Newsom keeps upping the restrictions and shutting businesses, including severely limiting Thanksgiving gatherings and then gets caught at one of the most expensive restaurants in the state eating indoors, right up next to each other, no masks, with 12 people from different households including the president of the California Medical Association and their head lobbyist. And then he sends 8 lawmakers to Hawaii for a voter "conference" rubbing elbows with lobbyists for a week when we have 14 day quarantines in place and advisories to not travel except when necessary. One rule for the rulers, another for the peasants.

Do as I say, not as I do is never popular. Here in Florida we have Desantis who hasn't really set ANY rules after he lifted the initial restrictions. And the original ones imposed in March were only ordered because he was being criticized for not doing anything. He backed them off because of the business owners pressure and now leaves it up to the counties so it is super inconsistent here. People do wear masks and stay distanced/outside mostly in Mike's area because almost everyone is older. Much less of that in my area.

IMHO, it's all at a great cost. Maybe too great. And the rules are very arbitrary.

I think the idea is that people drink more and more into the night and by 2am you might have great numbers of younger people drinking, maskless, at the bar. Which is why, As of yesterday, our bars and restaurants close at 11pm.

I detest these limits on our freedom. But tbh if restaurants are such a big issue, why wait til 11pm to close them? Close them altogether. Or limit the occupancy. (Again I wouldn't be in favor of these by a long shot, but most restaurants here close at 10pm so if spread while eating is true, that's what would make the most sense)

Okc has been under a mask mandate for several months now. And there is high compliance. And yet our numbers are exploding. Even with masks. Even with masks on kids in schools. So what gives?

The one thing that is giving me fuel is that this vaccine is on the way and maybe we can try to isolate just long enough for that. But if that's 6+M away, forget it.

Well, as my mother used to say, nothing good happens after 1am, which I guess now includes spreading Covid!
