9/11 a day I generally spend - and did- quietly and thinking about about things. Today reading Thomas a' Kempis- there has to be a better way.

Did get Swanny to the vet. Healthy, happy dog and will hopefully will be another year before needing to go again. Some discussion about whether or if to alter him. As it stands, thinking if there are no compelling issues will just leave him intact. Thoughts or opinions?

Devon will have to weigh-in on Swann! I had no choice with Justice when adopting him from a shelter. He seems pretty happy!

There is no known medical benefit to sexually sterilizing male dogs. It was once thought that neutering lessened or eliminated the risk of prostate cancer. Not so. Long term studies showed that the rates of prostate cancer in intact and sterilized males was similar. The only physical change is that sterilization will gradually lessen a dog's sexual drive. If he is unfamiliar with a ***** in heat prior to sterilization, he will be less inclined to be driven to a frenzy when encountering a ***** in season. IF he is a male that has been bred, it will only lessen the intensity of the drive to breed.

Sterilizing a male will not make him less aggressive or dominant. It will not make him stop marking. It does not stop wanderlust. It will make him unable to reproduce and he will never get testicular cancer. End of story.

Devon, Thanks so much. We were leaning leaving Swann intact and your information seems to put a period to the discussion. Swanny sends you an enthusiastic high paws up!
