Presidents Day, February 15, 2021

Another hot/humid day in Florida. Another day pondering what normal is going to be and when it is coming.

We had a fantastic dinner at a French restaurant in Naples last night. Just a beautiful setting, service and meal. Very special. It was my Valentine's gift to Mike. We walked through the old downtown and out on the pier before dinner. The number of people on the beach was astounding! I think people have just had it with Covid restrictions.

Today will be a pool day mostly, then visiting with some old friends of Mikes at their home for dinner. Tomorrow is likely much the same, but the friends will be mine. LOL

We have been discussing living together, informally now but maybe formally when we get home in the summer. We will see.

In the meantime, like all of us seem to be feeling, I need to get myself back into a better eating routine. I really don't get all that hungry or crave much when I follow my routines, but that routine has been sorely missing for a while now.

Have a safe and healthy Presidents Day!

Hoping there's some covid safe space for me on the beach in St. Petersburg next week. If not, we'll have our balcony.

Living together brings up all kind of possibilities and decisions. Would one of you move into the others home, or would you get something new together?

We had a nice dinner at home. I'm kind of over take out, with this mind of weather, the food is not in super shape when it gets home, even if it's a short drive. So I cooked, and DD baked. Resisting leftover baked goods so far, although I've only been up 2 hours, so I can't really claim a huge victory yet. :) After dinner we watched Casablanca. Can you believe I'd never seen it in its entirety? Very captivating.

Today is a workshop day, no students. I'm working on the endless cycle of special education paperwork.

Amazon just delivered 2 dresses I ordered that I can use as beach cover ups. I have way too many swim suit cover ups for someone who lives far from the ocean where the weather is only warm 3-4 months a year. They do make me happy though.

Well, back to my scintillating paperwork.

It's the exact opposite of warm and humid here. It's desert dry, and the early morning air temp was -21. We are modeling our climate on Antarctica.

Weight 190.4. At least it happened on my Monday weigh in day! Down 1.6 for the week, 31.8 overall. 2.4 until pre-Covid weight. I'm totally buying myself something sparkly when I get this all off.

It was an endless bad dream night. Lots of yuck. The kind where you wake up and the residue of dream interactions with people in your life carry into the daylight. Ugh. Must shake it off.

My day wear and sleep wear have blurred so much I went to change into my jammies for bed last night and realized I was still in them. I think I need to try harder not to descend into slothdom. It was on the birthday resolution list.

Later today I have my therapist, but no other scheduled items. I do need to fill out a stack of papers for the house I've been avoiding so I can FedEx them back tomorrow.

But right now I'm drinking coffee #2 (Starbucks cinnamon dolce with sugar free vanilla creamer, yum) and watching the Hummingbird Wars in the backyard over the feeder. The ones with the red on their heads are super territorial. They don't seem to drink, but they don't want anyone else to either...

To add to the weather reporting, today will be sunny and 64 in coastal Socal.

Happy Monday all! And a very happy birthday, Peps!

Can't wait to see a pic of the sparkly. Well deserved.

My bird feeders are pretty empty these days. The birds must have found a different yard to shelter in during this polar vortex.

Something sparkly? Yeah! And that will give you a reason to get out of your PJs!

Good Morning All,

Slower to start work today as I have been picking tomatos and washing out the chook and dog waters. Plus we got a rat so I had to sort that - Yay another one gone and a small victory in the veggie patch wars! Im having to pick the tomatos as soon as they start to change colour and they popped on racks on the kitchen table to ripen before going in the fridge. Next Sunday is Sauce and Chutney Day as I am waiting for DH to get home to help. Its looking like it will be over 30 kilos of tomatos to chop up this year. 10 + of ours and I have ordered 20 kilos of Romas from a local grower. I will be glad once its done. Speaking of preserves, I made one batch of zuchinni relish last night - finished around 10pm and got 13 jars. Happy with that. Tonight I am making another zuchinni one - which doesnt have corn so my mum can have some.

Weight - I made myself hop on the scale this morning was 180.4 - disgraceful but down 4lbs from what it was the other day. I only have myself to blame and what I am putting in my mouth. Need to find motivation........ And the energy to act on it. Exercise is out at the moment with the vertigo episodes - Im just managing to keep the city house ok and get all the produce preserved plus work is insane as we near our last 2 weeks before the takeover. I worked 10 hours yesterday and could have easily kept going but forced myself to stop.

Today is just work which will no doubt be maniac then I will likely do the second batch of zuchinni relish. I need to make soup between work and Drs apt so I can get it in the freezer for DS. Only 1 new case yesterday so crossing everything we can come out of the snap lockdown at midnight tommorrow night. I can honestly say I am totally over COVID and it can just F^()^ off. As I am sure you will all agree. Our first shipment of vaccines finally arrived into NSW yesterday - the plan is to start rolling out by the end of this week. Its comforting to know our front line workers will have a bit more protection.

Liz - Glad you had a lovely Valentines Day dinner :)

DD - Lovely you had a nice dinner at home and exciting that your trip is coming up quickly. Something to look forward too

Cec - Yay only 2.4 to go - so proud of you. And cant wait to see what you pick re sparkly :) You so deserve it

Peps - Happy American Birthday xx

Hello to all who follow. I had best go make another cup of tea and get out of my pjs - oh and get some more work done. Have a TO DO list a mile long

Have a lovely evening all
