Memorial Day 2021
Another cool, drizzly day. Mike is going golfing today so I will work on packing and look for a birthday gift for DSD (her birthday is a couple of days after we leave for Aruba).
5 days to Aruba! They are #2 in the world for Covid vaccination rates (just under Israel) and are still maintaining some restrictions that have been lifted in Massachusetts (where the vaccine rate is close to Aruba). Some friends arrived Saturday and posted videos so I can see that though things are a little different the atmosphere is close to normal. As an example, since sitting at a bar is not allowed, my resort purchased quite a lot of bar height tables and moved all the bar stools to them. They still had the music we usually have on the weekend. And people on resort grounds don't seem to be wearing masks outside. I assume they do inside per Aruba rules.
Thinking about DianeO and praying that she finds a good path.
Have a safe and healthy Monday!

Sun and blue sky's here, predicted highs in the 70s. Current plan is our first kayak outing.
Liz I'm a little more than a week behind you in planning the big escape. Two weeks from now I'll be in Miami.
I dropped our daughter off at the airport, and now she will spend the next 12 days working from home in Chicago. She and all the college friends are having a big meet up outdoors today.
This 3 day weekend has been a big help in giving me some time to refuel. Kayaking should put even more fuel in the tank.
Memorial Day: At one point during World War 2, my great grandparents had 5 sons overseas in combat at the same time. 2 are buried in France, one returned carrying shrapnel in his body until the day he died. I am always so moved by President Clinton's words at a D Day commeration, "Let us not forget, when these men were young, they saved the world." Thank you to my great uncles for helping save the world.

Weight 184 - between massive amounts of brunch food, afternoon snacks, and apple pie/ice cream at the neighbor's, it's a wonder it wasn't worse!
I need to get to planting the flower boxes today. My fingers are still really stiff! I love how they look when they're done, but the doing is not as much fun requiring ladders on soft ground and awkward twisting. But worth it in the end!
I should get started...
Good Morning All
Popping in quickly. I have a vet appointment for Bella tonight so will be interesting to see what they say. She seemed a lot brighter yesterday and no episodes as far as DH saw. She snoozed by the fireplace most of the day as its been super cold over here.
Im in the office on my own today - everyone is out on jobs. So will enjoy pottering. Im loving my job, lots to learn but its good.
Our lockdown isnt going well - 11 new cases yesterday with one unable to be linked to the starter case. Thats a huge worry and I think will effect the scheduled lift of our 4th lockdown at midnight Thursday night. Time will tell
Liz - not long till Aruba :) So excited - can you please send me a parcel of sunshine. Im not a winter girl at all !
Cec - Huge congratulations on your weight. You have worked so hard. Cant wait to see the planter boxes all done.
DD - Hope things settle with your Aussie sister. Hard to see the people we care about suffer. Glad DD is in Chicago safely and enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend
Peps - Hope you are starting to uncoil a little. Time to be still and rest a little
BB - Good to see you post. Both your families have experienced such dreadful loss. My thoughts are with you
Diane S - when are the puppies ready to go to their new homes? It will be super quiet in your house I imagine once that happens
Diane O - Love and Light my friend - you are in my thoughts lots
I had best get moving - phones have already started. Least the day will fly
S
Shirl I hope your Bella continues to be on the mend.
Kayaking was awesome, it reached 80 degrees today, with a light breeze and pretty low humidity. There were a lot more people on the lake, picnicking in the park etc. things are looking so normal all of a sudden.
Seems like summer is moving in this week, with possible 90s by Saturday. Better dig the beach chairs and umbrella out, my weekend plans for next week are making themselves.
