Weight 128.8. Yep, I finally stepped on the scale. I am up by exactly 2 pounds over my weight the day before we left on our trip (18 days ago). At least I am under 130 which I was praying for. It may be a bit high because I usually am after steak which I had last night. But that may be wishful thinking. So at least a month or so of eating low is required. I will be attending my WW meeting this morning.

I enjoyed meeting Mike's son and I think I passed with him as he hugged me when we left. He is very smart, intense, and driven. And super handsome! It might be dangerous for youngest DD to meet him, LOL. I can see Mike in him so much! Like a glimpse into a young Mike.

My future grand nephew was supposed to be born today as his Mom was being induced last night, but they sent them home because there were no beds. So they were back to the hospital at 6:30 am this morning. So it still may happen today but that must have been so frustrating. I have the start of the Christmas stocking I am going to knit for him, but I have to wait until I have a name to go any further. Below is a picture of the pumpkin hat knitted by the future Nana (my SIL), the model stocking which I knit for oldest DD 48 years ago, and my start on the new stocking.

Have a safe, healthy and as pain free a day as possible!

Good morning! My back started to let go of the spasms yesterday so I stopped the hardcore meds as they made me sick again at lunch. So I'm on Advil and I slept really well. I tried to call off the cleaning people because tidying for the cleaning people is beyond my physical capacity right now, but I don't think they got my message, so I'm going to hole up in my room and let them clean the soot off everything else and work around my messes.

The fundraiser for the 2 badly burned firefighters has now raised over $423,000 from 4300 donors. I'm blown away by my neighbors' donation amounts, many giving thousands in gratitude for their homes being saved. Not a single house was lost with 100,000 people evacuated. Does my heart good to live among these people. The firemen were not full time employees so they don't have benefits. They will need all the help they can get.

On my list for today - I need to pick a physical therapist and make an appointment, get some groceries, and that's about it.

Oh, finally weighed myself. The scale was up, but the opioids didn't help my digestion in any way. Feeling sorry for myself, I almost ordered takeout, but decided in the end not to add insult to injury and ate what I had. Tiny win for me! Self-pity is often a food trigger for me...

Glad your back is already on the mend.

Oh, I love the pumpkin beanie!!!! So great. As for your knitting skills.... I bow down to you. That stocking you made for Elise is amazing to me. I can crotchet, but knitting was never a gift. My mom could knit, but it's not something I got good at. Crotchet was much easier for some reason. I can make a mean Granny Square! LOL!

Weight for me is stable without much effort these days. This is a good thing.

I am also feeling a bit better since Tuesday afternoon when I got to work out and really push myself. The endorphins kicked in for sure and lasted well into yesterday. Yesterday we also got to have dinner with one of our extended bubble family members (after I trimmed their 7 month old puppy), so that was a nice "happening". Went to bed at a reasonable hour and had a fairly good sleep.

Journaling and monitoring my food intake this week has been a challenge. Mainly, I'm feeling like it's a chore and when it is a chore, it feels diet-y. The whole diet thing makes my rebel kick in and before you know it, ta da! I'm "forgetting" to journal. Very sneaky way of my eating disorder maintaining a modicum of control.

Autumn seems to have arrived to my part of CA. It's getting down to the 40s at night and staying chilly-ish during the morning hours. However, yesterday, it did warm up to almost 80 in the afternoon. This morning was BRISK! I actually changed into jeans after going outside. LOL! I am the man who dresses like a kid in shorts as much as possible. So if I'm wearing jeans, it's because I have to!

I think some people live in shorts year round EVEN in New England. Funny about knitting vs crocheting. I can do both but much prefer and am better at knitting. I was a little worried about being able to do it because I think I last knit something about 25 years ago and my hands have arthritis but it is just like getting back on a bicycle.

Good Morning All

Last day of the working week and our cleaner comes back - Im wrapt. Will be lovely to have a clean house by lunchtime without me having to do it

Had a lovely pedicure, paraffin wax dip and eyebrow wax last night. Feel a lot better. Got all Mums running around done. She is coming over early afternoon to collect it all.

Started watching a new series on Netflix - The Queens Gambit - was reasonably good. Either way it meant I stayed up till midnight to finish the third episode

DH and I have taken Monday off as Annual Leave as Tuesday is a holiday so we intend to get a lot done around the city house prior to him going to the farm. Supposed to be raining next few days so we will see how we go.

Liz - well done on only putting on 2 lbs after all that travel - you have done super well and glad meeting Mikes son went so well :) Always a relief. The stockings are gorgeous :) As is the pumpkin hat - Hes a lucky boy

Cec - Good news your back has stopped spasming and you managed to get a good sleep. Good also the cleaners are coming and you will have a nice clean and tidy house when you come out of your room

Peps - My Eldest Son is exactly like that - in fact both my sons are shorts men. Even through winter in High School - they refused to wear long pants

Well I had best go get organised for the cleaner coming. Need to get out of my pjs :)

Have a wonderful evening all

Just checking in to say hi, before a pre dinner nap. Love, love the knitting. I like to knit washclothes, but even these simple items have wavy edges. Glad you're off the big meds Cecily, and it's probably for the best the cleaners are coming if there is soot. Peps I frequently tease my son he dresses like he did when he was 5, elastic sports shorts and a t shirt. There are students who wear shorts to school year round in Minnesota! When it gets cold, they throw on a hoodie. Shirl, how did you find a husband with as much drive to get things done as you?

My husband and daughter are going to a drive through haunted house set up. You pay by the car, so they want me to come along. No thanks, I don't need to have ghouls running out of the dark smearing fake blood on my car window. Haunted houses are never on my to do list. I'm glad it exists for my daughter's sake though, she loves Halloween, and does multiple night's activities in Salem every year. Her and her friends wear a different costume for each night.

Eating not awesome today, although I did eat some healthy foods along with the sugar today. Getting through the week is my big goal, I just don't have a lot of energy to fight the carb monster right now.

I saw 4 fire trucks from San Francisco in my neighborhood today. Squeezes my heart to have help from so far away. There were firefighters from 52+ agencies helping here!

First responders really put their lives on the line wherever they need to don't they?
