Weight 123.2. Above my preferred range Gee, I wonder if that's because I went out two days in a row and ate and drank wine with abandon... Time to tighten down!

I can't believe the summer is half over. I always hate that but at least in the last few years was able to look forward to Florida once the weather got cool. But who knows this year? And I dread when we can't go to the beach during the day and eat outside at restaurants. The world will seem a lot smaller again once the summer is over.

But in the meantime, I think I will take Justice for a long beachfront walk and maybe kayak today. Leftovers, no wine, no cheese and no cupcakes tonight!

Stay safe and healthy and hopefully not too bored!

So SIL's party was a success :)

I too am nervous about what cold weather will bring. DD and I have already started making a list of Netflix etc shows to save for the winter because there won't be new ones being released, or at least fewer of them. We've decided on Christmas lights everywhere in the house starting in November. DH and I used to cross country ski. Our equipment is antiquated. We're thinking of upgrading some of it, and renewing this hobby. I'm glad I will be working in some capacity to give the days a framework...

One of my birthday presents just arrived. It's a life jacket like the ones they demo on the plane, self inflating. I love it. It will feel so much more comfortable when I'm kayaking. If I do capsize, and it inflates, it's not ruined. There is a CO2 cartridge that can be replaced. Ever wonder how it inflates automatically in water? There is a seal on the CO2 cartridge that dissolves in water, as soon as it dissolves the vest inflates.

DH gets home around 1pm today. We are going to have a brunch on the deck, featuring WW style treats. Again, the weather is perfect.

I bought the same life jacket design for kayaking this year too. The older ones made me feel hot and constrained so I figured I would kayak more if I was more comfortable. I decided to not get self-inflating though as I don't go kayaking in risky situations and I read an article about people falling when getting in or out of the kayaks at the shore and having the life jacket inflate (LOL).

Lovely summer day here.

My trip to the dentist yesterday was an informative one. I went hoping there would be some options other than the one suggested my last visit, but no- or rather, the dentist proposed a revision that is even more expensive than the first! Phooey! I have a scheduled cleaning/checkup the 14th so a few weeks to mull it over. Currently just totally disappointed in my teeth- we are not on speaking terms with each other at this present moment.

The farmers around here are mowing waterways and cutting/baling hay, and trimming around cornfields. No end to the dog walking adventures. We took Swann out with a new lead- he has a total of 185 feet of freedom. I'm getting pretty good at manipulating the lead- there is a lot of dropping and picking up to allow the line to drag smoothly along the ground. Swann's recall is pretty good unless something furry makes an appearance-and he would be lost in a nanny-second. Have I mentioned the raccoon from hell story? Never so glad to have the lead in my life.

DS#1 is over for continuing birthday celebration with DH. Lazy day watching hockey. Will be installing some flood lights later to make it easier to see the dog when he goes out in his yard at night.

I thank all who assumed my "food falling off the wagon" was a one (day) and done deal---Full disclosure--was more like a whole week- Roman banquet type of fest. Doing better now.

So darling! I don't believe we heard the raccoon story?

Ya, so raccoons are nocturnal and very rarely seen during the day...weird and can be a sign of Illness or madness. We were walking a narrow trail (maybe 2 feet wide) sandwiched between underbrush/wood and corn rows- early morning, and all the sudden, Swann, who was about 10 feet ahead of me, pauses and then makes a perpendicular dive into the underbrush. Just as suddenly I am seeing this dog in the air making a perpendicular back jump with a wild ass open mouthed befanged raccoon making the same flying up in the air front jump into the path. Their noses were no more than an inch or two from touching. Crazy noises from both animals. The raccoon zips back into the brush and I'm pulling the lead on Swann like I'm trying to land a shark on a fishing pole---He is doing his best to go in after the coon-Swann is about 18#s- the raccoon had a few more on him.......

I think what happened was that the raccoon making its way to the cornfield for a little breakfast and Swann came by just as the coon was about to step across the narrow path. Don't need to mention we haven't been 'round that way since...

Picture is what I saw (in profile) nose to nose dancing with the dog. Scary

My very first Airedale dispatched a rather larger raccoon in our briar/wild blackberry patch. The dog was rather proud of himself. We knew when we heard the animal scream and then dead silence that one of the other was done. Moments later Stiefel came of out the brambles, muzzle covered in blood and very proud of himself.

It's what our terriers were bred to do. We can't hold it against them.
