Weight 122. More socializing continuing through Labor Day weekend, then we are on Martha's Vineyard for two days. I am worried about what all this will do to my weight.

I have been seeing Mike for exactly one month today. It seems to be a good sign that I still love being with him as I was ready to jettison David at 3 weeks and never really felt comfortable with him. Yesterday I met Mike's friends - very nice people! I am meeting him at his house to go hiking this morning and to his beach this afternoon. DS is having people over for dinner upon my return.

Interesting thing... Conor met Mike briefly yesterday and seemed okay with it but still wants to avoid him. DS knew I watched the first Harry Potter movie with Mike. DS asked if I wanted to watch the second one with him. Jealousy maybe?

Keep getting out and about to clear your heads and exercise. That and figuring out how to socialize seems to be the way to survive this pandemic. I sure hope there really are some vaccines coming out in the next few months.

Have a safe and healthy day!

Martha's vineyard sounds awesome! I remember the early days with DH. I was 22, young, but I had already extricated myself from a very unhealthy relationship, one where I was very much in love, one where I knew I was also very loved but but the whole thing was dysfunctional and I had to get out. So I did. I met DH and it didn't take long for me to know I could trust him. I felt like the things I would continue to learn about him would be fine things to know. I felt like, and I still do, that he was the safe harbor, that I was home when we were together. I still like to tell him in this world, he is my safe harbor and my greatest adventure. I feel like you and Mike have that sense of trust in each, you don't know exactly where you're headed, but you like going there together, and you can trust each other to be the person you want to be with.

The lorazepam did the trick, and I slept well, waking up naturally. There is no school today, just radiation.

Tonight we're trying a new activity. Our Minneapolis newspaper is hosting a drive in movie in a large park called the river flats by the Mississippi. It was $15 a car. There will be a DJ, food trucks, and then the movie, A League of their Own. You can get out of your car to use the porta potties and buy food, otherwise you need to remain in or on your car. Seems like it could be fun.

They are doing that in my town. It's $50 per car! For Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Considering I'd need to go by myself, that's a no for me.

$50 does seem excessive, even with 2 patrons. The music venue we've gone to a couple of times brings in people who are serious about listening to music, so single people are often there. Back in the indoor days, someone could sit in the bar, have dinner or a drink and listen to the jazz trio etc. They've tried to recreate that option by having single top tables also at the outdoor venue, so if you're up for listening to some big band, but don't want to sit at a table with someone else, because your social distancing you can still buy a ticket for the band. I appreciate that people have options.

They are doing a drive in right next to my neighborhood: $40 a car

I am so glad you slept. Critical for body and mind!

And yes, I feel safe with Mike with some sparks thrown in. Kind of neat!

Weight the same as yesterday on 1600 calories and 9000 steps. This is going to take a while.

Let the warm up begin. They are expecting all time high temps this weekend here. It's also supposed to be windy and dry. A recipe for fires. Let's hope the arsonists and stupid people stay home. Ah, September in Southern California. My least favorite weather month!

I need to do some cleaning today. Boring but necessary...

I had enough energy to clean the bathroom. As you say, boring, but feels good when it's done. I put a little vase of flowers on the counter, looks fresh.

As I expected, my weight bounced right back up this morning. Went up a little more than I had hoped, but eh.... it's my lot - day meeting with the nutritionist my weight seems to always be up. LOL! It's probably because I work out on Thursdays with my trainer and am sore and retaining a healing amount of water.

The morning was Zoom and computer work prepping for next week. I was unable to get my work done before school ended today, so it looks like I will be planning and prepping throughout the weekend. My plan is to have Monday be the school free day, since it is a school holiday. Yeah, good luck with that! LOL!

My stress level seems to be up today. Could be school related. I am feeling pressure on that front. Pressure from admin, pressure from parents, pressure from my grade level partner. At least the kiddos are easy going. Even my few challenging kids are in the rhythm of school, so that at least makes the teaching time easier. Oh, but the planning and the prep! YIKES!!!!!

Perhaps I will relax for a while and clear my head. Perhaps some time spent with the Calm app I recently downloaded is what I need today. Self care is taking many forms these days. Still longing for a massage and a pedicure, though.

Some of us are talking about the good enough school year. Next year can be the brilliant school year again. There are a lot worse things than good enough. Glad to hear you are using some self care.
