I can't believe we leave for Aruba 2 weeks from today! It is a revolving door here at my house: DSD went to NJ for the weekend, DD is going to Colorado for a week today, and broken-finger DD is arriving for the week this afternoon. Whew!
Today is deck box planting, possibly a little beach time and meeting friends for dinner. Mike is going golfing mid-day and may meet us after dinner. Justice is doing great so a long walk might be required for him.
Have a safe and healthy Friday!

Well today is requiring a new flex: our entire school district is closed due to an active threat currently under investigation. I got the automated call just as I was leaving the house. What in the world??!!! I'm watching a local morning news show, so far nothing, and reading my emails. So far just one from our principal confirming that we need to stay home and conduct a digital learning day. And I have no way of teaching webex because I left my laptop in my desk last night. Crazy times.
You are going to have to start bringing your laptop home every day. I got in that habit after I got caught having to be at home and unable to dial in a couple of times during my last years of work. I suspect days off will be redefined for snow days etc. over the future.

Hope all is well at the DO. I liked you post, but it was really more of an acknowledgment than a like.... Hope you don't get grief for not having your laptop at home! We are expected to have ours with us 24/7 right now - just in case. It's a pain, but we, too, have had instances where it was needed - not for violent threats, but for covid and fire issues.

Weight: Good Lord. It's so quick and easy to do a ton of damage.
I finally have my packing/leaving hat on. Apparently I thrive on pressure and procrastination. Last laundry load is in. Got my eyebrows done this morning. They were a woolly mess and look so much better.
Not much else to report on. I'll check in from Michigan soon!
See Liz, perpetual vacation! LOL! Are you a little worried about getting stuck out of the country, if there is a COVID19 outbreak? We purposely did not reschedule our European river cruise for this year because I'm too nervous about getting stuck out of the country. I want things to be settled down more globally before we travel abroad.
The wall is coming along nicely. It's a lot of work. I'm beginning to understand the price now. When you see how much material and how much labor is going into this wall to make it a wall to last a thousand years.... The wonderful thing is that it is giving us a great deal of planting area for a part sun-part shade garden. I think for the first time ever I will have a place for Hosta. I am very much looking forward to having a workable garden area again. It's been a good 14 years since I've had a garden other than a vegetable garden.
Food intake was much more aligned with healthy eating yesterday. Consequently, I felt physically better, too. I had a good push-pull workout last night, which also helped me feel good - physically and mentally. I do feel so much lighter emotionally after a good workout.
NUT session today, which is a good/bad thing. Good cuz I need it. Bad cuz I need it! LOL! I forwarded her my thought from yesterday's post to hold myself accountable to work on these issues. So, now I'm stuck having to deal with "uncomfortable" topics today.
I am looking forward to the weekend! Hope you all have niceties planned too. Safe travels Ceci! Let us know when you are safely in Michigan!
I'm not worried about getting stuck. Aruba almost feels like an extension of the US in some ways (though it's not). They have been very careful with Covid and never had as big an outbreak as the US. At this point it is pretty well controlled and it restrictions are tighter than most US states. Even if they did have a major outbreak I think the US would still let citizens come back at worst with quarantine required.

I won't get in trouble. Previous to Covid, we had a digital day protocol,(like snow days), so I posted an assignment and links to a reading and a reading guide. You can do that from any computer that can get to Google. Ironically, I keep my iPad at home for evening emails, and emergency webex etc. But the tech person needed to inspect them this week for the warranty, so mine is at school, waiting to come back.
They just released an announcement that after an investigation, the threat is deemed not credible. All they've told us was a bomb threat was made against the other high school in our city and other unnamed schools and buildings in the district. I'm sure the gossip in my city is it's own kind of bomb, exploding right now. I'll get the lowdown when I have lunch with some friends tomorrow. Bomb threats don't rattle me as much as gun threats. There have been 2 occasions when a shooting threat was investigated, and the person of interest did indeed have guns. That scares me. Oh, and there were two tornado touchdowns within 15 miles of our house Wednesday. Luckily the storm was doing what they call, pulsing, so the tornados dropped, and went back up again without tracking very far on the ground. Why not? It's all too crazy.
After 3 days of rain and barely escaped mayham apparently, the sun is trying to peak out. We're having dinner with DH's sister and our daughter and niece tonight. I can't care too much about monitoring food right now, except to say, I did eat quality food so far today.
OK real message now.
Had to get up early for me and drive to the sort of big city to get a fasting blood draw. No coffee. Made me dangerous. Had to wait awhile but not too terrible. Before I went I shoved some food at the pups. Upon return I was able to better care for them and clean up. And thankfully my second case of puppy mousse arrived in time along with some moose antler, Moose and Mousse.
Yikes DD, school threat!! It must be so hard in school these days with fear of violence. Of course, I am old enough to remember the duck and cover drills of the 50's and we thought we were a major target because the Strategic air command was nearby. Duck and cover my a$$. Anyway glad you are safe.
Peps good on you for getting the garden going. But Hosta in northern cal? A buffet for the slugs and snails!! Can you grow heathers there? my favorite.
Liz enjoy Aruba. And all your visitors.
Yikes I can't get vet appointments for puppy health certs for the two that are going on airplanes. I am hoping my good customer record will buy me some influence.
Uh oh, the pups are waking up. Time to rock and roll.
