Hilton Head has been wonderful! Not cheap to stay here but the view from the balcony is lovely and yesterday was a stupendous beach day. The island is so pretty with lots of fantastic outdoor restaurants. I would really like to rent here for a month or two sometime.
Today I have long pants on for the first time in 2 months. We are leaving to drive to Virginia at about 10. We have decided when traveling that a good breakfast and a shared dinner with no lunch stop works best for us. We will change drivers about halfway and use the bathroom.
Interesting comments on religion. I have not felt the need for formal religion since I was a teen. But I have my own beliefs and respect and am somewhat envious of those who can find comfort in the church, ceremonies, etc. I did love the priest at the church DH attended for 20 years. One of his last acts prior to retiring due to illness was to officiate at DH's funeral. And he was there for us, visiting eldest DD's home, when she was dying. And I do like the ceremony of a wedding and funerals. In fact there was a wedding by the pool here yesterday which we watched. The young men were in classic cut navy suits and the women in sand colored flowing dresses. Mom and Dad walked the bride down the aisle. And Mom had on a fantastic sparkly long dress.
And puppies (and babies) are the ultimate gift from heaven!
Off to breakfast, then a last dog run on the beach. Have a safe and healthy Saturday!

Our trip down in two packed vehicles was an adventure NOT to be repeated ! Suffice it to say, it will not be repeated. Our walk through is Tuesday and we move in Friday. DC's aunt will come stay with S&A the 27th, when we will FLY home, and drive back together with our final load.
The lake house we are currently renting is on Serenity Drive ! serendipity !

Liz, though I became Catholic for many reasons, one of them was because of the ritual of funerals. When my MIL died very suddenly at 60, I could see that having a tradition really helped DH and his family. It was like a road map to get through those first days of grief. I wanted that for my husband, if I should die first, and for my children when they have to navigate my death. I don't think it's the only meaningful ritual for sure, there are many, many ways to mourn. But for DH, and now our children, and also me, it's a familiar comfort.
Minnesota is phasing out Covid restrictions! Today, no more capacity limits or social distancing required at outdoor events. Grad Party season: let the games begin! Restaurants, bars can increase capacity to 75%, and all restrictions except masks, end May 28, for gyms too. Indoor mask mandate ends July 1, or when 70% of the population 16+ has received at least one vaccine dose, whichever comes first. We are a bit over 60% vaccinated. Might be hard to get to 70%, as that most of the remaining 10% may have already chosen not to vaccinate for various reasons. Their right to decide, but I am happy so many have had a shot. The summer looks promising.
We were going to visit my parents, but since my husband doesn't get off until 3pm, my Mom said it would get too late. So now I have the weekend free to do as I please.
We had a nice dinner here with our friends, and now the fridge is full of yummy leftovers.
Chilly and overcast, so no putting plants into the ground yet. But soon. I've covered what I bought last week the last few nights because it dipped into the high 30s. Too risky. I'd like some of that beach weather!!
I forgot to add that we discovered there is an owl hanging around our yard. A few months ago, we saw this enormous owl on the peak of our neighbors roof. It was so big, DD said it was a gargoyle. Last night, as our group became smaller, quieter, and the bonfire turned to glowing embers, we heard an owl hooting in the trees behind us. Loved it.

Weight 186.2 after 184 yesterday. I overate again last night. Grr.
Today I got together for brunch with my knitting group for the first time since a year ago January. It was so lovely! All of us vaccinated, no masks, hugs, laughing, hanging out inside and out on this beautiful day (the hostess has the most gorgeous backyard). It was awesome and so missed. No knitting was done, haha! I brought a pound and a half of bacon and a pound of sausage, all gone. My throat is happily irritated from all the talking and laughing.
Not much else happening, just have to clean my kitchen now after all the greasy cooking this morning.
Take care, all!
Talking and laughing! That is the medication everyone needs!
