Weight bounced up a little. It's fine.

No plans today, which is also fine. I cleaned out a kitchen cupboard yesterday. I may do another day. How fascinating right?

We only got to 78 yesterday. 31 degrees cooler than Sunday. A lot of plants are burnt. All of our parkway trees are dropping burnt leaves. I think the smoke is keeping the sun out somewhat keeping it cooler and giving everything an orange glow. It gets windy today. Let hope for no arsonists or gender reveals!

I am attaching a photo in counterbalance of Liz's gorgeous photo of Martha's Vineyard. This is "sunny CA" on this fine September morning.

It is literally dark outside. Streetlights are on. The automatic outdoor security lights at school are all on. Frankly, the photo doesn't begin to capture the creepiness of the light. The smoke is super high in the atmosphere, so at least it doesn't stink, but it is snowing a**** is Arma-******g-geddon! I thought to myself.... this is what the dinosaurs must have felt like when the clouds of smoke and dust covered the earth.... It's just creepy!

Great workout yesterday - even in the heat of the garage. Yes, I'm insane. I went to work out in 92 degrees in a hot garage. We had lots of fans going and I was pretty darn energized, so my lifting was good yesterday.

Weight is hanging out in the 266s still. I am feeling hungry today, but I'm not 100% sure why. I even had a ham and cheese breakfast sandwich from Peet's this morning. (1/2 a sandwich, about 350 cals...).

Have to log on to a staff meeting, so maybe more later..... Hugs to all.....

You have us beat for smoke! My car that lives in the driveway is covered in ash though. Here we are at 10:40am.

Greetings All

Hello from orange sky california. Whats that song "when the sky turns a bright canary yellow----" Well it was orange this morning and yellow now at 1:30 am. Like with Peps, its darkish. Yesterday I could not smell smoke but I can detect it today with my eyes. The fires are not near us - at least 50 miles inland - but the wind has been coming from the east and blowing smoke here. The sun was this little orange dot yesterday - looked like Mars. We had a tree man coming to give an estimate at 9:30 and it was hard to see the tree. Totally need lights indoors to read. Weird.

Martha's vineyard looks like totally the place to be. Beautiful and not smokey.

Proper eating seems like a lost cause. Too much prepared stuff. But at least I have lots of canned tomatoes. Must think of what to make.

The snow peas still are swarming. Others are eager to take them.

Time for more coffee. Hoping for pool time today. Diane S

Quite a contrast between east coast and west coast pictures!

I worked until 9pm last night, wrapped up a paperwork project that actually serves the interests of students. I then emailed my direct supervisor and my principal and told them I could no longer work intermittently, and that I would be taking 8 hours of leave each day until the end of my leave.

It was a good call, because I got up, showered, had a cup of tea and some Saltines, then threw up 3 times as I was leaving the house. Once in the kitchen sink (!) and twice in the yard. Did a great job aiming away from the flower bed. This is not my first rodeo with sudden morning vomiting. Huge flashback to pregnancies. Anyhow, did my radiation, back in bed, holding down a piece of toast and will try chicken noodle soup in a bit. Surprisingly feeling better emotionally. I guess I had to have a rather dramatic message so I could let go of my pride as the person who gets things done. I will be better now.

Perfect weather for staying in bed, cold, 25 degrees below normal, drizzle.. Would probably be welcomed in California.

Oh Diane, I'm sorry you're feeling so yucky and that you're needing radiation in the first place. Giant hugs...

I am super proud of you for deciding to take a true leave. You do need that time to NOT focus on kids, but on yourself.

Sorry you are feeling so lousy. I hate stomach turning nausea and vomiting, so you have my complete sympathy.

Brave move, and good on you. It takes courage to let go (even if temporary) of doing/being things (good and excellent teacher) that so define us. You Still are "the person who gets things done. What you are getting done right now is administering self care needed in order to be well. You are worthy of your efforts!
