VSG Maintenance Group
Saturday March 6, 2021
I was up by 6 am this morning but will be up at about 4:30 tomorrow. Yuck! At least I can sleep later for the next 3 days back on Cape Cod.
Today I am in a Senior Race Walk with my ladies walking group and we are leaving at 7. Good news: I should be in the top 15! One of the ladies went to the park to check out where we would be to find out where we were walking and asked how many were signed up: 15, whi*****ludes the 13 from my group and 2 others. LOL! We will be wearing sashes made by one of the group and are tailgating afterwards.
So I mentioned that I am feeling nervous about getting my second shot since I have to reschedule it and it is currently at a location near Mikes? I tried to book a new one yesterday on the online portal but didn't get in until there were no appointments available locally. In the interim, my SIL has received 2 appointments in Massachusetts, my deceased DH received an email from his Boston hospital offering him an appointment, and my DSD (46) got her first shot yesterday. So more people are getting it but access is so inconsistent. Crazy process!
Nothing much else to report except our reconnaissance mission to Siesta Key (which is just south of Sarasota Florida) was successful. It should be a good place to stay later this month.
And Diane S, as another retired person I am also having a tough time figuring out what day it is every day.
Have a safe and healthy Saturday!

Weight 189.4. New scale, but the higher weight probably makes sense as I ate away from home for one day, had one huge fattening delicious dinner, and one restaurant lunch.
Yesterday was shopping and cooking for my friends. I was disappointed with my zucchini recipe, unsure of the enchilada one, and the beans were fantastic. https://lifemadesimplebakes.com/easy-restaurant-style-black- beans/
No plans today, so a walk? And I need to empty the stuff out of my car I brought from my dad's. Maybe take a car to the car wash. We'll see.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
The vaccine thing is giving me hives. It's so random. DH is turning 61 in April, and has been interacting with public at his job with the public since day 1 of the pandemic, during the no mask days until now. He cannot get vaccinated yet in Minnesota. Yet people I know in their 20s got on a teaching sub list even though they have no intention of subbing, and got vaccinated. I don't want to begrudge anyone a vaccine, everyone who wants one should have access, but I also don't want my husband to get one of the new variants of Covid. Our only consolation is thinking maybe he already had it and has some immunities. He has coworkers who tested positive, so maybe he was asymptomatic? I hope so. Always something to worry about.
We went to Costco last night, which was a relief, otherwise I would have gone by myself today. I like when DH accompanies me so I can buy all the heavy stuff. :)
I wrote out a menu for this week, and will go to the regular grocery store to buy all the things you don't find at Costco, or, don't need a 4 month supply of. The 3 of us living in this house have agreed to clean up the food scene here a bit and be more mindful of our choices.
I finally weighed myself, and I did not gain on vacation, or if I did, it's already gone. So still at my highest post surgery weight, but at least I didn't add to it.
Are any of you into Marvel movies? I'm not too much, but I live with fans, so I know some things by osmosis. We just finished watching Wanda Vision on Disney +. Each show has is set in a sitcom world, like Dick VanDyck or Bewitched or later Full House. Even without a ton of Marvel background knowledge, it was very entertaining.
We're going to visit my parents tomorrow to celebrate my Dad's birthday. It's a whole long thing with my family about our different assessments of potential covid risk to my parents. They've had their first vaccination, and getting their second next week. It's been a week since I've been on the airplane, so the risk is getting lower, but I don't think it's business as usual time yet. Our compromise: My daughter and I will wear masks and no one will make an issue of it. DH has to work.
Better get going on my list of weekend chores, so I can "relax" tomorrow. Last week, I was in a lounge chair on the beach, sipping a fruity tropical drink. It was a great time! Just thinking about it makes me happy and relaxed all over again. Hope everyone has some relaxing moments over the weekend.
Good Morning All, Sorry I didnt make it here yesterday - was a busy one. We made 14 bottles of homemade tomato sauce and 16 jars of pasta sauce with our own tomatos, basil and capsicum - oh n bay leaves. Still have a batch of passata to go to use up the last of the tomatos. I have spent this morning labelling them all and putting away in the cupboard.
Hoping to clean out the vegetable patch a little in preparation for the autumn planting. I need to go and help my neighbour install all her hardware for her internet - shes switched to NBN. Then we will go collect my MG Midget and take her for a spin - lunch out somewhere nice with DH - should be lovely
DS is doing great after his 4 wisdom teeth out. I have been making him lots of soft foods and hes managing well. He has a high pain tolerance. Last night was potato mash with corned silverside chopped up very small topped with a parmesan mustard sauce then he had carrot, leek and ginger soup. Filled his belly as he hadnt eaten a lot.
I remembered to weigh after my first cup of tea - and it was a little better than I had prepared myself for 179
Went shopping yesterday and got 7 pairs of casual shoes for $14 - insane. Now to find room for them in the wardrobe.
Well I had best go make some breakfast - just heard DH let up. Then shower and head over to my neighbours. Hope your Saturday has been great and stay safe all
