Yes, I also miss the voices of David, Ann, BB, Paula, Miss 150, Ceci... and Shel on a daily basis. Shel is the only one with a irrefutable reason. I think the year anniversary of her passing hit me harder than I anticipated, along with the enormous impact of Covid. I am letting dysfunction around me, at home and in the world at large, overwhelm me too often. When I was posting here daily it really helped keep me grounded. I vehemently disagree when one of you feels that you have nothing worthwhile to say, so that can't be an excuse for me ! I value and need my tribe !!

Devon, I LOVE LOVE your classroom updates !! I find myself wishing I could tune in and watch you teach, to perk up and feel connected. DD, so glad you got to paddle and that you balanced the experience with rest and rejuvenation time. Returning to the classroom after radiation is so wise. Shirl, even on my crazy active days, you've got me beat !! Your knee required you to pace yourself a bit, but not any more. I know seeing those babies recharged your batteries ! Diane, you consistently put a smile on my face with your life stories ! You manage aging with such grace ! Liz, we are all eagerly anticipating an update starting with W O W !

I miss them too! I was looking at some of Shel's pictures the other day.

Mike and I are having a wonderful time together but iconic Inn should be described as old and needs updating Inn. It is clean and more or less comfortable but so outdated!!! We meet the daughter and grandchildren around noon and in the meantime will have breakfast and walk around.

More later or tomorrow- we are off to breakfast.

I hear you on the disfunction all around us. One of my mantras this month, I am learning again, there is much I cannot control. Thank goodness there is sun, and flowers, and bodies of water, and friends, and prayer, and the occasional perfectly ripe peach to ease the chaos.

This morning I had a CT scan to measure my breast to get coordinates for the actual radiation. Lots of stickers all over. I maintain again, my breasts have not been handled this much since my 20s!

Also, they asked me not to lose weight during the treatment, because it can throw off the breast measurements. Well I am very skilled at not losing weight, so they'll probably be impressed.

I was thinking of Shel this week also. What light she brought to the world. Still stand in complete awe and amazement that, not only did she summit Mt. St. Helen, but she did while her lungs were already compromised.

Well, off to mow the lawn and then some reading on the porch.

Fun fact: At 95 and a dewpoint of 72, our heat index is 104, which is more tropical than Miami is today! I hate heat and humidity. We're headed for 99 today. I might move in with Diane S...

This AM I hauled my carcass out of the house at 6:45 to meet my friend to walk before it got too hot. It wasn't long or fast, but it was lovely to spend time with her. Otherwise, I've been binge watching Lark Rise to Candleford and knitting up a scrap project of knit paper chains. I figure it would cheer up my family room to string them over the fireplace. I have a lot more to do, but here's the in progress:

Pointless, but entertaining.

Anywho, nothing else happening here. Sorry to be so dull!

Thanks, Shirley!

PS, it's now 103 with a "feels like" temp of 110. And still rising. Sweat.

Good Morning All,

Another cool winters morning here - still weird to be reading about heat and humidity.... I cant wait for Spring and Summer

Just finished setting up my new work monitor and boy I knew my old one was bad but had no idea how bad till I plugged this baby in.Everything is so sharp

After work yesterday I went and did a care visit to the autistic guy we look out for. Hes struggling lots with the lockdown as I expected and was refusing to return texts from either my best friend or I. I told him that wasnt fair to have us sitting there worrying about him and he finally replied saying he doesnt want to see anyone until this lockdown is over. Thats over 3 weeks away and I wasnt going to allow that - so I used the offer of some of my cooking as a lure to "pop" over. He agreed. So I dropped 5 homecooked frozen meals to him and we chatted on the doorstep for around 10 mins. I will likely do the same in a week or fortnight - just so he has some human interaction. Its hard on him to process the loss of freedom and hes not coping well. I told him I will text him next week and I expect a response :) My gf and I joke Im the bad cop - shes the good cop but whatever works. Told him we care about him and he can call us for anything - we will always help.

Then on to do my mums weekly grocery shop and take it around to her with her medications. I picked up a piece of Roast Pork - her favourite so she was very excited. She will make it into meals and freeze them. DH had made her homemade apple sauce last week so shes all set.

Dinner last night was slow cooked brisket - Oh my go**** was delicious! I shredded it and then thickened the sauce - added some Sweet Baby Rays Hickory and Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce - served with mash, steamed silverbeet and snowpeas (from our garden) and carrots. Yum ! Made 3 extra meals for the freezer - one will go over to mum. We will have leftover beef tonight in fresh bread roll with slaw then I have the rest of the week planned to use dinners out of the freezer as I have offically run out of room and cant cook anymore ha ha ha. We dropped around 10 meals to my friend near our farm who is working huge hours at the moment and often will have eggs on toast - She said it was like christmas as she doesnt love cooking. Making food makes me happy and allows me to care for those I care about :) Its the small things....

Nothing really planned for today - if its not raining I will likely help DH wheelbarrow soil from the front where it was delivered to the backyard and spread - we are supposed to have pretty horrendous weather till early next week so we will see what happens. Im not working in the rain unless absolutely necessary. Will find things to do inside no doubt. So there is my rabbit on for today. Life in lockdown - same S%*%*% different day ha ha ha

Diane O - YAY you are back. Miss your voice and all its wisdom. Shel has been in my thoughts a lot this month too. I was wondering how Reed was doing. So hard on her. We are so blessed to have had our Shel and shes got a piece of our hearts

Liz - cant wait for an update on your mini trip away

Cec - You are doing a great job keeping busy :) Well done on the early walk as I know you dont "DO" mornings - Send some heat over here please - Im freezing

DD - What date does your radiation start again? Sounds like they are getting everything well organised. Thinking of you and sending you a huge virtual hug

Peps - Hope Day 2 in the classroom is going well and the power mum has to be frank "buggared off" to annoy someone else (Aussie slang)

Diane S - Keep enjoying that pool. I too love reading your posts

Miss, Leap, Ann and BB - You are all missed dearly

Well I had best go and get some work done. Its sitting there waiting

Love to you all

S

Isnt it the best - we buy it from Costco so get a big one

Only bummer is that we cant go to Costco till lockdown is over as we are only allowed to travel 5kms from home for groceries.... Will do a big shop once this is over
