Friday, DC woke up achy and had a sore throat. I had a headache and diarrhea. We both have congested heads. To be safe, we were tested and the results come in 3-5 days, so we're hoping to know by tomorrow. We were instructed to isolate until the results are back. I went back to bed for four hours yesterday and am down three pounds today, probably loss of fluids. Neither of us has a fever or significant loss of taste/smell. I don't think I would have even considered Covid if Liz and Mike hadn't tested positive with their mild symptoms. Have a Walmart delivery today. Thankfully, the snow cyclone is FAR east of us, and we only got a dusting.

Good luck Diane. I hope it isn't Covid, but you are correct that the symptoms can be all over the place. Mike had a headache and diarrhea early on and then the chest congestion where my symptoms have almost entirely been like a head cold. Mike hasn't lost taste/smell. My sense of taste is only partially blunted and did not happen right away. Really weird illness. Take care, rest and hydrate!
Only 2 days left to our quarantine (after today). It is getting harder to keep amused the longer we are completely locked down and my sense of taste is returning making me crave more food. I have read 4 books in 4 days, binged the entire Queens Gambit, and watched half of the first season of The Crown. Plus both Christmas Chronicle movies and most of my regular drama/comedies. We did take a walk around most of the neighborhood after dark last night (masks on), since no one was out. It felt so good to stretch our legs and Justice badly needed some exercise.
Oh and Mike's FBI son has Covid too, though he had another exposure two days after we last saw him. Because of the timing of it he thinks it is the second exposure that he got it from. He is just tired - no other symptoms.
ETA: I am weighing again - 127.6
Stay safe, healthy and hopefully Covid free!

So interesting how differently COVID affects different people. Reading Liz's and Diane's descriptions of symptoms and Liz's activity level triggered my memory of that first week of illness. Started with the simple scratchy throat. Then the congestion and super dry cough. Then feeling that there was something in my bronchia that I couldn't cough up. Then I started with the inhaler and used it multiple times daily over about a two week period. Next came the mild headache and the diarrhea (at moments almost uncontrolled - actually pooped my pants once) next was the Pink Eye. First the right eye and then the left. The fever came with the first Pink Eye and was one of those "I can't get out of bed to put on more clothes because the shivering will become uncontrollable" and then morphed into the being drenched in sweat fever break. The exhaustion was on going for weeks. The respiratory recovery took months (and I'm not 100% in that department, IMO). I never lost taste or smell and never felt "short of breath", but I also think I misinterpreted what short of breath meant. I could certainly get the breath I needed, but there were times I had to focus on it.
Sadly, I think many people assume they will get a light case like Liz and Mike, if they get it at all, and thus the lackadaisical attitude regarding social distancing and masking up. I saw pictures on FB last night of my BIL, SIL, and niece on Ron's side all maskless enjoying a shopping spree at Magnolia in TX. Really pissed me off. I have never really cared much for the SIL and since she has moved to TX she has become more difficult for me to tolerate. Seeing her last night in the pictures made me question whether or not I will ever be able to forget/forgive her disregard for others' safety. She's a smug, self aggrandizing, piece of work in general, but the whole TX and Covid climate has brought it out in spades. YUCK.... Well, there's my dirty laundry for the day.

I know how careful you are, Diane. Any idea how you might have gotten sick? Sending good thoughts your way for fast healing and that it's something different!
Weight down today.
Five of my book auctions finished last night with two to go. $381.50 so far for 74 books! Gobsmacked as my British friend would say. If I can get more boxes, I have lots more to do, though I doubt they'll be as impressive as those were all my bigger named authors. What do I know, though. I thought I'd be lucky to make $40. I'm keeping track of all my clutter sales. This brings me to $636.50. That almost pays for redoing all my stucco!
Today will be hunting online to see if I can find one of Ferg's heart pills. There is a nationwide shortage and the manufacturer said it won't be available until January 1. I will be short a week.
Liz, I just now finished the Queen's Gambit. Wow, so good. And I don't play chess. Moving on to the Christmas Chronicles 2 today.
I hope everyone has a good day!
Good Morning from the Farm All,
We had a lot of rain Saturday and Sunday and its much cooler. Had close friends for dinner last night and we had to fire up the shed heater - I had planned a BBQ which was nice but had I known how cold it would be - I would have made a stew or something! It was a lovely night. She is a gifted seamstress and made me a stunning linen summer dress - it feels so amazing on. I feel very very spoilt. We both have December birthdays. I got her a beautiful Royal Doulton Tea Cup and Saucer - shes like me and loves a nice cup of tea or 5 ha ha ha
Our youngest heifer went over to live at BIL's with her calf yesterday. Im sad to see her go but glad we could gift her to him as its been his bull that has serviced all our girls over the past 2 years and their new bull will continue to do so. He is also the one that brings us whole Lambs - so I think its worked out well :)
Im working from the farm today then driving home. Need to check everything at the city house. I will be back up on Friday night again.
Diane O - crossing everything that you dont have COVID - thinking of you
Peps - nothing makes my blood boil more than irresponsible people!
Liz - Glad you are doing a bit better - I loved Queens Gambit. Im watching the new season of the Crown when time permits - Its making me feel very sorry for Diana indeed......
Cec - Wow - well done on the book sales. Thats fabulous :)
Well I had best get my butt into gear and start work. Im working from the shed today and its a little cool but the mini house only fits one of us in there at the table so I told DH to set up in there as he is here full time. I will keep the puppies company
Love to you all and stay well xx

I agree that your country has done a much better job of managing the pandemic and you shouldn't feel guilty about seeing your family now. I feel guilty about having seen my daughter and ending up with this. Thank goodness none of my friends here got it from me.

My Aussie sister is in day 3 of her quarantine in a Sydney hotel. They have a beautiful suite, which they are not allowed to leave until the quarantine is complete. They split their time between New Castle South Wales and Salt Lake City Utah. (Her husband is from my little hometown). Her husband is a very restless guy, who hikes, rides his motorcycle, camps, and is constantly working on their property. It's going to be a long 2 weeks, but then they will see kids and grandkids and friends more freely than we can here.
I realized I am going days at a time without leaving the house myself. Literally. If I don't go to the mailbox, I don't even step foot outside. I did need to go to the store on Thursday, and didn't know where my every day black ankle boots were. I actually lost track of my outdoor shoes. This is a bit concerning. I don't feel despair, or general hopelessness, but I do feel kind of numb some days. We are experiencing "warm" weather, above average temps for December. The forecast is for 50 degrees on Wednesday, so a couple of friends are going to meet up in my backyard for a bonfire and hot chocolate. We currently have no snow cover, so must seize these opportunities before some zub zero Siberian air comes blasting through.
Ocean Diane, I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. It was wise to get tested.
Peps, kind of glad your SIL lives in Texas, so you don't have to deal with her directly during Covid. Some of my extended family is also reckless, even if we were not being asked to keep our indoor gatherings to two households, we would not see them.
Cecily, decluttering is really paying off. (Terrible pun, couldn't resist).
Liz, glad you are getting out for evening walks. What did you read? Any recommendations?
Enjoy what is left of the weekend!
