Getting up from the floor/ground is not very easy for me either. Sometimes I sit in the hallway at school with a small group of students and chrome books. When it's time for me to get up, I joke with my students, this won't be pretty, look away! Some sweetheart always wants to help me, but it's just easier if I do it my way. My DH can still put on his pants standing, I have been sitting on the edge of the bed for years.

Yep, I would never consider trying to put on pants without sitting. I got a round of applause for getting up from the floor after we took high school reunion pictures. Sometimes I get on the floor having forgotten how hard it is to get up. ds

I have a friend who is 81 who can get up from the floor without using her hands - I am not sure I could EVER do that!

I made WW creamy tomato basil soup. Yum. My daughter made an elote corn salad for the 4th (about 1 point per serving). This evening, I mixed some of the corn salad into the soup. It was delicious! Things are getting pretty crazy around here! I am out.of.control.

Recipe for the corn salad would be much appreciated!

First and most importantly, the pendant is STUNNING! I did not know this was something that people did after a spouse dies. I find this gesture extremely touching and a testament to your loving relationship.

Covid anxiety hit me in earnest yesterday. I have a sore throat caused by post nasal drip. My sinuses on the right side are heavy and my ear is stuffy. All symptoms of summer time allergies for me, but I didn't feel right two evenings in a row. Of course, I thought, oh no, not again!!!! So far so good. It seems to be staying at just the sore throat and nasal congestion stage and I don't feel lousy this evening like I did that past three evenings after the sun went down.

Groomed 2 dogs today. Dog momma butchered them, but I'm awfully proud of her for giving it a good try. She did a really good job on their heads, but the rest of each dog looked pretty gnarly! Let's just say I could have done a better job left handed and blindfolded. Covid does bring out the tenacity in some people. I like that part of this.

I did not want to post today until I had fulfilled my self imposed obligation and goal of trying yoga for the first time. Today was the day my 6 week yoga challenge was to start. As luck would have it, my yoga mat arrived this morning. Yoga blocks and strap will arrive tomorrow. Since my yoga mat arrived, I really had no excuse to not start my challenge. So, after only mild, and highly acknowledged procrastination, I did my first yoga session late this afternoon.

Now, I'm just going to say that **** is hard! The instructor said it was designed to be hard and it is called Strength Foundations six week Challenge, but damn! I'm glad I already work out. I feel like my strength put me at a great advantage. What I found interesting was what was easier and what was harder. Until today I could do a plank and hold it for a minute(or so I thought). Well, with yoga man instructing me on what to contract and press and feel.... Push your toes into the floor, contract your abs and push your belly button to your spine, turn your inner elbows forward, squeeze your glutes, squeeze your shoulder blades down, elongate your spine, relax your neck, look just in front of you on the floor. OMG! I was done in 15 or 20 seconds. Started over3 or 4 times before that one plank exercise was done. It was also a push up plank, not a forearm plank, so that could have made a difference. Humbling, to be sure! The first ab exercise was hard for me, too. It involved using hip flexors, which are a brutal for me. Have always hated moves that work the hip flexors. Several of the moves were fairly easy for me though - Bridge, baby cobra, hip abduction and its opposite (can't remember what he called it), child pose, and the arm strengthening moves he did. It was only 30 minutes, but I was a sweaty mess. I have now taken a yoga class. Bucket list item checked off! I will continue with the challenge.

Food has been on track today. Can't say I'm displeased with my choices or behavior. I was bummed to see the scale move up again today, but I'm trusting the scale will eventually reflect my eating choices. If it doesn't, I will have to look at my eating choices and behaviors instead of getting frustrated with the scale and see if my expectations are in line with my eating and the subsequent consequences of the eating behaviors. Damn, this adulting thing around food sure is weird. It's good, but weird. I feel just a bit too Zen about it all. Maybe it's the yoga! LOL!

Diamond D. - Do yoga with me It will help you with your core strength. It is nice to be able to get up off the floor with ease and grace. Not sure if you know this about me, but that was one of my goals when I decided to get fit after WLS. I wanted to be able to go from lying on my back to standing up on two feet without using my hands to help me. Took me quite some time, but that goal has been achieved and even with all this regain, I can still do it. I do think that strength is so important. Even when we are a little overweight or a lot over weight we can still be strong. (PS - I know yoga is not on your list of priorities, but heck I'd enjoy the company!)
