Liz, glad your son is at peace with the living arrangements, and cauliflower steak sounds intriguing!
Cecily, I love to be on the move, but get very annoyed by the pre trip prep. Closing up a house for a couple of months must be even more so.
You know, Diane's snake story didn't even bother me so much. That's how bad northern state winters are. You can escape winter, but there will be snakes involved. Northerners: okay.
Good to see you pop in Shirl! Sounds like you're working as hard at the new job as the old one. They sure got lucky finding you.
Today I shopped at Costco without a mask. (They are no longer requiring them). I saw a few people with masks, and I thought, oh no, may be they are immune compromised. Then I reminded myself that I cannot hurt them, that even if I had a breakthrough infection, it's highly unlikely I could pass it on. So once I got past the reflexive, I'm not doing my part to protect older people, I relaxed and enjoyed shopping without a sweaty face and steamy glasses. They were even handing out samples, although they were in little paper bags to eat once you left the store. An employee offered me a sample of nacho cheese Doritos. I said, I believe I've had these before, and I apparently amused only myself. I mean really? Who doesn't know what Doritos taste like?
I then stopped at JC Penny's. Masks are still required there. This will take some serious concentration to keep straight. Mall of America, no masks, except in Nickelodeon Universe (the indoor amusement park). If you go in there, mask up to protect the kids. Seems fair.
School is out June 10. Tomorrow we begin reading the Odyssey. Seems fitting as we try to wrap up this year and reach our metaphorical Ithaca.
