Greetings All

Happy Birthday to me! I am celebrating by doing as little as possible. Zoom meeting canceled. Yay. I guess I missed a lively one last night where people were criticizing our treasurer (not me) who is really annoyed and I don't blame her.

Cecily I have heard San Angelo Texas is a nice place. But I am with you on heat and humidity. Lake of the Ozarks is beautiful too but might be full of weird people.

Liz good on you for staying in touch with your support group friends. And we love hearing the adventures of Mike and Liz.

My mission today is deciding which of the 4 or 5 restaurants in our small town to order take out from. Not too demanding.

Yesterday was banking and other errands. The sky is now blue but I smell smoke. Fire has not jumped the river into our county and even if it did its quite a ways away. Still I don't know how this is ever going to get controlled without a lot of rain. That will happen up here but So Cal I don't know. Its hot for here. 70 degrees.

DH has yet another new toy which is an automatic opener/closer for the slider. Seems the dogs are in and out, in and out all evening long. We will see if it works. I predict an evening of cursing before it begins to work.

DD hang in there. We are thinking of you.

DianeS

Good Morning All,

No weight today - was DH birthday yesterday and I did my best even with ISO to make it special for him. Brekkie was homemade Scotch Eggs, Lunch Smoked Salmon and Triple Brie Quiche, Afternoon Tea and Supper Homemade Vanilla Slice (His Birthday Cake)and takeaway Burmese food for dinner. He had a great day and we did a 5km walk after we finished work.

Sorry for my absence, I was trying to get my head around having to do a second 6 week stint of Stage 4 lockdown. It hit very hard mentally and I really didnt want to come on and be a Debbie Downer.... Our Statewide daily cases are now sitting in the mid 40's - the deaths are still in the teens, this is mainly due to the amount of infections in the aged care system. We are now allowed to exercise for 2 hours a day and have had our curfew extended till 9pm. The thing that I miss the most is seeing our kids and grandbabies - it just hurts so much it feels like you have an elephant sitting on you at times. We do video calls as much as we can with the Grandbabies but they are busy and not super keen on being popped in front of a video call. It was lovely to see them all last night when they called for DH birthday. Ashton was running around the house showing us the new baby bunnies and Elliot was eating a carrot - he got another tooth last week - so thats 3 now. He is walking too.

Regional Victoria is coming out of their lockdown today due to very low cases so that will be wonderful for the business owners up there. There is now talk of a "ring of steel" around Melbourne increasing to stop people travelling to their holiday homes etc. DH and I are concerned that we will not be able to go up the farm and care for our cows. They are due to start calving in November. Just have to see what happens but I have to go. I normally move up there and live during calving so that I can call for assistance if any of them get into trouble.

I know I will have missed a lot of your news and stories and will try and go back and read but Im happy to see you all still posting. Thank you also for checking in on me as I struggled. It truely meant the world. Being in lockdown leaves you feeling just so dreadful, alone in some ways and in limbo. 12 weeks is a long time especially when its only a couple of months after the first lockdown - you start to struggle to see the light at the end of the tunnel and wonder if you will ever have a shred of what we considered normal again.....We have 5 weeks of this one to go. Just trying to take it a day at a time.

Love to you all and I promise to try and be more present

So glad you're back! I don't think we in the US can really understand the level of restriction you've had there. That would put anyone's mood down in the dumps.

Lovely to hear from you! Though your lockdowns are tough I think Australia is doing the right thing and thus keeping the death toll down.
