The remaining composite decking has arrived, so we plan on finishing the decking during shadier times of the day. I am finding that going from a seated position to a standing position on my paddle board results in losing my balance and falling in more than 50% of the time. My core strength is poor, and I have to work on balance in a tight footprint. The good news is that a brief dip is refreshing and I am able to successfully get back on my paddleboard 100% of the time. NY's early failures in responding to Covid-19 seem to have enhanced our determination to protect our flattened curve, but irresponsible behavior IS on the upswing. Stay safe and cool, everyone !

I think that lots of people (especially young ones) have Covid exhaustion and want to act as if all is safe now when really we are just in a hiatus in our areas. And as I mentioned somewhere, I think having country leaders who act like it is no big deal doesn't help, though having local ones who do tempers it somewhat.
I have the kayaks but have never tried paddle boarding. I want to borrow the neighbors and see if I like it to determine if I want to purchase one. Sounds like they are good for exercise but maybe a little frustrating?
DSD in Florida is negative for COVID! So she is planning to pack up later today and leave for the north early tomorrow. She said it is technically a 17.5 hour drive (depending on traffic). I don't know if she is planning on driving straight through or stopping - she will let me know later today. I believe she will still need to quarantine for 14 days once she arrives here, but DS and I should be safe around her.
I wonder if that will complicate dating. I haven't mentioned it to her yet. David is definitely pursuing actively which I like but I want to be careful in all kinds of ways.
So SIL does have another form of cancer in her bladder. The doctor says he does not think it is high-grade so he should be able to remove it, then regularly follow-up for potential recurrences. So she will be having same-day surgery sometime in the next few weeks. This is the third form for her as she had uterine cancer around 2002/2003. None of them have been related but she apparently is prone to it. She was a DES exposed baby and smoked for 26 years so they think it could be either or both. At least this one is very treatable and it may not ever be an issue again.
Today is is MUGGY - we are getting showers later so I may take Justice for an oceanside walk early. He has only had neighborhood walks this week.
Stay safe and healthy!

Diane, you must have some pretty decent core strength to paddle board in the first place. At least that's what one of my paddle boarding friends told me. I asked him if I would like paddle boarding and he said, as long as you don't mind falling in because you will, and if you have some core strength.
Liz, it's good to hear your DSD had a negative test. DH took his yesterday. A few days wait, but we're optimistic he is negative. If your DSD has to stop for an overnight stay on the road, we were really reassured by the protocols our hotel had. I was more uneasy about public restrooms while on the road.
Going kayaking today, and then dinner on a patio in Minneapolis tonight. Tomorrow, hopefully the beach and swimming.
Still losing sloooowly with WW. I do use almost all my points everyday. My DH and DD are losing at least twice as fast as I am! I'm okay with it though, the loss is slow, but the pain is minimal. Fruit is delicious right now. We've eaten some delectable peaches, strawberries, cherries without guilt. And even small losses add up to something bigger over time.
Women who are a bit older of course have the slowest metabolism IMHO. I do best when I drop really low in points, but I always had 1-2 high days every week. I eat a LOT of zero point foods though.

My hair is colored. I think I did a good job this time! I'm due for a haircut, but while I don't like it down when it's longer (drags my face down), it does make ponytails in the heat easier. I also put on makeup today. I hardly recognize myself!
I've been doing a lot of online shopping. I think it's either boredom or pent up shopping energy. It's fun, but I probably ought to cool it a bit.
Not much else to report, sorry it's so boring!
I've been thinking, DianeO, about NY and MI early on versus now and the current hotspots. And it makes me wonder if like a wildfire, it's going to burn through an area regardless. It's already "consumed" a lot of NY and MI, so there isn't a much "fuel" left, hence the better numbers. CA and a lot of the west was very slow to start, but now we're burning. In the end, I wonder if the same amount of damage is done everywhere, just in different timing patterns.
Yeah - the online shopping. I have been very guilty. Do I really need more clothes and shoes? Nope! In fact just this morning I noticed a dress in my closet that I love and had forgotten about. Perhaps shopping in the closet is a better idea!!! I was telling SIL the other day that I saw a great sale and put a few things in my cart. I went out to dinner with David and he paid. So the next morning I somehow rationalized purchasing the items because normally I would have paid for my own meal so now I have extra. Really not valid rationale...

I've wondered if age and density plays a role in the wildfire like nature of some COVID flare ups. In Minnesota, we don't have a huge public transportation system. Minneapolis has density, but it's not a HUGE city. We trend as an older population, so we might be in more advanced stage of careers that lend better to work from home, and we may be more willing to stay home. Our biggest hot spots have been meat packing plants in the more rural part of the state, nursing homes, and college bars, 3 in particular spawned hundreds of positive tests. But so far, we have been on a slow, steady burn. It could definitely change, but not all of us hopping on subways, to go to our apartment buildings, from our essential worker jobs may be making a difference. Some things, like density, must make it really hard to control.
Wrote a post, but my comp failed me again. A-hole Apple! lol..... Not going to recreate.
long and short.... It is HOT, I weighed 267 lbs this morning, cleaned out book case and office yesterday - more to do in office. Didn't make my in the 266s goal for today, so I have to look at adjusting my food choices. Booooooo! (Damn, I boo'd out loud again!)
Afternoon All ? Popping in after a productive morning- went and collect 4 more 16 week old chooks- they are currently getting "hen pecked" by the older girls but that will settle in a day or so
Just back from 35 min walk with the dogs- second day in a row. 2.3 miles - averaging 16 minutes a mile. I plan on increasing each day as I learn to trust my new knee. The dogs are loving it.
Plan to set up our new "secondhand" bedroom setting. Have been waiting for DH to come home - then will hang the new industrial pipe shelves as well. Im excited to see it all finished.
Thats about all my news. It will be just staying at home & working around the house.
More later- I best start packing up our bedroom
Have a wonderful evening
S
Industrial pipe shelves sound like an interesting touch!
Congrats on the new chooks.
