One day until my birthday and we drive from Key Largo to Key West in a couple of hours. We had a nice relaxing afternoon on the beach here yesterday and split appetizers for lunch and dinner. So eating wasn't too bad, but there were many glasses of wine...

Justice is doing well at the doggy daycare/boarding. I can watch him on cam in his "suite" and in the playroom. He seemed to sleep well and today he is already in the thick of things like the other doggies unlike his first time when he spent the first couple of hours in the corner surveying the rest.

Here is the sunset last night.

Have a safe and healthy Monday!

Your thoughts on what to call Mike? I have been calling him my boyfriend or my "guy friend", but the former sounds like we are teens and the latter sounds like just friendship. I don't like lover or significant other for opposite reasons (one is too intimate and the other too cold). Partner sounds like a business associate to me. I found an article that suggested Mate and Mike liked that. What do you think?

Once you're out of your 20s, it's a tough call. One of my friends referred to her guy as "my beau". It was unambiguous, and kind of charming. I agree lover is way too much info, significant other is kind of clinical. Partner kind of works, but I think some people now think same sex partner when they hear it so it can get confusing. Not a big fan of mate, for me, it connotes breeding or an Australian Friend. Although boyfriend does seem a bit juvenile, it is also unambiguous, and still widely used by people of all ages, as in my Grandma's boyfriend is a riot.

Ha! A fun problem to have.

They're all terrible in one way or another aren't they? (Lover being the very worst of them all!) Mate can sound a bit "fantasy book" to me (They use it in the faerie book I'm reading now. Big with vampire books etc too). Personally boyfriend early on or partner when it's more serious would be my choices.

Gentle snow falling, it's pretty here today. It should all melt by the weekend.

Feeling sluggish today, and I blame "spring forward". Funny how I can "spring forward" with little trouble when I go to the beach on the east coast, proving attitude can be everything. And I love traveling west, where I can finally be a morning person.

Not much happening today besides work. I made chili last week, so I'll have some for lunch the next few days. Good way to get a lot a variety of veggies.

Weight 186.8. Down 0.4 for my Monday weigh in. 35.4 overall. I've been slacking on my daily brisk walking. TOM always throws me off my schedule and then I struggle to restart the habit.

Played with the new car yesterday. I love new electronic stuff - computers, phones, cars. I love figuring it all out, configuring, reading manuals... love it all. And going back to one car (even that one being new), I'm getting almost $900 back on my insurance. Woot!

I think I will consider my car my something sparkly for getting the Covid weight off. That's enough money spent. And I can reevaluate a sparkly bracelet when I get back to my happy range in 11.8 pounds.

Today I have therapy later. It's raining so leaving the house for anything else doesn't sound fun.

My friend who moved back to the UK texted and said her husband (who still lives here) has a friend who volunteers at a vaccination center where they are faced with throwing away doses of vaccine at the end of the day after all the appointment are done so they will phone people to come in at the last minute to use it all up. Her husband got a call at 4pm last Saturday and went straight down and got it. It feels a bit like cutting, but if it's going to go into any available arm otherwise not eligible, why not try to be one of them? We'll see. He was going to text me. I have already read that health departments in CA have said despite what Biden said, they can't possibly open vaccine eligibility to all by May 1. They just don't have enough nor are expecting enough vaccine. Seems like I was right to not get my hopes up in that respect.

Hope you all have good days...

If they call , GO!!! You're not cutting because you're not taking it away from anybody. Every dose deployed is in the best interest of us all.

I still vote for the sparkly thing, no matter how nice the car, it still falls under the more essential purchase. So in 11 or so more pounds, we get a picture of a sparkly? ( Does my bias show? I appreciate a reliable, comfortable car, but it's a utilitarian thing, sparkly jewelry on the other hand ...)

I've been looking! The other day I started scoping out 1stDibs. I saw a Tiffany bracelet on there that I've been eying on the Tiffany website for about 60% of what it would be new. It seems like it's verified jewelry stores doing the selling. Might be nice option since I think you overpay for the Tiffany name from the store...

I agree with DiamondD. At this point getting the vaccines into an arm vs throwing doses away is critical. My eldest DD (47) has been vaccinated in exactly that manner.

Good Morning All

Nice but busy evening over at DSS last night. Our eldest grandson was cranky and youngest super tired so it was a rush to get dinner done so they could be posted into bed

I then sat matching socks while I chatted to the girls. Better sleep too which helps. We have both picked up the boys colds. DH is worse than I am. We think we will go have covid tests today just to eliminate anything - you start to feel like a hypercondriac with this virus! But DH cant get an apt for some antibotics unless he has had a test so off we go. Hoping the results will be back within 24 hours as we want to go to the farm tommorrow after work.

Today will just be working and staying home after test. We have plenty to get done around here but lacking the energy so might be a quiet night

Liz - your pictures are stunning. So glad you are having a wonderful time

Cec - So happy you got your car :)

DD- Loved the snow picture - thats truely alien to me

Hello to all that follow - I had best finish my cup of tea and get showered n dressed - ready for yet another COVID test UGGGG
