Hi everyone. Re- entry was a bit bumpy, my laptop didn't want to end vacation either and told me that Google email had changed its address. I re booted it twice, re connected to the internet, all the tricks. Finally convinced it it did too know where Google email lives, and got started with my day.

Liz there are many amazing places in Florida, but would you miss your community of friends? For me, St. Augustine had the vibe I really love, but would not choose it, because not by a major airport, too far north so cooler winters, and I prefer the gulf side. I really did not know about downtown St. Petersburg, but it is awesome. The people we talked to who lived and worked there said, get in on it now, it's being called the next Palm Beach. I haven't been to Vero Beach, but I've been in Melbourne several times. Very nice, but where I used to love the surf on the Atlantic side, I'm not 22 anymore and now the waves intimidate me a bit.

Cecily, All Creatures Great and Small (the books) came out when I was a teenager and my Dad was at the height of his large animal practice. A lot of the stories rang true. My Dad has so many copies of this book, clients loved to give it to him as a Christmas gift. Kind of a compliment if they saw Dr. Harriot in my Dad.

On the plane home, we had some turbulence, definitely not the worst I've experienced, but it wasn't light either, and it went on for 30 minutes. The woman sitting next to me had a panic attack. We ended up holding hands while I told her you're doing great with your breathing, timing it (the pilot did tell us it would be 25-30 minutes) you've made it through another 5 minutes, let's do 5 more etc. In a weird way I was glad I ended up sitting next to her, because turbulence doesn't bother me at all, so I remain quite calm, and I'm not put off by high emotion (I work with and love my teenage students). So I was glad I could help her. I felt so sad for her when she looked at me crying and saying I'm sorry. As if someone in so much distress has to feel bad about being distressed too. We're all so schooled in not making a fuss, or showing our feelings. Anyhow, the turbulence did stop as the pilot had forecasted and we chatted until we landed.

I went to the therapy today for my lymphedema. Turns out there is a lot of scar tissue etc. I don't quite understand all of what's happening, but I need to have all the scar tissue manipulated, I need to stretch to regain motion, I need manipulation and taping to help move the lymphatic fluids. Tired of medical visits. But I will keep going.

Tomorrow we all have to go to school to projector the ACT test. I had to pack a lunch! Hopefully I can manage to get up and get there before 7am. Then I have to drive an hour +after work to get my hair done by my niece. And Wednesday, I have a rescheduled appointment for my Pfizer vaccine. Busy week :)

Such a sweet story about your dad! And you are so kind to have held that woman's hand. A lot of people wouldn't in pandemic times. Your humanity is still very much intact!

Your proctoring makes me think of one of my favorite shows, Playing House. There was a silly line from it where one character is explaining that his girlfriend is a volunteer with Proctors Without Borders, which works "to protect testing integrity in third world countries." Never fails to make me laugh.
