruba but we will be tired after traveling and probably not up to doing much.
Have a safe and healthy Friday!

Well, here it is the end of the first full week of vacation and I don't feel very accomplished. Though, I have gotten "chores" done - dogs to the vet, groomed BFF's dog yesterday (took 4 hours!), plumbers out to fix stuff, organized with the contractor, gotten my workouts in, etc....
Not sure how this retirement thing with Ron is going to evolve. So far I am not impressed. My fears are being validated after only a week. YIKES! Guess I know him far too well. Oh, well.... A tiger can't really change his stripes, now can he?
Taking the GOAT in later today for a few fixes. RVs seem to always need some kind of tweaking.
I have absolutely no motivation to facilitate change in my eating. Maintaining without gaining seems to be what I'm able to rock right now. I have pretty much abandoned the idea of losing weight. While I have strong feelings about that statement, I think it is realistic and an emotionally sound notion - at least for now. Can't say I'm happy about that idea, but I am trying to live in truth rather than in a fantasy world.
Liz, have a wonderful time in Aruba and safe uneventful travels. See... another vacation! LOL! I'm so thrilled for you. It's kind of like you have been living a charmed life the last 10 months. Much deserved!
Good mojo still being sent your way OceanDiane.
Diane S., how old are pups now? When will they start leaving for new homes?
Saw Paula on her kayak on FB. Looked like a lot of fun. Oh, and was nice to see Ann's quick post on TT! Glad she is still checking in on us.
Shirl, sounds like you did the right thing with the new job. Glad it is working out so well for you!!!! That really is wonderful - especially because such a change can be so unsettling and fear inducing!
Ceci - Your remodel sounds divine! We thought about doing the kitchen this year, but getting the outside became the priority.
Has anyone heard from David? He's kind of disappeared since the election in November - even on FB.
Have a swell weekend, ladies!
Ocean Diane, sometimes we don't realize all that we were carrying until it is lifted off our shoulders. And I admire your ability to do the right thing about Atlas. Of course the service dog has to go to his person, but you could make it drama filled and difficult after what you've been through. But that is not the road you choose. Kudos.
Peps I hear you on the maintaining, not losing. Your commitment to fitness though is not in a maintenance mode, you are continuing to evolve.
Last night I went dress shopping. I have lots of cute summer dresses, but they don't fit very well. Not attractive, not comfortable. Dress shopping is also not the same buzz it was 30 or even 20 pounds ago. But I did find a couple, and I did feel pretty in them. I am giving myself permission to dress the body I currently have.
It's 97 degrees here today!!!!! Crazy. The humidity is low, so I'm actually quite comfortable reading on the front porch in the shade. I have several bird baths of varying depths in the front flower beds. I filled them up and was treated to lots of birds stopping by for a sip. I own my old person entertainment :).
Today, our high school band drumline lined up on the sidewalk to serenade the students as they left. They were right under my classroom window, so I got up from my desk to watch. As I stood there, watching kids walk out, breaking into some dance steps, the drummers doing there choreography, I burst into tears. It was so.damn.normal. I sat at my desk and cried for awhile. Tears don't come to me easily, I choke up and my eyes fill, but tears rarely fall. It felt so good to let some of this nutty year go. It's closing in on the anniversary of my cancer diagnosis, covid, distance learning, scrambling for my parents vaccines, my sister in laws cancer.... And I'm still standing. Damn right I'll be doing it in a new sundress. :)
Good for you DD! Feeling the emotion and wearing your pretty dress!

Good Morning All, its the weekend already & another spent in lockdown but using the time wisely at the city house- dedicating a chunk of it to installing the above fridge cupboards & last skirting board to complete kitchen. Washing is done & drying by the fireplace. DH has made a big batch of apple sauce- we are having roast pork n veggies tonight. Will make meals up for freezer & my mum as its her favourite roast. Im cleaning the house as my cleaner cant come - bummer. Enjoying pottering & tidying. Tommorrow we will tackle the rest of the front garden- its well in need of its winter trim back.
Liz- sorry about the fraud thing- unsettling! Have a wonderful time in Aruba and enjoy dinner for your anniversary
Cec- the renovation plans brought a huge smile to my face. Will be wonderful and look forward to seeing pics
Peps- how is the tummy bug? Hoping you are feeling a little better. Glad the outside remodel is going well. Sending you a big aussie hug x
DD- Im actually glad you cried- its good too - let it out & release it all. Good for you getting new dresses :) always lovely. I still find it weird you are all talking about heat & we are freezing over here....
Diane S- give those rascals a cuddle for me
Diane O- I saved you till last- certainly not least! I will be thinking of you today as you meet with SIL and hand over Atlas. Sending you strength and love. One step at a time xxxx
I had best keep moving or I will loose momentum
Stay safe all

Late post! Which always messes up my next day post. But oh well. This morning, my weight was 184. I was ravenous yesterday. Perhaps hormonal...
Today I drove an hour to Home Depot to get window washing equipment. The local hardware store didn't have what I needed. So tomorrow I shall wash off the bird "chalk outline" where one hit the window along with bird doo, bugs, dust, spiderwebs, etc. Much like crafty projects, I much prefer the buying of new cleaning tools to the using of them. The novelty wears off quickly, I'm afraid.
The last of the plants went in today. And I have veggie sprouts coming in! We have a vicious south wind blowing in now. It went from 72 to 86 in an hour and it's still 84 at 9pm. North and west winds are clear, cold, and crisp (my favorite), south are hot and humid. East usually results in biting flies. Ah, Michigan!
I also ordered all new rugs for the house. I went with Flor rugs. They are carpet squares you attach together to make rugs of all patterns and sizes. We've done the whole big house over the last 2 years, now for my house. The great thing is you can pick up and wash or replace individual squares. Which when you have dogs (especially a pukey one like Ferg was) is awesome. I have one together, but need help from the fam to move furniture to do the other 3. And then there's the whole issue of getting rid of the old rugs! That's a problem for another day...
Anywho, off to read in bed... night all!

Probably! Though I think this is as hot as it will be, but it will stay this way for the week. Any winds that cross over the surface of Lake Michigan (west) or Lake Superior (north) act like nature's air conditioner because the water is cold. But the south winds come across land and bring up hot temps from the warmer states below us... My dad's wife loves it. But hot winds make me cranky! I'm glad it's not humid for you! I am actually happy in the shade when it's hot so long as it's not humid too.
I never heard of those rugs. Great concept!
