So I've been thinking about my health/school opening dilemma. There is a federal act that mandates 10 days of pay if a doctor says you have to quarantine. I also have 44 days in my leave bank. If we are going back to school in person, I will use the Family Leave Act. With almost 11 weeks covered, that would get me 1 week shy of long term disability, if that were ordered by my oncologist. So come what may, I should be okay. I would hate to miss the beginning of the year, but since I will most likely be doing radiation the end of August, I don't see how I could protect myself enough during in person teaching.

If we start online, I could probably just get through the radiation by taking sick days as needed.

So feeling calmer.

Greetings Inner Children

So my inner child is piffling because I waited around most of the day to go pick up some stuff for the studio that somehow got bolixed up and it not ready. Whine whine. so I went to the bank and a health food store I don't visit often. Seems like I am at some store every other day. Why can't I run out of stuff at the same time.?

Cecily, are you still ordering the food boxes? Still like them? More and more are advertised and its tempting.

Liz that tofu recipe looks good. But what is salam oelek or whatever that weird ingredient was? Never heard of it.

Our old car has been in the shop for a week now. Its so old they have trouble getting parts and some they got didn't work. Or so they say. I kind of wonder if they are just blowing us off as we have told them we have another car and its not a big deal for us. I think this means we will be getting a new car fairly soon. But I told DH he has to get the garage cleaned out because I won't want a new car sitting outside. Parting with junk is a major issue. I vote storage unit.

DD what a lot of things you have to think about. Glad the scan had the desired results. My mother had a lumpectomy at about age 80 and never had a recurrence. Is there a support group that can give you some idea on what to expect in radiation? If I were you I would plan on taking medical leave if possible. Glad your DH is covid egative.

LOL Peps, Betsy duvos and preparation H. That will be in my mind forever. She is worse than a hemorrhoid. Reminds me of my childhood friend who would come to school giggling and say "Dad put the hemorrhoid creme on his toothbrush again". And the Goat looks great.

And DD you are so wise to state obesity has many causes. So true. I thought of VSG as downsizing my stomach to make it the correct size for me. But methinks genetics is also involved.

Cecily once those hummingbirds discover the feeder they will be there often. The hydrangeas I have were started from little twigs or leaves. Not by me - someone gave them to me as little 2 inch sprouts. Now they are five feet tall and thriving in spite of much abuse - cutting back so we could paint the deck.

Little Diane - I was called that as a child. Seemed odd because I thought of myself as Fat Little Diane.

I am so bummed because while we did what we were supposed to do during the past few months, some people didn't and we are starting all over. And at least around here its a fairly few who were not compliant but have messed us all up. Last I checked my old law firm had people working from home and special arrangements for services in the office. Glad I am out of there.

Well, little Diane wants some cheese. She shall have it.

I was also "little Diane". I was named after my Dad's only sister. She was all of 4ft 11 inches, so, at 5 ft 5 1/2 inches, little Diane towered over big Diane pretty fast. I loved her so much, and was, and still am, so proud to be her namesake.

Sambal Oelek is a chili paste. You'd know it if you saw it. It's the red chili paste they serve in Chinese restaurants. it's pretty damn awesome. I love it!
