How fun for me to start the thread! Happy Friday (and Saturday to Shirl)!!!!!

I made processed food choices yesterday in my tiredness. Those choices, paired with a pretty decent workout, led to a rise in the scale number. I own it. Besides, for me a pound up or down is really negligible. I'm a big guy, so a pound or two doesn't register in my clothes or joints as major fluid retention can.

Spring fever ha**** my little third graders. They still behave like beginning of the year kids, but the weather and hormones are telling them that spring is here.

I must commit this weekend to stocking up on some go to healthy choice foods for lunch. I was pitifully prepared for lunch today and have nothing but fruit and a cheese stick, which won't work for the long haul.

I am enjoying that so many of us are feeling thoughtful and reflective about our journeys right now. I know this process is part of my life and the intensity of the reflection waxes and wanes. It is nice to be in good company.

Good afternoon! Mike and I are on the way to Miami Beach right now. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to be together with him again yesterday (and today). I cooked that pasta dish and it came out great. And I didn't feel like I ate too much of it.

But we are back into vacation mode so I will just go with it. At least snacking isn't an option.

Have a safe and healthy Friday!

Weight 185.2. Not destroyed by yesterday's lunch - whew

Ooh, another late sleep in! And no plans today. Woohoo! It's going to be in the 90s, so not a lot of time will be spent outside. I know there are people who love this kind of heat, but I'm not one of them. I wonder what makes some people revel in sweltering temps and others wither? Genes? I know I was even less able to handle heat when I was fatter, but I still don't do well and its effect on my mood is even greater.

I might join the Pilates class today. Maybe a walk when the sun goes down.

Peps, what kinds if things do you like to have around for lunch? I've taken to munching on carrot sticks when the urge to eat doesn't coincide with an abundance of calories.

Liz, enjoy your reunion with Mike!

DD, what sort of sign from the universe is two simultaneously broken shoe straps?!

Shirl, gorgeous necklace! What a beautiful gift!

I have always wondered too where our weather preferences cone from. I'm Finnish, and I really like hot weather, and I have since forever. I remember arriving in Brazil as an 18 year old, and thinking, yes, this!My daughter says I'm a fake Finn, because I should like cold weather and running around in the forest. And I tan pretty well. Conan O'Brien once said, I'm genetically engineered to live in a peat bog. That's my half Irish husband. Although as he's aged, he tolerates heat and bright sun much more than he used to. And as I've aged, I appreciate a 90 degree day much more from the shade. But I do love a shady spot, cool drink, slight breeze and 90 degrees so much!

The peat bog line cracked me up!

My dad used to call my mom Nanook of the North because she would have been most comfortable living in the Arctic Circle. I guess I take after her...

I would choose to be physically cold over hot 100% of the time. My crankiness starts activating at 80 degrees, especially in humidity. I worked with a woman who was happiest when we were in historic heat wave territory. I just couldn't comprehend...

So the last few days I've tried to show a modicum of discipline in my choices. First step, go to bed earlier!! Watch the 9pm local news if I must, TV off, tucked into bed by 10pm. Staying up to watch Colbert means less than 7hours of sleep, more like 6. This helped.

I made a "hot dish" enough for two nights, and DH said he didn't mind eating again tonight, so dinner is already prepared. Tomorrow, I will browse Costco for some healthy pre made options to keep handy, and maybe do some batch cooking if I feel like it. Except move that to Sunday, tomorrow is supposed to be 80, so I want to be outside. 80 for one day, then back into the 60s.

Speaking of heat, June vacation has pivoted back to Miami, as our friends can't travel with us yet, and we are hoping when we go to Sonoma, we go together. Our Liz is leading la vida louca there right now :) We're not going to stay anyplace earth shattering... I have some free nights at Holiday Inn, so well probably stay at one on the mid beach area. Would love some restaurant recommendations.

Don't go to Prime Italian unless you are with a big group and want to eat family style. I got a salad there last night and it would have fed 6+ people as a side salad or 4 as a main meal (which is what I intended it to be). Mike's chicken Parm was enough for 2-3 people.

Noted!! I'm full from lunch right now, so reading about that much food makes me feel queasy. I really love tapas places, but I think DH leaves feeling like he didn't really have a meal. So we'll look for in between the 2.

Good Morning All- well nearly lunchtime & Im officially unemployed. Finished the final invoicing & consolidation with my boss this morning. We are going to an amazing Turkish restaurant tonight for our farewell. Waterproof mascara is a must as the tears are not far from the surface. Ive organised some good wine from the Yarra Valley region(my patch) for our Engineer & his wife and Im picking up a voucher for a High Tea afternoon for my directors to ease into retirement by indulgence. Ive written up what I want to pop into the cards so nearly there.

May have an afternoon nap as Im exhausted

promise to be more present from next week as I have no work and plan on being up at the farm and truely relaxing so as to re-charge

Take care all
