VSG Maintenance Group
05/27/2020, Wednesday
Such excellent insights yesterday ! I read but didn't write. I got carried away aerating bare patches in the back yard, filling with bagged topsoil, aerating again and reseeding. I am 25 twenty pound bags into the project (only 12 of them yesterday). Two labs certainly take their tole on grass ! Today is my five (5) year VSG surgiversary ! I concur that WLS gave me the best odds of success. I paraphrased BB's reflection slightly, to fully resonate with my experience: An honest, ongoing examination of our evolving relationship with food and our bodies combined with a lifelong commitment to addressing resulting enlightenment, results in successful maintenance. Note: nowhere did I say that the number on the scale determines successful maintenance. The fact that we are all here and sharing indicates that we all recognize and respect the essential learning and adapting that comes in maintenance. Maintenance is a lifelong commitment, not a singular destination.
Liz, rereading is such a great habit. The same content with the benefit of time and or experience becomes much richer. I'm looking forward to hearing about tomorrow's grocery shopping trip! BB, your honest reflection of the past ten years of WLS was inspirational ! The girls looked sooo adorable in their FB Memorial Day photos ! DD, 1.8 down, living life as it presents itself. Enjoy your new drain when the skies let loose. Peps, your thinking is significantly evolved and you continue to do the hard work. Shirl, your meals and desserts always sound great. You pulsate pleasure when speaking about your grandbabies ! Enjoy every moment of your opportunity to focus on YOUR needs for the next six weeks! Diane, I'm eager to hear some great sugar snap pea ideas ! Great job getting your studio reopening plan approved !

Weight 122.8, WW Bluepoints 11. Up a pesky pound. Hearing about successes and struggles with WLS over time is immensely helpful. None of us ever knows exactly what is around the corner so we are lucky to have such a solid and diverse group to support all of us. I am missing a few of them lately!
Diane, you are an automaton with the yard work. I need to seed a few places and I have only gotten as far as putting grass seed on my shopping list. Speaking of which, how weird to be excited about doing that! And Friday I am going on a road trip with DS to get lobsters, shrimp, etc. at his fish supplier!
Yesterday I spent a couple of hours at the beach. It was heavenly and quite empty. I may do the same today, but I have a plumber coming. Did I mention that BIL shut off the shower valve for the outdoor shower in the fall to "help" me? That was after I had winterized it whi*****ludes leaving the valve open. So once again I have a burst pipe. I did the winterizing myself specifically so it would be done right and BIL undid it. Sigh... This year I will leave a sign.
I am missing DH more lately. I don't know if it is the aftermath of that bereavement group, being here in a home that we bought, decorated and expanded together (unlike Florida which was all me), or just time.
Anyway, time to change the laundry loads and get more coffee!
Have a safe and healthy day!

Good morning. I have a head cold or a big allergic reaction to something. Work is going to be a bit tough today... I just want to sleep :)
It rained an insane amount again yesterday evening, giving our new drain tile a work out.
Not much planned today. The rain is done for now, maybe some yard work if it dries out this afternoon.
We have tree pollen galore here - several types. My allergies are in high gear.

Greetings to all sweet souls, insightful minds and tender hearts that frequent this site. It is a pleasure to re-in-touch - I have so missed being around; smiles and cyber hugs all around.
All is well enough here- summer about to emerge and stuff beginning to pop up in the garden. DH and Swann are in town getting a good walk in. It has just been too darn wet and rainy 'round here to get out in the fields.
I am home - have been on a bit-o-a-medical adventure these past few weeks. I have been feeling excessively tired and down for some time now and had chalked it up to odd sleeping, social isolation, depression (which I do at times) and very poor choices in eating- overloading almost compulsively with refined carbs-sugars-seemingly very hungry all the time. ----. As it turns out, after much ongoing blood work and a few scans, it seems (the jury is still out deliberating) I'm dealing with

TOTAL POUNDS LOST- 200 (110 pounds lost before surgery, 90 pounds lost Post Op.diabetes in remission-blood pressure normal-cholesterol and triglyceride levels normal! BMI from 55.6 supermorbidly obese to 23.6 normal!!!!
Oop**** the send button-
with very low protein levels and way to high calcium and vit D. Scans show atrophy in the remaining part of my pancreas. This may mean I'm not producing enough of the enzymes needed to metabolize protein.- Thus the low energy and hungry all the time- which I tried to make up for with the constant carb fix- which further stressed the pancreas- instant sugar production-weight gain-no benefits yadayada.... Calcium levels may Thyroid and subsequent calcium pulling from bone marrow and further muscle wasting---yep, folks, I'm a bit of a hot mess.
So, the latest plan (as of Friday) is this: Little if any refined carbs to leave room for protein loading- deal with the lack of energy until my body catches up. I'm off vitamins for the time being and have a month to see if a reset is possible. We'll see.
In the meantime- lots of naps without the guilt. Tra-la. Intend to go back and see what's been cooking in your neck of the woods..best reading ever1

So great to hear from you, but sorry you have been feeling poorly. Hopefully you can get that protein in and absorbed and gain back your energy. Get some good power naps!
