It is Mike's and my six month anniversary today. It seems very significant somehow. Maybe because we feel closer all the time especially since our 4 week break. I find myself wanting to see him constantly on the days we are apart. I wonder though if that is because of the lack of activities due to Covid? I have an urge to live together but I think we should play it by ear the way we have been at least through the remainder of the season here.

Dinner at Mike's clubhouse was really nice last night. Today we are going to poke around in Cocoa Beach which neither of us has been too, then dinner out at what is supposed to be the nicest restaurant in the area here.

Not much else to report. The next vaccine competition is tomorrow morning. Can't say I am looking forward to it.

Have a safe and healthy Thursday!

Ugh, vaccine competition. Have you seen the reports that if you already had covid, one shot will probably give you all the antibodies you need. Two shots are still recommended, but it does make some sense. Researchers are learning more everyday.

It's snowing with messy roads this morning. Today is a nice day to work from home. It's cozy in my little office, looking out my window at the snow falling.

Diane, looking forward to some pictures of your sewing projects created with your awesome new machine.

Bonnie, I'm so glad to hear you made it through another round of layoffs, but yes, that level of stress is awful. Hoping for better days in your DH's industry.

Shirl, it was so nice to hear from you yesterday. Glad you got away for a break from all that is going on.

Cecily, now that your Dad's house sold, when do you think you'll put your house on the market?

Looking forward to, and sort of dreading the transition to in person teaching again. Overall, I think it will be for the best. I'm starting to lose motivation as covid and winter drag on. I'm still on my game with the students, but I'm dragging my feet when it comes to paperwork. Normally I just try to knock it out as it comes, so I can cross it off my list and not have to think about it, even if it means working into the evening. I just can't quite muster up that level of ambition. Being back in the building with students should energize me. Planned date is February 22.

So back to that paperwork, and then live classes and individual webex meetings.

Oh, and Liz Happy Anniversary! I remember you said you are going back to Massachusetts to celebrate your son's birthday. When will you go back to Massachusetts for the spring/summer?

I will be going back to Massachusetts for four days in early March for my son's birthday but I won't return for the summer until probably early to mid May.

Weight 190.8, tiny move up, but 2.8 from pre-Covid!

Ooh, I was lazy yesterday. But I did drag myself out for a 2.2 mile walk in between the 6:30 and 7:30pm dog pill times.

How has two weeks gone so fast and it's already time for me to furiously pick up my house for the cleaning people? And will I ever be a tidy person who doesn't have to do this? At my age, it's probably a lost cause and the cleaning people are the only ones saving me from becoming buried in my own stuff.

I also have a dental cleaning today. Look at me, going in 6 months and not waiting 2 years!

DD, my plan was to wait for sweet Ferg to pass and then travel around and check places out on my short list of places I might want to live. He's 21 months past when the vet said he would likely go, so I think he's actually beaten the heart disease with good food and meds and the stinker is happy and doing well. His back legs don't work very well so I imagine further deterioration there will signal when it's time. Maybe I need to get a friend I trust to stay with him while I go look (but then travel/Covid, so that feels weird and somewhat wrong too). In the meantime I have plenty to focus on cleaning out my dad's house and my own! We have a 30 day escrow and can rent bac****il the end of March to move out. We still haven't gotten to negotiating what if any furniture they want (I'm hoping they want a lot. It's 7200 sq ft of large scale furniture and antiques we'd be hard-pressed to reuse).

Happy 6 month anniversary, Liz!

Alright, must go start shoving things into closets and drawers...

We have hardy pets! Our Whiskers is turning 19 in April. Back in the day when his brother cat Woody was alive, it was pretty easy to leave them when we traveled. They had each other, and they ate dry food, so we would just ask someone to check on them every couple of days. Dogs are of course, a different story. Now Whiskers is more high maintenance. He eats 3 times a day, canned food. He needs a laxative e/o day. (I can't tell you how many conversations we've had about the cat's poop). He's lost peripheral vision and some hearing so he gets confused about where we are if we can't make eye contact. But he seems quite healthy for an old guy, and is in heaven with my daughter living at home. Once this Covid quarantine let's up a bit though, I'm not sure what we will do for him when we travel.

So you know! I wouldn't trade him for anything, but it's hard to be so tied to the house and his schedule and meds, not so much during Covid as I'm home mostly, but going out to my dad's for dinner requires a lot of planning. Leaving him for any length of time would be a production.

And when it comes right down to it, we wouldn't trade the planning and the responsibility for anything! It's simply what we do for the pets we love.

Nope! He's been my responsibility since he was 9 weeks old and it's been a joy - even the hard parts.

Good old Ferg! It proves that love, good food and exercise makes a big difference. Will you do an estate sale for furniture the new owners don't want? Wow, would I love to check some of those antiques out!
