Greetings all

Sorry to be AWOL. Not like I have much of anything else to do. Seems like some of us (DianeM, Liz, Shirley and most ) are using this time to get stuff done. I am using it to nap and goof off which is my job anyway. I do really miss the swimming pool. I am sure it would be safe for me to go dunk in it but the locker room is another matter. Wish I could go use the pool and get in my car and come home. but it would make for a wet car. such issues.

I made a sort of rattatouie yesterday. I say sort of because there was no egg plant. Red pepper, summer squash, onions and tomatoes. I tossed in a can of chick peas and topped with parmassian cheese. Quite good and a real veggie load. Since I can't seem to concentrate on a weight loss program I am going to make it a mission to get more veggies in. Our farmers market is operating but I just can't see going there and dodging people when the organic grocery has good stuff.

Tee Hee Diane M good on you for putting up the "dam" against the pool drainage. I think it is illegal to dump water on to other people's property - BB do you remember something like that from law school - I sort of do. If they had any brains they would run a flexible pipe to a storm drain.

Yep my only uncle was killed in WWII so I never met him. My dad served as a Sea Bee in the navy as he was an engineering student. He didn't talk about it much but read every WWII history book there was. My mother was in college. The war was so formative of that generation and culture following. As is any war.

DH just announced there are little sugar snap peas on the vines. Maybe I will spend the afternoon watching them grow. Actually I will go to the studio for a bit.

Yep the california university system is not going to open up in the fall - at least not as usual. But the national and state parks are though with rules. I was up in Trinidad yesterday and people were picnicking along the bluff where there is a spectacular view.

Sleeve is somewhat different 10 years out. I can certainly eat more. A big issue is eating too much too fast and then getting punished for it about 10 minutes later. I need to learn to stop and anticipate the discomfort that will follow.

Any movie recommendations? I am getting tired of the spook shows.

Take care all. Diane S

I eat WAY too fast as well which I partially attribute to high school when we were allotted 1/2 hour for lunch but most of that time was taken up by getting to the cafeteria and waiting in line. Even when not tracking food, I weigh my protein and try to make it comparable size at a restaurant because I also have eaten past capacity due to food gobbling and paid the price. I can't seem to slow it down no matter what I try though other than consuming wine with dinner which has other issues.

Good Morning All - Super cold this am - we got below zero overnight brrrrrrr Winter is just around the corner. Just about to put a Spanish Chorizo and Chicken dish in the oven. Loaded with red onion, oregano and orange zest - should be nice I hope :) Taking it over to DSS. Also just iced the Vanilla Slices I made - they are dessert. Yes I represent food to my family :)

Not a lot else planned. Load of washing is already hanging by the fireplace. DS just came and collected a bunch of things to drop off to my mum. We will head over to DSS place from 3pm when we finish work and spend time with them

Diane O - I will spend part of the week between both city house and farm. Got some lovely news last night - my best friend (the one with adult autistic sons) is coming up to spend the long weekend at the farm with me. Her DH will care for the boys. We get one on one time together so rarely - it is a true blessing. I plan to spoil her lots. Shes been wanting to come up since we bought the place over 3 years ago. Memories being made

Well I had best go and be productive. Not motivated but must be done

Have a good memorial day all

S

That is great news that your friend will get a break and you can spend quality time together! I was hoping my other SIL would come to visit next weekend, but she is still hiding out at home.
