Sunday, May 9, 2021, Mothers Day
Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, however they hold that role (birth, adoption, extended family, friends, dogs, cats,...)! May we all talk and laugh until our throats are sore as Cecily did with her friends yesterday.
We are in Fredericksburg VA, about to go have breakfast prior to a 6.5 hour drive to Albany New York. We will be visiting with Mike's daughter and grandchildren for Mother's Day and his grandson's 13th birthday. Funny guy - he never buys cards because he prefers to make them. He isn't really artistic but he feels they are more personal.
Tomorrow we will be back on Cape Cod either at my place or Mike's (we may go there first so he can get some things).
Have a safe and healthy Sunday!

On Mother's Day I am filled with gratitude for all the Mothers in my life. My own mother was so young when I was born, a few months shy of her 19th birthday. Her own mother was just turning 40. I'm so thankful for both my grandmas, my great grandma and the aunts and the great aunts who were part of my village. I needed them and they were there. And "my other mothers" my best friend's Mom, and my host Mom in Brazil. All strong women who taught me so much.
The sun is out today, and warmer temps are predicted later this week, meaning upper 60s. Still need to cover my hanging baskets and bedding plants the next few nights. It's a bit of a pain, but the baskets look so cheerful hanging during the day, and it's pretty quick to unhook them and group them on the porch. It's like I put them to bed and tuck them in each night.
Sunday mornings I take my weekly dose of fosamax for my osteoporosis. Once you take it on an empty stomach you must remain upright (no bending over to pick up stuff or put on shoes etc) for 30 minutes. I set my timer. Then, as my pharmacist friend recommends, at the 30 minute mark, I have a teaspoon of honey :) it's supposed to help prevent esophagical problems. I was so afraid of this medication, and Tamoxifen, but I seem to be tolerating them very well.
It's quiet here, DH is at work, DD is sleeping, DS is at his home in Wisconsin. I like this quiet, sunny, peaceful morning. Once my 30minutes is up, I'm going to go do a little shopping. I haven't bought new summer pants in almost 2 years. The ones I have are looking shabby and some are not fitting well because of regain. I'm going to have to accept I need a bigger size, at least for now. Wish me luck trying to judge that size when I can't try them on.

Weight: best not discussed today! So much food at the brunch and I didn't stop when I got home...
I really need to get recentered today. When things are going really well, it's not hard and I stay centered for a long time. Now, it's the reverse. I spend more time uncentered and flailing. It's not about knowing what to do, it's making myself do it. This is where the REAL money would be in weight loss. Imagine if you could solve the brain part of the equation!
So decent eating today on tap for today and a walk later. I think I'll go get my car washed. Do you ever get what looks like bright yellow paint splatters on your cars? I read it's honey bee poop! My car is covered in it. Ah, Spring.
Hope all the mothers have a good mother's day!
Getting centered on the right kind of eating is exactly what I need to do too. Not hard once one is in the groove but so easy to fall out of it and difficult to get refocused.

Honey Bee poop, the things I learn here. Must be some kind of good luck if a honey bee poops on your car!
I hope you had a nice Sunday with Mike's family Liz. Almost home!
I'm having a great day. The house is full of flowers. I went shopping and found 4 pairs of summer weight ankle pants that will work for school the rest of the year and next fall. Except I hope they are too big next fall. Not even upset they are a size bigger than the ones I was wearing. Just happy they look nice and they are fresh and new. I also found a pair of black casual sandals that are super comfortable, and a bit less sport sandal looking than my Tevas. Tevas are awesome, but not very attractive. My daughter is picking up dinner from a restaurant I really enjoy (I voted to eat in), and there is a very prettily wrapped box on the table... hmmm.
Isn't it great to feel good in what you are wearing!
