VSG Maintenance Group

So I need to start weighing again. My shorts were very tight yesterday. NOT A GOOD SIGN. Time to get back on the WW routine. Not tracking and having too many snacks is my biggest downfall.
Other than that, we are having a good weekend at Mike's. Last week we were complaining about being cold - today is supposed to be hot and humid with a chance of showers. Florida is always interesting.
Youngest DD (almost 33) thinks she is falling for a new guy. She hasn't dated anybody seriously since her live-in relationship ended about 4 years ago. She has typically dated guys 10-15 years older saying that guys her age were too immature. And they usually have a high-school education and are blue collar workers (she has an MBA and is an insurance manager). This guy is her age, college educated, has a very responsible job, owns his own home, and loves the same sports as DD. She is quite enamored. I hope it works out for her as she has been saying the last few years that she was lonely and wanted to find someone long-term.
Not much else in the works. Have a safe and healthy Saturday!

Weight 192.6. Going the wrong way! I'm up 2.6 this week. Darned iron. Walked 2 miles yesterday. Good on food.
Not much going on this weekend. I know it's the Super Bowl but I'm not interested... so walking is about it. I ought to go out and help out cleaning out my dad's house, but I'm not very motivated to do that.
A grocery visit is in order, but that's it for the day.
Hope you all have good ones!
How nice for your daughter Liz, I hope this young man continues to bring her happiness.
It's very, very cold here, and we will have lots of subzero temps, (some days the HIGH is forecasted to be subzero), for at least a week. I guess this pandemic brings this small gift, I don't really have to deal with going anywhere! I could probably avoid ever going outside this week if I wanted to. DH has to work today, and when he was leaving he asked me what I was planning on doing today, borrowing a line from the Grinch movie, I told him, "stare into the abyss" . There is plenty I could do, but, truly, just trying to keep mentally healthy and being gentle with myself and all of us is about what I can handle. So a little tidying, Nordic Track, and reading most likely.
Meanwhile, I love hearing about the doings of our tribe, both big and small. Human connection has never seemed more important.
My husband is the best at this. When we bought our house on a treeless lot, he dug up saplings from my grandparents farm and planted them. One day a landscaper was driving through the neighborhood, knocking on doors. Landscaper: Would you like to buy some trees and shrubs. DH: No thanks, our yard is fully landscaped. Landscaper, looking dismissively at all our little saplings, : How about some trees with some height. DH: We like them small, it makes the house look bigger.
OMG, I can still see the look on the guy's face, as he just wheeled around and left.
Oh, I checked my work email last night before going to bed, and there was a short survey from our Superintendent asking for our feedback about returning to school in person hybrid this month (in 2 weeks) or waiting until 4th quarter (April) and returning fulltime, all students. I answered the survey and am just trying to tell myself whatever model is happening, I'll do my best within that model. The uncertainty can be maddening for planners (already planned out the Romeo and Juliet unit through mid March thinking we would be in hybrid soon), but, as we like to say in Minnesota, well what are ya gonna do? Meaning, complaining only goes so far in the face of things you can't change, so better to just go with it.
Well, I did my "weekly weigh in" and was none to pleased to see I was right back where I started two weeks ago. Perhaps this is why I am not supposed to be weighing right now. LOL! However, in all honesty, I did not concentrate on weight loss at all this week. Food wise it was more along the lines of getting by with minimal compulsive eating. My hamstrings are also super sore (sitting on the toilet sore, as we like to say in the work out world), as are my lower interior lats and serratus anterior muscles, so I may be holding on to some water.
Good news.... I got Ron an appointment for his vaccines! Told my dad and brother about it and my dad about blew a casket because he still has not gotten his and his HMO keeps telling him they will contact him. So, long story short, after a few conversations with the county health department I got my dad scheduled for his vaccines, too! Yay!
Bad news.... California has now prioritized teachers for the vaccine. Our group has moved up to be eligible for vaccination. That's why I was on the phone with the county health department to begin with - trying to get my own vaccines scheduled. While the state has approved teacher vaccinations, and the surrounding counties have followed suit, my county is not honoring the opening of that tier yet. So, in my county I am still ineligible to get the vaccine. However, 15 minutes west, north or east teachers can get vaccinated. Booooo! I have to go back with kids on the 22nd, so I'd really like to get vaccinated ASAP.
I, too, have little that I must do today, so I am enjoying a bit of coffee after a VERY LEISURELY morning in bed. I got up with the dogs and then went back to bed until after 9:00, floating in and out, petting dogs, and enjoying the view of the sun shining on the bare trees against an exceptionally blue sky. It was a pretty, pretty view from my bed this morning.
