Crud - just lost what I wrote.

I was remarking that I thought in the past that though there were party lines which most adhered to it didn't seem all that abnormal for someone to cross them when it made sense. That seems rare and almost dangerous these days.

I heard this song in the car today by Time McGraw and Tyler Hubbard and I really liked it for this difficult time: https://youtu.be/gGjJhmbUm8E

And LOL on the "meme"!

Great song! Tim McGraw is an inspiration for WL, too! He went from chubby and soft to studly and hard bodied, for sure!

"STOP IT!" was the phrase I shouted at the top of my lungs sometime around 3 am this morning, waking all dogs and humans in the house! LOL! Scared the **** out of Ron. I have been having really odd dreams the past several nights and last night was no different. My dreams last night dealt with conflict (my mom and I arguing), embarrassment (sharting my pants and then having to use a toilet that had no privacy- just a toilet in a stairwell that people were using to exit and enter), stress (car being crushed by a crashed airplane on the roof top of the building in which I was using the toilet - yes, the car was parked on the roof????). I had one dream the other night that bothered me to such a degree I just had to put it out of my mind. Unfortunately, it is one of those dreams that is NOT melting into the recesses of my brain, like those dreams of last night are.

BB, thanks for the nice compliment. I have learned a few things, as I said, that are helping me see both sides of the picture. What I am most interested by is the freedom of speech and censorship issues that have come to light. I am having a great deal of fun learning about the difference between using social media as a private platform vs. public platform. Another fascinating commonality I have noticed is that both sides of the political spectrum are using Nazi Germany and the rise of Hitler as examples to illustrate their own points. Certainly thought provoking to really examine the concepts being put forth - especially given that my mother was raised in Nazi Germany and I grew up with stories about her wartime life and her perception of Hitler and the war.

I am noticing that the absence of the scale in my daily life is sharpening the focus on my actual nutrition and intake. I am committed, too, to the nightly look in the glass focusing on what I appreciate about my body and its strength. I am feeling hopeful that things are finally, truly, actually starting to come together for me. This eating disorder acceptance and management is much more difficult than the JFDI approach. Sure hope putting my trust in this long haul process pays off in spades.

Question: What do you all consider late night eating? Is there anything you consider okay to eat after dinner? Do you plan an evening snack or is after dinner eating "taboo"? I'm curious where we all fall on this particular topic.

I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO MAKE THE TOMATO LENTIL SOUP RECIPE CECI SHARED WITH US. IT IS REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GOOD! (yes, a little salty, but still super duper yummy!)

I'm so glad you liked the soup! I felt like it dried out my eyeballs! But I will definitely make it again because the other flavors were great with an eye toward cutting the sodium.

As far as late night eating, I was in bed reading when you posted about getting ready to eat dinner. Haha. These days if I'm alone (and 99.999% of the time I am), I eat dinner between 4 and 5 feeling no early bird shame or guilt.

So coffee at 8, lunch at noon, dinner at 4/5, then a couple of snacks (extended dinner items) between then and 6. I'm usually done for the day by then.

Sounds like no added salt and low-salt broth is a good idea?

I would. You can always add a bit at the end if it needs it. That would have cut the sodium by almost 1600g a bowl. You get an olive piece in nearly every bite which gives a lot of that salty flavor, so the broth doesn't need it as much.

Thanks for the soup review! I just made more of that roasted pepper sauce I had posted the other day for my chicken tonight because it was so tasty.

I HAVE to plan an evening snack. I know myself enough to guarantee that I will be getting into all kinds of carby, no value foods if I don't. I am just not that hungry until late afternoon but then the monster rears it's ugly head. I plan an afternoon snack as well. Whenever I have tried to skip either one it is disastrous.

I am definitely going to try that sauce. Sounds easy and really tasty!

My snacks are hardboiled eggs, string cheese, apples, Triscuit thins (not sure how I control myself with them, but so far so good), bananas, cherry tomatoes, less sugar added Chobani yogurt, single serving packs of pistachios in shells...

Late night eating- oh, my. Tonight I just happen to be upstairs early 10 pm because if I stay downstairs I will pick and graze and undo any good done during the day.

I do sometimes have a taste of this or a bit of that late in the evening. Most of the time that is all I need- spoonful of yogurt or pb. - about 100 calories worth. I would call that on plan. It is when a taste turns into grazing late night eating turns into food consumption- not good. My only defense is to physically remove myself away from the source-

As far as meals are concerned time is variable- if lunch is late, dinner might be at 8 or 9 o'clock.

Greetings All

Not much going on here. Its a lovely day but I spent it on a zoom meeting and going to the bank for the gallery. Junk sure piles up.

Cecily that soup looks great. I just made lentils and veggies but may add a jar of home canned tomatoes and revise the dish. One thing about having home canned tomatoes is we did them with no salt. I think you can buy them with reduced salt. Olives in anything sure adds salt but what's not to like? I made the lentils for the football game monday and we will fini**** up today.

BB I am also very curious about the legal theories in all this conflict. I looked up the supreme court pleadings on one of the election cases so I could see what they were arguing. I really want all this stuff over with but people are too riled up to just let it go. Meanwhile good for you for taking your kids to the mall. I am like you - I want to feel fabric and check what its made from. Its amazing how many web sites don't tell you that (read: polyester).

Peps good on you for staying away from the scale. I am doing the same but for the wrong reasons. And I am glad I am not the only one with weird dreams.

Liz hope you get your vaccine appointment. No clue when us oldsters up here will get it but I can wait my turn. Teachers first I think.

Well time for my nap listening to the yelling on CNN.

Diane S
