Shirl, LOVED the Nanna story ! Ann, the 21 days to habituate has never resonated with me. Two solid months makes much more sense. Isolation is getting to me, and the weather sure doesn't help !! I've got to pick my top two desired behaviors to focus on. Being homebound and inside has increased grazing and decreased water intake (probably not wanting slider food to slide even more), so #1 is substituting hydration for grazing. Next, 10,000 steps are important to me (mentally and physically), so 5+ days a week, that MUST happen. My salon is remodeling to meet NY Covid-19 reopening requirements, so June 1st no longer looks like a realistic possibility. I have already decided on a short pixie I can maintain, if need be. I am letting my silver/white reclaim my head, so the short length will expedite. I can't/won't deal with an overdue coloring again, and I anticipate that the future will be dotted with closures. In NY, they have traced a high number of transmissions to salons, nails in particular. I have also decided that maintaining refills to ANC nails at home is NOT how I want to spend my time, and removing salon nails is also painful, time consuming and cumbersome...so no more nails for the foreseeable future. I will coach DC through foot massage and pedicures, however...great investment of time !!!

Food for thought on planning for self grooming. Luckily I never have manicures and do my own pedicures. And I can cut and somewhat highlight my hair. If I had to step it up on the highlighting I guess I could probably do that (last time I just painted a few on my roots).
Today may be our last beach day (we will go either today or tomorrow, whichever is better). Unlike Naples beaches which were apparently overrun over the weekend and had to re-close, our beaches are super quiet thank goodness.
I have an online appointment with my PCP this morning because my BP has been running a bit high and I need a revision to my meds. He wasn't available for a while because he was assigned to work with patients at a field hospital set up in Boston. So he is now available but only online. I am also feeling paranoid this morning about some pain I have been feeling in my lower right belly since last night. It feels like gas/constipation but has been sharply painful off and on since mid-evening yesterday. Of course, I googled the symptoms and found out that they fit appendicitis, which I really would not want to have to deal with right now. Hopefully it is nothing but gas/constipation...
Have a good day and stay safe and healthy!

Mostly older and working adults live in my area. We are halfway between Fort Myers and Siesta Key which are the beaches which draw a lot of people in this part of a Florida. We are too far to drive from the Miami area for a day trip though Naples is halfway between us and Miami (Miami-Dade and Broward County beaches are still closed). Also, the hotels are still closed in our area and most snowbirds have gone home already.

Liz, I hope your tummy pains are nothing serious.

They seem to be mostly going away. Thanks Ann. I think my son's hypochondria is rubbing off a bit.

Who knew personal grooming choices would become such a thing? And they are really personal. Diane, I used to do salon nails, and it was a part of my self image. I stopped the nails, because after a few years the hassle of maintaining them outweighed the pleasure of having them, but when I loved them, I really loved them. Red lipstick and red toenails are part of me. Even if this could be viewed as superficial, I just don't feel like myself without them. I'm wondering if letting go of some of your routines was a sad, but necessary decision, or was it freeing to imagine something different?

DianeO, thanks for starting us off this morning.
Yesterday I got much accomplished (3 hours weeding, hauling timber, and bushwhacking). But in the process I lost one of my AirPods AND my Fitbit with no hope of ever finding them again. In the afternoon I drove to Walmart and replaced them, but that gardening effort cost me extra $200. Yuck! I can also hear some of you wondering ... WHY in the world was she wearing her AirPods outside while standing on her head weeding and lifting heavy timber?! I can only say that I was a bloody idiot, and I won't ever do that again.
Then in the late afternoon I received some terrible news--yesterday morning one of my brothers-in-law (who cares for one of my sisters who's on hospice at home and bed-bound with COPD and dementia) had a stroke and is in the hospital awaiting surgery/treatment. Their children (in their 40s and 50s) are now facing multiple, tough caregiving decisions and responsibilities for both parents. This news has devastated our family. The good news is that all their children are smart and responsible. Still, after caring for my own mom for 12 years, I know how heavy this burden will feel to them.
DianeO already anticipated this next topic: Following on yesterday's post that "it takes 66 days on average to build and groove in a new habit," here's a question for anyone who cares to respond: If you were to choose a healthy new habit to build in the next two months, what would it be? Mine would be to drink four glasses of water every day.
Today's plans are for more weeding and gardening (sans AirPods) and some errands and reading in the afternoon. I'm also craving no more bad news of any kind and greater peace, although I suppose the second part of my wish is, to some degree, under my control.

If you haven't already, you might try the Find My Phone app that comes on your iPhone (except you use it to find your AirPod). https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-find-lost-airpods-app le-find-my-iphone-2018-8
Edit: I hadn't gotten to your sister and brother in law when I stopped to reply. I'm so sorry. What a terrible situation for the whole family.
