Heat index nearing 100 the past few days and anticipated to continue. We've been going out on the water early, and have been in by 10:30 AM ish, trying to keep DC out of the sun 11-2, as he burns easily. I forgot to mention that we ordered a new refrigerator and gas range. In our two former homes, we've had the Samsung French door four drawer/door frig, with a drawer that opens between the bottom freezer and the top double doors. We always kep****er, yogurt, cheese ...grab and go things that we didn't need to open the whole refrig to retrieve there. I really missed that feature. The newest model has a command center that rivals NASA's Misson Control, in one of the doors...nope..not for me. I also missed my five burner gas stove, and dislike its glass cook top, so that's being replaced too. Gas and water lines were installed yesterday (by two different contractors), so we didn't get out on the lake. We're noticing an influx of Florida and Texas plates in our county, so we're pulling back on eating out.

Ceci, I love looking at pictures of your gardening progress. Good for you for calling in the big guns in the fall. Positive thoughts being sent for a swift resolution and desired outcome to your dad's surgery. DD, Covid in DH's office... not good. Your pre-planning to have the option to utilize FMLA days was sooo smart ! BB, loved your berry picking pictures ! Berry season came and went here, in the blink of an eye !Those girls radiate personality !! Liz, that pendant is a treasure ! PEPS, I couldn't stand up without using my hands if my life depended on it !! Take pride in your core strength !! I am working on a fluid and aesthetically pleasing ascension from sitting to standing on my paddle board. Miss 150, thanks for the photos and description of your pantry !! So much to love about it !

So glad to see your face this morning! So people are coming from other states to NY? I haven't noticed anything other than the usual plates here yet but we will see. Of course DSD will have Florida plates even though she will have been quarantined and Covid tested.

Good luck with the remaining appliance install. Always enjoyable once it is done.

David and I are going to a sushi restaurant tonight that I have wanted to go to for years. It is one of his favorites. Other than that I have a Zoom coffee with friends who are all over the country and Canada right now. Maybe I will fit a little beach time in...

Stinkin hot here too, and I LOVE it. We have a decent shady deck and backyard, but we gravitate to our rather small front porch on these sultry evenings. We have two cushy chairs, but now there are three of us. For now, we're keeping a folding lawn chair for the third person who arrives.

DH has an appointment tomorrow for his COVID test. It really isn't going to help him protect us, by the time he gets the results, it would be too late if he is positive. We could quarantine from him while waiting for the results. We're taking our chances, he doesn't have any symptoms, and his exposure was a week ago, so we're hoping he's negative. The quarantine leave is unpaid, but they will pay for one day if he gets tested and shares the results with them, so he will go ahead. If the health department really wants to suppress spread in these situations, there should be an easier, faster route for a group of exposed employees to get tested.

Today's tasks include pre operative physical, and a trip to Costco. Maybe an evening kayak paddle if it cools a bit and if it doesn't storm.

Liz what fun to go to a new restaurant! Summer weather really does help expand options with socializing, as well as meeting an interesting new dining companion!

Diet Coke crisis averted. Amazon Prime Now finally got it back in stock (at $6.98 for a 24 pack which is what I paid for 12 of the Coke Zero I didn't want at the grocery store!). I ordered 4 just to be greedy. It arrived in 2 hours. This is one benefit of city living!

Found this friend in my garden yesterday... baby Praying Mantis:

The jackhammering still continues.

No plans for today yet other than a Ferg stroll. Speaking of Ferg, this is the little prince in his favorite hidey hole wedged behind the side table and the wall. It comes with chin rests...

Have a good day everyone!

I want a Ferg snuggle! He's so cute!!!!!

I can so see myself with a Golden someday. I doubt it will ever happen, but I do love them. They are close to the perfect dog. I have no idea why i'm so devoted to my Airedales. LOL!

He loves men, he would totally let you snuggle. Me, not so much except for brief hugs and kisses. I can almost hear his long-suffering "Mooooommm!" complaint when I do it. You ought to have the experience at least once! Such loving, happy, gentle beasts. And they get along with everyone and everything, so you can keep having Airedales at the same time!

Only downsides are the shedding (which I honestly don't mind), potential for allergies (and the accompanying itching/ear infections/hotspots which can be easily controlled by meds), and cancer. Everything else makes up for all that though.

Weight- getting a bit closer to posting...

Nothing much cooking in Kansas except Kurt's garden which is all but given up on save tomatoes, peppers, okra, and maybe some winter squash. Lean year for fresh produce. The heat is on. Poor Swanny is not a hot weather kind of dog- has plenty of energy to burn inside, but disintegrates quickly as soon as we get out. I get a lot of the Welshie stink eye (translates, "I'm bored, Mom!") Me, too, I guess.

I look at this post and think it not worth submitting, but then these days there would be no submission (which is sort of where I'm at)- but just want to let all know I am still here and following- and so enjoy the sharing of your days! Hugs and smiles to all.
