Thanksgiving 2020

Happy Thanksgiving! I echo Liz! I'm grateful to have you all in my life.
I'm up, drinking my coffee and thinking about the order of what needs to be cooked. I do all my mom's recipes, so it's a very nostalgic meal. My favorite of the year. Got to go get the turkey stock going on the stove!
Lucky me is starting the day off at my low range wait. (Which is still, well, you know...)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.
Bird is already in the oven. I am a little overwhelmed by the size of the turkey Auntie Kathryn brought over on Tuesday night. It is a 28 pound bird - for 4 people! She is a little nuts about how meat is raised and wanted a pastured, no antibiotic, organic, etc... turkey. I said go for it. 14 pounds please. What Whole Foods gave her is double that, even though she ordered a 14-16 pound bird. It was too big to brine, so I'm going with the old fashioned butter basted turkey method and hoping for the best. Everything else is pretty much set to go.
Garage door fell off the track last night after hours. This was after several hours working in the garage and feeling good about the progress made cleaning and organizing. Had to make room for repair guy to work, so there went the organization of my junk, donate and keeping "piles". I guess I can put it all back together tomorrow or Saturday. Oh, and they really sock it to you for labor on a holiday.... minimum 2 hour charge at double and a 1/2. What I am thankful for is that at this time in my life those kinds of charges are not financially stressful. 20 years ago that would have been a financial burden. Garage door is now back on track and all the rollers were replaced with the proper length roller so this won't happen again.
Hope everyone has a lovely day.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all - I am very thankful to be a part of this special group - such wisdom care and support
Waking up to dreadful news. Our friends (In San Fran) lost their teenage daughter to cancer overnight. My heart is truely breaking for them. Its hard to be so far away and unable to offer more than words as comfort. I have decided we will plant a group of Angophora costata trees - the common name is Sydney Red Gum. Beautiful Majestic trees. Her mom took us through the Redwood forest when we visited so I think its a good fit. My hope is that one day they can visit the farm and we can have a picnic under Sydney's trees and remember. Life doesnt make sense sometimes.
Busy day and both of my stepchildren arrive with partners and our grandsons at dinner time. Im cooking a big roast. Thankful to be able to have a busy but full family weekend.
Much love to you all and stay safe

Oh Shirl, so sorry for your friends and you too. Nothing is worse than the loss of a child. Your remembering and commemorating their daughter will mean so much to them over time.
