Weight 122. Still holding. I can't believe it is almost officially Fall here! Mike and I are planning to leave for Florida 3 weeks from Monday (and DS has decided he is ok with that finally).

Today Mike and I are meeting some friends of his to walk along the Cape Cod Canal with our dogs. So Justice will meet a friend (I hope he is nice to the other dog -usually he is). It will be 60 and windy so a typical fall day really.

A friend asked me the other day if Mike and I are living together and I said No, of course not. But then it occurred to me that if I stay at his Florida place for a while after driving down and then he stays at mine (the current plan), then it might feel like we are? Certainly we will test out our relationship!

OH! DS has a really good job offer at a great restaurant in Provincetown and it sounds like he will take it. I hope so - he needs to be working for a lot of reasons. He has enjoyed his freedom, but obviously that couldn't be unlimited.

Nothing much else going on except I can't get my handyman to return my calls. I need a couple of things done before I go south.

Have a safe, healthy and social day!

My weight has been surprisingly right where I'd hope! 154.8! Victory!

Yesterday DH's ("new") job had layoffs. This is getting ridiculous. His old job just had the 3rd layoff since he'd been caught up. New job this was the 3rd layoff in about a year. 15% of the company. I do have to praise them in keeping it under their caps until the evening before. They were told to stay home and they'd be notified by phone. What crap. But it is what it is.

And DH "survived." I feel very grateful. But I also feel very humble. At this point it is in no way a reflection of ability. It's a numbers game. Oil companies are trying to survive another few weeks. DH has been in this industry for nearly 25 years. It's too late to jump ship just because we don't like the waves. But man oh man am I sea sick of it!!!!!

Waiting and worrying is for the birds. I much preferred the sneak attack.

Anyway, our kitchen is finished!! I have trouble with change, even good change. But I'm really liking it! I'll post pictures on FB. Being at my parents house took a toll. It's just very hard to watch the girls in not their own environment. And things like laundry built up...and with two little ones it's hard to get much done as it is without adding. I can tell you that now every dish in my kitchen has been washed, and it's all as organized as it'll ever be! And yesterday I finally got caught up on the girls laundry. Today is ours. Whew.

Next thing is to begin decorating for fall and Halloween. I'm very disappointed we won't be having our huge annual Halloween party. It felt one part irresponsible, and another part like a lot of work for people to not come or feel awkward, etc. We might do some thing (or things) in its place. I dunno. Maybe a dinner party or murder mystery type thing. Or something away from the house...although some of the fun of the party is hosting people with our decorations and food, etc. We'll see.

It must be hard not to stress - to have ones career path/choices depend on such fickle-ness as this pandemic. Seems like a persons work ethic, skill, experience, and effort should determine one's livelihood. Totally a crapshoot.

On the other hand- home at last AND a perfectly clean and new kitchen! Enjoy!

I am glad DH survived the layoffs and that the kitchen. Can't wait to see pictures!

The deck is done with only one casualty- our power washer gave it's all and then promptly bit the bullet. Two days to thoroughly dry and will seal on Monday. If I were Shirl, I would jump right into a new task, but not being a superhumanbeing, I will be content to (maybe) pick up the now overflowing darning and mending basket.

I have been playing with some water soluble pastels and currently am beating a picture to death trying to get the hang of them- ah, well- just call it "Collateral Damage Due to Therapy"

Enjoyed a pleasant fall evening, sitting in our Adirondack chairs, chatting, sipping a ****tail, and watching the sunset.

Today just some putzing around. Daughter is going apple picking with some friends. I love it when she has something that resembles life from the before times. She continues to reassure me that, if she has to work from home, and Boston is still locked down, of course she would rather work here. A couple of times, she's discussed going back to Boston for a few weeks, but she's super reluctant to fly, and might have to quarantine when she arrived anyhow.

In October, there is a 4 day weekend, statewide, from school. In the before times, we were going to go to Mexico City to celebrate BFFs 60th birthday. That is , of course, cancelled. I would still like to get away. Thinking about it, but where we could road trip to doesn't look too good, numbers on the rise in most of the states around us.

But for now, it's a nice fall day, and I feel pretty good today!

Liz, I hope things work out for your son and his job offer.

If you do go to Florida, are you planning to stay the whole season? Will your sil be able to join you at some point, or is she staying close, waiting for the new grandbaby?

I will probably stay the whole season. SIL won't be down this fall with the new baby coming but I think she may come at least for a while after Christmas. I suspect what happens with Mike and I may affect her choices. I just don't know how much Mike and I will want to be together and where. If we kind of like living together we might spend more time at his place and she can be at our place perhaps with our other SIL.

Scale holding steady. I walked with my friend this morning, but it was hot, the air still, and the sun really strong and she started to not feel good, so we cut it short. For the millionth time, I hate September in CA! 96 yesterday. 90 today. Fall in Southern California is not a nice season. Hot temps, dry winds, fire, everything is brown/crispy/burnt (no fall color), then it's winter.

More cleaning today. That's all I've got!
