Another nice weather day in Florida. Shirl, I hope you don't get incapacitated by vertigo. Do you have Ménière's disease? MIL had it and over time it got better but at some points in her life was really difficult. Diane S. I hope you get that yucky stuff out of the carpet. Maybe a professional is needed?

Mike and I danced for the first time at the dinner last night! I had been yearning to do that since we met. No surprise that we were very compatible dancing together.

As you know I had my first vaccine dose (Moderna) yesterday morning. The only thing I noticed by bedtime was that my arm was sore. OMG though, I woke up in the middle of the night with joint and muscle aches everywhere and I was hot and had chills at the same time. I hurt all over. This morning is better though I do feel like I went through a wringer. No side effects other than a sore arm for Mike (yet). I'll still do #2, but take ibuprofen as a preventative. I wonder if the side effects were so severe after the first dose because I already had Covid. Everything I read says this is a good sign of a healthy immune system. I was going to try hitting balls at the driving range today, but it may not be the optimal day to do that.

Have a safe and healthy Thursday!

We continue to experience intermittent snow and frigid temperatures. On Valentine's Day, we have reservations for dinner at the place we got married. We have an early seating, but we will do take out if it is uncomfortably full. As I posted on FB, persistence paid off and we're scheduled for round #1 of the Moderna vaccine tomorrow, and we also have a second appointment prior to SC.

My Forever Blue Medicare provides coverage for virtual therapy via Dr. On Demand. The therapist I was seeing locally still has not resumed her practice and I'm not feeling fact-to-face with masks is a good match for me. My initial session is next week. I feel so much more optimistic than I have been ! Life had been in an uneasy holding pattern for too long! My weight has been stable fifteen (15) pounds over my target range, so getting ready for warmer weather will motivate me to get back down.

I read that you should not take ibuprofen prior to the vaccine. It might dull its effect.

"Q. Should I plan to take Tylenol or Motrin before my vaccine dose?
A. If you regularly take aspirin, acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol) or ibuprofen (e.g. Motrin, Advil) for other medical conditions, please continue to do so as directed by your physician or as needed. Otherwise, do not pre-medicate. In general, pre-medicating with over-the-counter medications that reduce fever or inflammation such as acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol) and ibuprofen (e.g. Motrin, Advil) before receiving a vaccine may reduce its ability to work and can blunt your immune response to the vaccine. The time to take these over-the-counter medications is after you have symptoms that make you uncomfortable after vaccination. If you are uncomfortable, don't hesitate to take an over-the-counter medication to help you feel better. If you usually take these medications for other medical reasons, continue to take them per your normal routine.

I did see that after writing this. The good thing is that I feel fine now. My aches and pains were gone at almost exactly the 24 hour point.

Weight 192.6. Unexpectedly down on the scale this morning. I suspect tomorrow will be higher as I had a bit of a binge yesterday evening (700 calories!). I don't know exactly what brought it on, but I felt lightheaded while walking after having all my 1600 calories for the day. I came home and wanted a snack to see if it made me feel better and it spiraled out of control. That bingey person is still in me.

I have another eye doctor visit today. I had told them the contacts just weren't working for me, but she said I should try again. So back I go.

After sending the pictures of Ferg's eye to the eye specialist, the doctor doesn't want to wait until the end of March to see him. So back we go next week. They said she wasn't saying there was something wrong, but she really needed to see him in person to make sure.

Enjoy your days, everyone.

So I've decided to actually track calories for a bit. I'm not yet sure how committed I'll be. But I have a feeling that my "feeling" about what I'm eating is quite out of tune. In my mind I'll think "oh yeah, I eat 1300 calories." And then after even half a day of tracking, I'm thinking it's wayyyy more. Now I do think there is the effect of thinking about food all the time or being told not to eat something making the forbidden fruit more intriguing. And that's definitely at play here.

So far today

Breakfast:

2 c. coffee w/ 2Tbsp whole milk each

peanut butter protein pancake bake

sf syrup

Lunch:

spicy black bean burger

toasted english muffin

2 Tbsp lite shredded cheese

mustard, lettuce, onion

14 poppables chips salt and vinegar (I really recommend these because this is only half a portion but it feels so voluminous to me)

1 donut hole (I caved with the kiddos!)

708 calories so far

I don't expect to be totally good all day because I think we're having a couple over to watch a movie and they're bringing pizza. But still it's an improvement and at least I can know what I'm doing.

Good Morning All

I hopped on the scales this morning and they did indeed tell me I had a good holiday with a whopping gain !!! Will work on that one but I knew it was coming......

Just work today, cleaner is coming and then I will pack up the dogs and the chooks and drive to the farm. I am going to apply for another job which is close to the farm. Its a government job and I think would be great if I could get into the system as they offer higher super etc. You can but try. The closer we get to finalising this sale the more my stomach churns - I need to give my reservations good consideration.

Liz - Yes I am thinking I will go see someone if it continues as I really dont like the way it just comes on so suddenly and it delapidating. I am feeling nearly back to 100% this morning so will see what happens over the next few days. Sorry you had a reaction in response to the vaccine - that wouldnt have been pleasant at all. Fingers crossed your second one is without issues

Diane O - Glad you have booked to go out for Valentines - especially as its a place that holds a lot of meaning. I hope its not too crowded and you can enjoy eating in

Cec - Hope Fergs eye is ok - fingers crossed

BB - Good on you for tracking - Im thinking that I need to start doing that to get my gain under control - need to be in the right headspace - which Im not at present

We are possibily going into a 3rd lockdown due to escalating cases linked to hotel quarantine....... We now have 13 cases including community transmission - spread by the workers. It is the UK Variant. Hoping they can get it back under control quickly without the need for further lockdown. Mentally it will be the tip point for many businesses and personally. I am thankful I got to have my week in QLD.

Well I had best keep going. Got to get this job application emailed off

Have a wonderful evening and stay safe all

S

Good luck on the government job. You are such a dedicated worker they would be lucky to have you.

The vaccine side-effects were worth it to get out of this blasted pandemic. I feel pretty good tonight, just tired from losing sleep when I was so uncomfortable last night.

You probably read this already too, that people who already had covid often have a bigger reaction to the vaccine due to already having some antibodies. Makes sense. Also young people seem to have more reactions due to a better immune system, while elderly people like my parents can expect an easier go with the first shot, because they have a less robust immune reaction.
