Weight 122.4. Still hovering a bit higher than my comfort level, but I am not doing a consistent job of staying on plan. However I am in range...

Of course I am going out to dinner again tonight, but at least I cancelled my lunch date. Why you ask? I have gotten really good at researching people once I have enough facts from our txt discussions. Sometimes first name, age and job is enough to narrow it down so I can find them on the internet. If they or a family member has Facebook I can usually confirm that I have found the right person by comparing the pictures against those on the dating site. In reading up about "Robert", today's previously planned date, I realized that even if he was a really nice, interesting man I wasn't going to feel comfortable with him. I really want to be with someone with a similar background and current lifestyle. This guy claimed to have a college degree, but it is an associates degree and his job basically only requires a high school education. He owns a home but it is a dinky thing in an area I would never be comfortable being in. I wouldn't even park my car there.

So am I snobby, too selective? I think we can be more broad minded when young but at this point I am starting to realize that I don't have the time for that. I want someone relatively tall and not too heavy, well educated, own his own home and have resources not too different from mine, have family and friends he enjoys, not smoke and drin****asionally at most. I know I should be fine with no drinking and I would never want to be with a daily, heavy drinker, but I did enjoy splitting a bottle of wine with my husband and I'd like to be able to do that once or twice a week.

So this dating thing is an education about myself as much as anything.

Today is my WW Zoom meeting, possibly some beach time (high SPF again), then dinner out with SILs and DSD tonight. OH, and I need to get a birthday gift for SIL! Any ideas (it is her 70th)? I would need to get her something she wouldn't buy herself I think...

Have a safe and healthy day!

I wouldn't say too selective, since you know what characteristics, values you'd be compatible with. I can think of a lot things that would be non negotiables for me.

Does your sil like cut flowers? My daughter ordered a subscription for me, I will have a new bouquet delivered every week for the next 10 weeks. Or maybe there is something else she enjoys you could get a subscription for?

Another quiet day. Our district is deploying iPads to all staff and students this year. If staff wanted to get one early, before school starts, you could sign up for a distribution. I'm going to go pick mine up at 11am. I'll sit with one of the technology staff for about 20 minutes going over things, getting it set up. We'll wear masks, and they have 10 minutes in between people to sanitize. It feels safe enough for me, but I wouldn't want to be the person meeting with people all day.

Beautiful day here. The weather has really been a blessing.

Greetings Friends

Another day of life in the slow lane. Doubt I will ever be in the fast lane again but thats ok. Todays adventures were me inspecting one of the heather plants that DH dug around to see what is to be done. They get leggy and ratty looking on the interior with only the tips looking nice. There was all this weird material in there which I think is the beginning of the formation of peat. Anyway DH is bound and determined to save the plant so he may dig it up and replant it deeper as per the heather book. I would just toss it but whatever he wants to do. So like I said, life in the really slow lane.

Took the old dog for a short walk. He is barely eating and I think the dogs have sort of gone into covid hibernation like we have. We will see if that perks him up. May need a vet visit.

Liz, don't go out with anyone that doesn't appeal to you for whatever reason. Life is too short. And keep us posted. We love hearing your adventures (those of us whose biggest adventure involves an old heather plant).

BB glad you vented here on the diffuculty of being home with two little ones right now. Hard enough in ordinary times but now with no play dates or other things it must be really tough. I think our neighbor is doing some part time child care some days as I hear them out there playing. Its fun to listen to but not easy if you are in charge. Hope a good solution becomes available. My friend in Colorado has a live in au pair for her tow boys. She is a teacher and her husband is a commercial pilot.

Peps, any ideas for our picky eater old dog? He turned up his nose at the chicken and rice last night.

DD I think you should take leave during radiation if its at all possible. Time to put your needs first. Teacher at the pottery says teaching wearing a mask is exhausting.

Shirley good for you for cooking some dinners for the autistic neighbor. My SIL had an autistic man she was sort of a step mom to. He was good tempered and had a job driving a truck and was fixated on elevators. Taking him a dinner once in a while is such a great kindness.

