Definitely been just kinda eating what I want. But I think some of it is monthly fluctuations.
Family is gone as of this morning. I feel bad for feeling stressed out "hosting" them when it was for such a horribly awful reason. But most of the time I feel like I'm juggling with the 2 girls and my tank is only just full enough to take care of them.
Let's start with gratitude. I am so thankful (the rest of) my family is healthy. I'm thankful we've only been impacted minimally by this virus. No job loss, no health problems. I am so very grateful.
But I'm really really beginning to have fatigue over this mess. So far schools are set to open with mask rules, and I am so happy my kids will be going to MDO. Okc just passed a mask ordinance but I'm still a little confused on the messaging. We're still being told it "doesn't protect you from others, but it protects others from you." I'm so stumped. Genuine question: does it only prevent germs from going out but cannot filter germs from coming in? That's the only way that statement makes sense to me.
My generation has not had to do without and it shows.
I keep waiting to see about the timeline for this vaccine? Would you guys get it? I ultimately would, but I'm not sure I'd get it when it first comes out. Rich says something about "I am Legend." But I don't understand that entirely since I only ever saw "Omega Man."
Speaking of older movies, we watched "Logan's Run" last night. I definitely find escape in older film.
We are supposed to be going to San Antonio in August. I think I read the cases there are bad, though.
Liz-that sounds like a good plan. Something I would probably do.
DD-fingers crossed on the covid test and on surgery

This illustrates the mask thing.
It's not going to filter out nearly everything like an N95 mask, but it's a heck of a lot better than no mask at all. It basically stops a large percentage of big drops from getting into the air. If everyone wears one, you have two layers of protection between the virus and you: the infected person's mask and yours.

Exactly. It does protect both to an extent, but it's better at limiting a person spraying wet, virus laden air by capturing the moisture it's riding on (why your face gets so "dewy" and your glasses fog wearing one) than it is at blocking virus that happens to make it out of someone's mask from passing through your fabric as you breathe in. You wouldn't want it as your only defense in a hospital Covid ward, but it's much better than nothing at all in a grocery store.
This had some good study info and some interesting real world examples of where masks helped: https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2020/06/417906/still-confused-abou t-masks-heres-science-behind-how-face-masks-prevent
Particularly: "Two compelling case reports also suggest that masks can prevent transmission in high-risk scenarios, said Chin-Hong and Rutherford. In one case, a man flew from China to Toronto and subsequently tested positive for COVID-19. He had a dry cough and wore a mask on the flight, and all 25 people closest to him on the flight tested negative for COVID-19. In another case, in late May, two hair stylists in Missouri had close contact with 140 clients while sick with COVID-19. Everyone wore a mask and none of the clients tested positive."
Good Afternoon all
Later today as we took the dogs for a long walk down to the hardware store. I sat outside with all 3 of them while DH went in for what we needed. It was freezing.
363 cases today an increase from yesterdays 217 in the state. It has brought more restrictions - from midnight Wednesday it is mandatory that you wear a mask when you leave your home. Makes sense as we need to halt this community transmission. It has been a recommendation up till now and around 50% of people have been wearing them. I truely think that stage 4 restrictions will be a disaster for peoples mental well being and our economy. Things get more grim by the day
Im going into a zoom catch up with my school friends in 20 minutes - we had postponed a lunch date twice and this is our only option - will be nice to see their faces for a little while
Not a lot else to report. I have done all my chores. Making a roast leg of Goat tonight - found a recipe that uses whiskey and anchovies - Im game ..... Will let you know what its like. Will do the full roast veggies etc and likely a lot of meals for the freezer. I was saying to DH over lunch that if we go stage 4 we could likely eat out of our freezers for many months. Thankful to have them well stocked.
Enjoy whats left of your Saturday :)
