I am back in my place after my almost 3 hour drive yesterday afternoon. It is getting old and harder to leave. I left at about the very last point I could to get back before dark. Mike is coming for the weekend, though I am staying for the week.

I met a couple yesterday who got married 10 years ago while in their mid 40's after knowing each other for 2 weeks. It made me wonder if I being over-cautious, but I would guess it depends on the individuals. She did say that it was quite a struggle in the beginning...

Fun stuff like laundry, bills, food shopping, and a Justice walk today.

Have a safe and healthy day and stay away from warm cinnamon rolls (also a huge draw for me)!

They announced a tentative return date for hybrid in person instruction:February 22. I am scheduled to go to Florida February 23. The days were approved in December and I will still go. I'll miss the "first days of school" again. I don't like that, but not enough to change my plans.

Right now, the infection rate numbers in our county are double the recommended number for in person high school. But since we're trending down, administrators project they will be in that range next month. In my mind, I've never thought the actual numbers would have much of a bearing on any decisions. It's political. Surrounding districts are going back, so now we will too. We're the last one, so I guess I can be grateful some caution was used.

It is very unlikely we will be vaccinated by then. Elementary started back in person this week, so they are understandably first in line. Last week our district was allocated 20 doses. I don't know what the numbers were for this week.

I don't have a lot of strong feelings either way. It will be nice to see the kids. But I have no choice, if they say teach in the building, then I will.

In other news, my weight loss for this month looks to be about 3 pounds. My family is trying to reassure me that it will get better and my husband thinks that the stress of all the medical issues creates biochemical changes that make weight loss more difficult. I know I can't eat any less than I do right now. I am not exercising regularily, that would probably help with the weight loss and the stress. Onward!

3 pounds loss is way better than 3 pounds gain. I think you are doing great given all the bodily changes and the inability to exercise!

3 pounds is great, Diane! I'm not sure what you want to lose, but if you want to lose 30, that's 10% and nothing to sneeze at. My average per month isn't much higher. But just knowing I'm firmly on the path, I am less and less concerned with when I get where I'm going.

I am so hopeful that the present administration can get this vaccine ball rolling. DH and I are on a county wait list-supposedly any where between 2 and 6 weeks out. We'll see.

Hi.

I am returned from what I'm going to call a mental health holiday. It was not enjoyable and certainly not a holiday. I know that when I stop "doing" much of anything other than what is absolutely necessary Mr. Depression is knocking on my door. It becomes difficult at that point to the self perpetuating nothingness- Depression for me manifests as a block of inaction -participation which feeds the depression that fuels further movement. A circle game.

My attempts (as Peps would say) at JFDI- are not and have not been working well (as evidenced lack of posting here). So, off to the therapist with me. Had my first appointment Monday.Who knows if cause is physical or mental (have dwelt with on again off again most of my adult life)- Therapist suggests I make it my job to be involved- fake it till I make it, I guess. He thinks this is organic - either my anti-depressant is no longer working (have dwelt with on again off again most of my adult life) or there is a malabsorption issue due to the Whipple.....next visit is Monday when recommendations will be made.

It's ta-ta for now. Will try to check back in.

So good to see you back. Hopefully you and your therapist can come up with a solution which works longer-term for you.

So glad you are here!!!! I also notice a depressive episode starts for me with a lack of motivation to do much of anything. You are not alone in that! Hopefully, therapy will lead to some relief. I know it can take time, but I do believe the process is worth it. For me adding a medication was a game changer.
