Weight 122. Relieved that I haven blown myself out of my weight range...

So today is my half birthday. And why do we care? Because Mike is taking me overnight to a resort on the beach for it. Clearly just an excuse, but a super romantic one.

In the meantime, I had a good lunch with my support group friends yesterday. They are excited about my life which apparently helps them feel better? One husband has been moved because he wasn't managing at the initial long-term care place. He is on hospice and on the edge of not walking. But she has been doing things with the recent widower whose wife's wake I went to on Friday! Over the covid lockdown months when they couldn't see their spouses they started helping each other on projects and taking rides together. I was so happy to hear that! The other friend's husband was just released from several days at the hospital this morning because he can barely walk. He has exactly the same diagnosis as DH did and seems to be on that super fast downward slide.

Before Mike picks me up, I am going to lunch with my Falmouth friends, including SIL and DSD. Busy day!!!

Have a safe, healthy and social day!

By golly, I just cannot seem to string significant days together. **** Back to where I started from-

I do believe Kansas can just about officially call it the end of summer and beginning of fall. Best time of year! When the humidity drops and the nights cool to open windows, it's just the best. No plans except reforming intentional/informed/ and moderate eating. I am so very weary of "starting over".

Scale bounce up today. I think some of my success yesterday might have been dehydration. Booo.

Ferg came down with an ear infection. It doesn't look like a bad one visually, but he now can't hear anything. I'm putting the drops in, but you can stand over him and yell his name and he doesn't wake up. Add that to his limited sight, if I touch him to wake him (like this morning, I needed to give him his heart pills), he can't see me right away and seems really scared.

Any advice on how to safely wake a deaf, more than half blind dog? Poor Ferg! The hits just keep on coming.

Nothing on the schedule for today. Dare I risk saying the air looks clearer and the sky is actually blue for the first time in weeks? Perhaps a walk to celebrate.

Peps gave me some great ideas for moving on yesterday's thread (which I just noticed was titled 9/12, but does it really matter post-Covid?). I wrote up some thoughts there. Still open to ideas to research!

I know you said you are no great fan of Texas, but the hill country around San Antonio has some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. Look around, say, New Braunfels (NE of) or Lost Maples (W of). When I taught in Laredo, those were places we would escape to. I do not remember misquotes being there. There certainly were none in Laredo.

The company I worked for had a huge office in San Antonio Hill Country, so I used to visit a lot (my boss lived in New Braunfels, also pretty!). The heat/humidity might throw it out of the running, but worth considering!

That's what Michigan is for :) My BIL lives in Greune Texas, right by New Braunfels. Lovely area, but I've only visited in the spring and fall.

Poor Ferg! All my dogs have gone deaf in their last year or so. I had to try to shake their bed or stamp the floor gently before touching them when they were sleeping or they would levitate.

I usually call to him in a higher voice. I've also tried a whistle and he didn't hear that. I tried lower today (which was always my "I mean it, stop what you're doing" voice) and he heard that. I'll try the stamping next. He doesn't like to sleep on a bed...

He has a vet appointment today as I noticed his ear medicine was out of date and they wouldn't refill it without seeing him.
