Yesterday DD flew back to Boston for a work related event. She is going to stay 10 days. Since the study she is working on has been moved completely on line, I think she will probably be moving about now that's she's vaccinated and she can basically work from anyplace that has decent WiFi. We're delighted. We love having her home, but she needs to get back to living a life for someone in their 20s, not 50s. Although we do have a lot of similar interests :) I expect this will remain home base for a good while, but as more things open up, she'll be going here and there.
So before she left, she gave us a detailed note about how to take care of the cat. Never mind that she moved to Chicago to go to college when she was 18, and never lived at home fulltime again until now, at 28. We must know something about cat care since he just turned 19. :) He's probably the real reason she has stayed.
I started Tamoxifen today. So far no side effects, I imagine it could take a few doses at least. Some people get hot flashes, dizzy etc right away, others, it builds up over time. Lots of people gain weight. Lovely. I promised DH and kids I would give it a very serious try, so I shall
The quarantine at school is hopefully peaking. One hour we have 34 students. 5 choose not to come back, but remain in distance learning. By yesterday, we had 21 students on webex and 13 in the classroom. Very few are actually sick, the vast majority were told through contact tracing they'd had a direct exposure and had to stay home for 14 days. It's crazy, but it's what we've got to work with. We have to keep them in their same seats everyday, so there will be a student in an island of empty chairs, because they were apparently the one who was 6 feet 1 inch away from the active case. You can imagine that starting out with 30 kids in a room, they were sitting close together. If the covid positive student is in the middle of the room, there's a lot of students on their way to quarantine!
Weather looks nice here, sun and sixty. DH has a weekend off at last (one a month). Happy Friday!
Puppies puppies puppies! Thats what is new here. As Devon said, I am lucky they came at 9 am and not 3 am. All went well and Tesla seems fine. She just ate a big chicken dinner. First 3 were girls. Then Fat Boy staged an entrance. Followed by another girl. They are all wiggling and squeaking.
Peps thanks so much for your advice and support. The vanilla ice cream did the trick. And just now Tesla got a big drink and went out. Friends our dear Devon told me to call him in the night if I needed help. What a good friend!!
I had to appropriate one of DH ice cream sandwiches to give ice cream to Tesla. Then I ate one myself. I deserve it.
Life is good here. And thanks Peps for posting the pic. Cheers. Diane S
Congratulations to Tesla and you!!!
