30 years ago today, DH and I received a call from our social worker that a little boy had been born and asking if would we like to take him home in a few days. What joy we had and of course trepidation until his arrival day on 3/14. Once we met DS's birth mom we knew that this was meant to be and she did too. She is now his Mum along with me, his Mom. We will both be celebrating his birthday with him later today.
I was just reading an article in the NY Times which mentioned the patchwork rules around vaccinations from state to state. I do so wish there was federal guidance, but I believe that the pace of vaccinating is increasing everywhere and I have confidence that Cecily will also be eligible soon. I can't wait until my children are vaccinated too. We need to get past the fear and the isolation this pandemic has caused.
I am missing Mike a lot unlike last time I came home at Christmas. Our relationship has definitely progressed a lot. I can't wait to see him tomorrow. And I get my second shot tomorrow afternoon! The pharmacist called to confirm that I was coming for a second shot and she was going to cancel the one at the other location. I am really happy that it will be done, but dreading the probable ill feeling that I will have for a few hours assuming it is like the aftermath of the first shot (it is likely to be based on some googling).
Have a safe and healthy Wednesday!

Liz, it gives me goosebumps to read about your son's birth. How wonderful for him to have Mom and Mum, and how wonderful for the joy He brings to both of you. I would imagine bittersweet too for him to reach this milestone without his Dad. All the more reason for us to celebrate your happiness with Mike.
Today is a long day, I have to wor****il 7pm doing online conferences. I had very few takers, so I will have lots of downtime to take care of paperwork. I'm losing my work from home focus. There will be some things I miss, like not having to worry about how my hair looks in the back, not packing a lunch, wearing leggings. But I really need the energy of the students to motivate me, and the structure of the day.
Having fun looking up what restaurants and outdoor attractions are open in Vegas.
I will be really interested to hear about Vegas. R plays poker but I don't really gamble at all so we just like to walk all over Vegas, eat good food, shop, people watch, hit up a show or two, beautiful hotels, and then feel completely ready to go after 3 days. We are ready to go back but I really don't want to be wearing a mask indoors all day every day. Maybe this summer. Monitoring the situation
Greetings All
Well FINALLY the CA my turn site came through and DH and I have appointments for the first Pfiser on Saturday. Its at a school and appears to be a madhouse. I am now trying to help a couple of friends who either have trouble with computers or don't have one at all. CA does have a phone number for such persons but probably no one answers it.
Yay Liz happy b day to DS. He is so lucky to have two mothers and good on you all for making open adoption work. Blessings.
So DH has been growing these ground cover plants in the house to put outside in the spring. Why he wants to grow them is a mystery to me as you can buy nice flats of the stuff down the street. But the corker is that one of the plants got quite large and tall and then began to bloom. Its a friggin DANDYLION! All that effort to grow a dandelion! It has, of course, been banished.
Still no clue if Tesla is expecting. She has been off her food for a couple of days which I am told is a sign.
Went to the cardiologist for follow up yesterday. a new guy - nice. He thinks I am doing fine but wants to adjust bp med. I think I am fine too. The worst part was getting weighed. Not pretty.
Yep there are a few places that have organized the shots well - mostly smaller communities. CA just has so many people and situations its rough. The CVS out here are all doing shots now and I think its all the J and J. So if thats what you want thats where you go. I am glad I am getting the pfizer 2 shot.
Anybody got any tv recommendations? We just finished Sherlock.
We had a roast chicken from safeway last night. Tonight i will make chicken quesadillas from it. Anyone else notice they are into comfort food durning the pandemic?
Well, off to the bank and pharmacy. Cheers. Diane S
Glad to hear you and DH are in the line for your vaccines. Bless you for helping others who cannot get things done the online route. We had multiple people in our family trying to grab appointments for my parents before I finally got some. It can be daunting.
Love your husband's loving care of a dandelion. Somewhere, sometime there must have been someone who thought it quite valuable.
We have been told in Minnesota that dandelions should be left to bloom as they are the first food source for the pollinators. We are compromising, I still dig them up in the front yard, but let them be in the bac****il they're done blooming. Plus I bet it annoys my vine cutting neighbor.
