I found one of the unmarked rabbit holes I believed I was too vigilant to overlook. My last post weeks ago was indicative of my descent. There were too many activations of too many old tapes in too short a time. I was totally overwhelmed by sadness and self pity. Fortunately, I was able to secure a foothold before reaching rock bottom, and the weak little voice telling me I am NOT pitiful became stronger and stronger. Thank you to Peps, BB, Shirl and Ceci for your powers of observation and then reaching out with compassion and reassurance. I will forever be a work in progress and I am looking forward to looking forward.

I am so glad to see a post from you. We are all a work in progress. Please keep getting stronger!

We are leaving Virginia Beach in a couple of hours. Yesterday was an indoor day mostly as a fierce north wind came around 10 or so and then the rain off and on all day. But we had a wonderful dinner out at a little restaurant I had been to previously on the porch of a little house right in the middle of the city.

Today we move on to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Hopefully we will see some wild horses this afternoon!

Oh and in other good news, SIL will become a grandmother on 10/28 (if not before). She is busy knitting a pumpkin hat. She also had her 9 week checkup with the oncologist and no change, so 3 more months without treatment needed (the last treatment was in June 2019).

Stay safe, healthy and social!

Damn those damned rabbit holes! I think Liz is right--we're all a work in progress.

A Chicago friend and her two dogs are arriving this evening for a 4-5 day visit. That means (1) I won't be posting much and (2) I'm about to get lots and lots of doggie hugs! :)

I have spent a lot of time in those rabbit holes, sometimes forgetting where the entrance was so I could get myself out! So glad you found your way! Your voice was missed here.

Up early today in anticipation of the Google Fiber internet installers coming. I can't wait to be rid of Cox cable for good, not to mention halving my monthly bill. The access panel is in my closet which is in my bathroom, which is through my bedroom, so all had to be tidy. Thankfully, the cleaning people were just here and even I didn't have enough time to make a mess!

The scale was down the .2 today that it was up yesterday. So even over the last 3 days.

So not much of a day planned other than waiting on work people. Hope you all have more interesting things on tap!

So glad to see you post Diane! I think the COVID landscape we're all navigating is filled with those rabbit holes. I am trying not to borrow trouble, but when my mind skips ahead to winter, I feel myself tumbling... One day at a time... thank heavens for our tribe.

Yesterday we had an early dinner at what is becoming my favorite restaurant here in Door County. Their patio overlooks the lake, their staff is so congenial, and the food is awesome. Just as we got in the car, the skies let loose with a rain/snow shower. We got lucky again! Spent the evening tucked in, eating leftovers and reading.I read The Vanishing Half in one sitting, highly recommend it. Today is overcast and drizzly. We'll probably poke around in some shops, and if it dries up, some wineries.

Just read an oddly calming quotation from Greek philosopher Heraclitus:

"Nothing ever is. Everything is becoming."

Hello All

A quick weekend pop in as I sit and sip my cup of tea and label the christmas gifts I have wrapped. I am very proud to say I am officially finished - YAY - just waiting on the balance of the online orders to arrive and be wrapped.

Been a good weekend - My youngest DS visited Saturday morning which was lovely. We did stuff around the city house. DH out in the veggie patch building more beds and I was potting up excess seedlings to give away. Planting more seeds and taking cuttings of plants to try and strike. Washed my Mini and cleaned it inside. We had a nice platter for dinner

Today my Mini got picked up by the mechanic to be serviced. He just returned it. I have also washed DH car as it was super grubby. Done some tidying and Im just pottering inside for a bit till DH has the garden beds ready to plant out with more seedlings - then will go help. We went over to my mums today and got my MG car going - took it for a spin - I realised I havent driven it for over 2 years Yikes ! The plan is to move it over to our city house so we can take it out more.

Our restrictions have eased a little today. From tommorrow we are allowed to travel 25 kms from home - currently 5. Hairdressers are opening up - yes I already have an apt for mum and I at ours tommorrow at 4pm. I cant wait...... no more russian roulette with the store bought hair colours. We only had 1 new case yesterday and 2 today. They are allowing people with Properties to go up next weekend (long weekend) in order to do fire preparation with a permit. DH and I will apply as thats what we do every visit. Mow and maintain good fire break around the sheds etc. He moves up at the beginning of November with the dogs and the chooks - I will go up each weekend. I need to stay down here to care for my mum and also our veggie patch. Will be a bit weird after spending every waking hour together but not a bad thing

Diane O - I am so pleased to hear from you x You have been on my mind so much. Those darn rabbit holes - I can relate and can only say we are all here for you xxx

Liz - looks like you are having a wonderful trip down to Florida. I love seeing the pictures and reading about your adventures

BB- Loved the picture of your gorgeous good witch :) She would melt any heart and looks soooooo grown up !

Ann - Lovely to hear from you and enjoy your friends visit and all the puppy cuddles

DD - Im also loving all your pictures of your visit to Door Country - its going on my wish list for one day when we can hopefully travel again

Cec - You are doing so well with the continued downwards journey :) You inspire me

Peps - Great news about the dog show :) I cant wait to see pictures of all the winning sashes x

Diane S, Miss, Leap, Paula - your voices are missed

Well I had best get back to my labelling of gifts before DH needs me outside to play in the dirt

Love to you all
