I could not believe the events yesterday. I am appalled and so disgusted with the behavior encouraged from the highest level. Can we make it through the next 13 days? Is the inauguration going to be safe from anarchy, not to mention Covid.

With that said, I am going to Mike's today for 3-4 days. It will be interesting to see how it feels to be with him again after 4 weeks apart. He has been doing a lot to prepare which makes me nervous.

Oh, and weight 131.4 which is .2 above my weight when I last weighed on 12/24. I was just hoping I was under 135 so I am okay with this. I have had 3 days of being pretty good about my eating. Another thing to be vigilant about at Mike's, as I think he has a lot of plans for going out to eat. Whenever I say I can't eat whatever he is having he says he wants to lose weight with me I already know it is just lip service. DH never needed to lose weight but he always supported me when I changed my eating style. Mike acts like he wants to eat less then subtly encourages bad behavior. So I need to figure out how to work my plan in this environment.

Have a safe and healthy day free from anarchy!

I am so sick of politics. I'm baffled by what happened yesterday. I never liked Trump's packaging but I did like his policies but now it's clear why civility and honesty and integrity do matter. All that aside, there is a large group of people, normal people, who believe the election was stolen. Whether they've believed a lie from the top or there is unproved truth--so much mending needs to be done. EAch state needs to have a solid process--especially for mail-in/absentee ballots--in the next election. And once we've committed to that, or perhaps before, there needs to be a renewed commitment to honoring the results of elections. No talk about Russian interference for 4 years. No hanging chads. No murmurs of fraud without evidence. Our system of justice doesn't operate on a "gut feeling." I really really hope that the incoming president and Congress can try to be better. It would be so easy not to, especially now.

I don't understand how my weight dropped yesterday but it at least is feeling more manageable. I ate a lot again yesterday. EEsh. But at least I'm getting rid of the bad food. Lol. I wish I were kidding.

We have covid in our house. R tested positive. Somehow I am negative. So I think either I'll get it or I've already had it? Maybe I should be isolating from him but that's just so difficult. The little babies scream for him, especially now that he's working from home. I'm not at all worried about them. Children/babies seem to fare extremely well. I am asthmatic so I'm being careful. Definitely no smooching or drinking after him.

I thought 2021 would be better. I'm bummed. I must control what I can control. Which feels like not much at all right now.

Sorry to hear Covid has reached your home. :( It's a crazy virus, I know people who did not get it while living with someone who was infected, let's hope your one of them.

Oh, so sorry about the Covid, Be well, be careful and hope that DH has the so called mild version- any of it must be unpleasant.

Your points on politics are well stated!

So sorry Covid ha**** but hopefully it will be mild like mine. Weirdly I have found out that a lot of other people other than me have had it but if mild have been embarrassed to say anything. They tell me quietly once they find out I had it. I think this contributes to the fear since only the more serious cases are publicized.

Excuse my absence yesterday. I was here in the a.m. and intending to return later in the day - can't imagine what it was that caught and occupied my attention- oh, yah....

For years and years I have watched with growing concern an educational system that has perpetuated the myth that history is dead and social studies is an unnecessary course of study steadily cutting out of state educational graduation requirements because that time could be better spent ( on just about anything else). Anecdotally I have innumerable examples of failed attempts at exposing students to the necessary concepts needed to understand, navigate, interact, and positively impact the country they live in because they did not have the basics necessary. How can one comprehend and critically use a political system when they cannot even name the three branches of government- let alone understand said system? The result??????? Sheeple----Tools----Pawns---of the Asswipes that DO know exactly what they are doing- who use and abuse their office- the system- the kind of people (who couldn't critically think their way out of a paper bag, let alone discern and act independently ---whose miss-interpretation of the function of our great system of government is to cater to the welfare of "ME" instead of the "WE".

We reap what we sow.. yesterday was the result of that crop of "informed" citizens and so-called-public servants . I am distressed, angered, and sickened by it.

Where does the above belong in this VSGmaintenance forum? Don't know- just where I'm at today...

Like everyone, I am deeply shook by what I saw yesterday, but even more spooked by extended family and others who are justifying what happened and one who insists Obama's inflammatory language created this situation. If I could, I would leave this country. I'm tired of living in a blue state that sends more money to the federal government than it gets in return, subsidizing red states like Alabama, while being called a libertard or a snowflake. I will not ferment further discord by getting into exchanges with people of this mindset. Nor do I want unity with them. How many times can you reach across the divide and called names, or, being told people like you are probably going to hell. Those people storming the Capitol and those that make excuses for them do not like people like me. They only reason they might talk to me is to try and bully me into their cult. I'm tired of trying to understand their perspective. They say they enjoy my liberal tears, now they can enjoy my apathy.

On a positive note, I did not give into comfort eating. I stuck to my plan. That's a big win for me.

So, time to turn back to the business at hand today: trying to support students. I'm glad I have this to focus on these days.

True communication only takes place when there is a willing receiver *****spectfully tries to understand another's POV/information/idea. It does flow both ways, so yes, right now words are being exchanged and used as matches to burn the other party. Not safe, not cool, - Sometimes apathy is one's last defense against such verbal abuse.

Thank you. I guess this is a good example of true communication, you make me feel heard. And a good point about apathy ....