Well I may waddle on over to the pool and to the natural foods store. DH and I have been eating frozen prepared stuff and its not healthy. I just have not felt like cooking but there is no excuse. How hard is it to pan grill some fish?

Take care all. And shout out to you lurkers!

Diane S

Not much happening here. Therapist (not all that interesting, I bore myself), a hunt for a still undiscovered mildewy smell somewhere in the house, and a headache. Zoom knitting group tonight.

Boring!!

Edit: found it. The dog's waterhog mat where his water bowl sits. He is the sloppiest drinker and some had gotten under the mat. Floor scrubbed and a new mat ordered...

Good Morning - TGIF although all the days blend into one at the moment. Still waiting for results but Im sure mine is a head cold. Whopper of a headache this morning and no energy - blech.....

No weight ...

I mowed the back lawn yesterday after work and tidied up some plants - potted a couple more after DH put up a wire fence to keep the dogs out. Darn things - unless I have fences up I am unable to have any garden - they tra**** Back yard looks ridiculous but anyway. DH made a huge silverside. We did lots of extra Veg and made up 12 meals. I did Chicken & Leek Pies with Filo Topping - 5 are ready to go into the freezer this morning. Productive evening. Will take some over to my mum once we are clear to leave the house. We are having Silverside again tonight - heat n eat - I picked some snow peas yesterday so will steam them to add to dinner. My big effort....

We had our highest day in cases yesterday - 723 and another 13 deaths. The aged care homes are in crisis and they have activated State Emergency teams and the Army. Lots of the hospitals are taking over the worst ones at government order. Those poor darlings - it breaks my heart. The whole state now has to wear masks when leaving the house from Sunday - including regional areas. And another huge area of the state was placed into lockdown at midnight last night. We are definately not coming out of lockdown anytime soon. Now contending with Anti Maskers protesting re their rights - It makes my blood boil. Why are people so incrediably selfish?

Not a lot planned for the weekend. Still dont feel great so likely just blob.

Love to you all and stay safe

S

There is a family I follow on Instagram, podcasts, etc called the GoldenRatio4 (they actually now have 6 goldens). Anyway, they are smart (she's a professor and scientist, he's a lawyer) and funny and love dogs. They also sell merchandise with their dogs on it. On one of their podcasts she was angrily calling out people *****fuse to wear masks and had what she said made into a mask and added to their store. I kind of want one...

Diane has got my number, for sure- been a true lurker of late. Much moss growing on this ol' stone that is me- cobwebs for brains and all that.

After a great solid week of wonderful, sober eating- this last week I fell of the wagon, as it were, and undid all the good work .....Will make no lasting improvement until consistent daily effort becomes a desired behavior.

Tomorrow the excitement will be found at the dentist's office- crown fell off and I'm afraid I will need a new one (26 yrs- more than made its warranty). The sticker shock is irritating- would much rather put the money into a project that glitters a bit.

tomorrow is also DH's birthday...plans are-well, plans are- well....

It's all good. Smiles to all!

I've had some spectacular falls off the wagon, but I don't think a week of food sobriety can be completely undone in one day. Congratulations to you for stringing together so many good choices, and congratulations to you for dusting yourself off after a detour and getting back to your plan.

The sticker shock for crowns is real. Our dentist has a racing boat he keeps up north on Lake Superior that uses actual jet fuel. We think he owes us a ride, since our numerous crowns no doubt help pay for that fuel.

I'm sure we have financed many an Ivy League university course for various healthcare providers' children over the years! What bites me (pun intended) is that if I'm going to spend this kind of $ (looking at 4K+) I want braces for it instead of dull maintenance work. **** for that matter, I'd rather spend the money on fencing the entire property for Swann.

As for the "one"day bender- let me qualify- more like a WEEK! Truly- a tit for tat trade (is there such a thing as a face palm emoji for that?
