The Covid news seems to be getting somewhat more positive these days, but crazy cold, snowy weather for many of you. I just heard that it is being recommended that teachers be in the high-priority groups to be vaccinated. I don't understand why that wasn't the case right off the bat. It seemed odd to be stressing the need to get kids back into the classroom without the need to vaccinate the teachers beforehand. Yesterday my friends and I were discussing each countries response to Covid and the amazing results in countries like Australia and New Zealand compared to the US. The lockdowns have been hard on the residents but obviously very effective at keeping the disease down.

Mike and I had a good dinner out with my friends yesterday. They liked him (no surprise). Today we are driving back to Mike's place to attend a dinner at his club (outside). Tomorrow is a day off from activities (thank goodness), then DD arrives on Friday.

Not much else to say... Have a safe and healthy Wednesday!

I need to start posting later! I do read everyone's post and mentally reply but would like to be better about actually rresponding. Liz is so good about that!

Liz-so glad things are going so well with Mike!!

DianeO-care to share that spaghetti squash lasagna recipe? I can hear your trip excitement!!!

DD-Carnival sounds fun! DH and I love people watching and partying (even without any alcohol!) so it would be pretty cool to go there or Venice for Mardi Gras one day. So much travel to do, so little time.

Peps-I'm sorry there is so much anxiety returning to the classroom. Hopefully you'll be invigorated by the kids! Gosh I hate these times.

DianeS-glad that the PPP loans are helping out the gallery! I'm sure that is not the easiest job right now.

We booked a last minute flight to Miami. BIL is selling his condo and this is the last weekend. We had wanted to go before MIL passed. It will be good to see BIL and to be in the sun. In an abundance of caution I did run out and get a covid test yesterday just to make sure. I've been shut in since Friday so I feel pretty confident that I'm clear and DH has already had it. And in FL we will pretty much just go to the beach and stay in the condo. Possibly out to eat but we will be much more cautious there where people are a bit closer. You all made me so envious with your vacation plans and I feel so lifted by the thought of something GOOD!!

My weight has really crept up. It's that time of month so I think it'll go down slightly but probably not from flight fluid and vacation food! I suppose today is the first day of Lent. Maybe I ought to give up snacking. It's something that I way take overboard and it's never healthy options.

Weight 189.6. And after a restaurant! Will wonders never cease...

I had a lovely lunch in Newport Beach with my friend for my belated birthday. We went to True Food Kitchen and sat outside (under heaters, it was only 61). It's a really nice chain. If you come across one, I highly recommend it and I am not one for plant-based eating. We had these roasted Brussels sprouts that were off the charts delicious. I found the recipe online... I could have eaten a few orders of those. I also had a Korean Noodle bowl that had sweet potato glass noodles, pickled shiitake, spinach, heirloom carrots, bean sprouts and sesame seeds. Really good.

Dutifully, I entered it all in MFP and managed to have enough calories left for an egg salad sandwich for dinner. Yum. Why don't I eat those more often? So easy.

I took care of sending the agreement for service back to the fountain people (goodbye $2700), filled out all the withholding statements for my dad's house and other escrow paperwork in preparation for the notary today, and since I was on a roll, I got 97% of my tax organizer done and the accompanying paperwork gathered and sorted. This also took care of the growing pile of papers on my kitchen desk (though now it's all in organized piles spread across the coffee table, sofa and family room floor). I should be able to finish that and scan and sent it to the tax guy today. I?m thinking I'm not going to owe a lot more over the estimated payments I've already sent this year. Yay!

This afternoon, a painter is coming to give me an estimate. Driving into my garage, the sun caught the wall above the door and I think I found another bubbling stucco crack that needs fixing. I may need the stucco people to come back out and fix the stuff I haven't noticed before painting. Argh.

Ferg had me up again at 3 and by 5:30, I was still wide awake so I got up and read instead of laying there worrying about loose ends. I am looking forward to bedtime already!

I think that's all I've got. Time for another cup of coffee. Hope you all are well and warm! Can you imagine how much money plumbers are going to make in the coming weeks with all the frozen/burst pipes? My friend sent me this picture from out the window in HOUSTON covered in 5 inches of ice and snow...
