Friday May Day 2020
Crud - darn OH just wiped out my post!
Weight 122.6, WW Bluepoints 8.
Did any of you celebrate May Day in the past? I remember May Day celebrations as a child near Philadelphia where we would dress up in our new spring clothes and dance around the May Pole weaving the streamers. May Day in that part of the country involved a fair number of warm days and flowers. I have lived in Massachusetts since I was 8 and more typically early May is rainy and gloomy as it is this year. Very depressing for everyone already inside too much because of the pandemic. I hope some warmer dry days arrive by the time I am home in two weeks.
Question: How do you feel about looking matchy-matchy with someone? I HATE it! I feel foolish if it is someone near me, but don't even like it when someone else at an event has the same dress. SIL seems to be doing it a lot lately. Which is okay when it is by accident, but sometimes she has already seen what I am wearing. Almost exact colors/print, similar short/top combination, similar printed belt. Lately she is showing up in sunglasses EXACTLY like the ones I have worn for several years, but are totally different from her typical style. What's up with that??? I find myself changing...
Today we may go to the beach again and have a ****tail zoom with SIL in Massachusetts at 5. SIL here is making a WW bolognese for dinner. Yummm...
Stay safe, stay home, stay healthy!

Haven't thought about May Day since I was a kid, and we used a tether ball pole. I seem to have skipped from May Day to Cinco de mayo. The weekend is looking good ! We had our Orkin tick treatment Wednesday, then 1.5" of rain Thursday, so hope some of it penetrated. Mixed up more of my weedkiller to spray today ( 1 gallon vinegar, 2 cups Epsom salt, ¼ cup Dawn dish soap). It works great, smells like a salad, and won't hurt Sadie and Atlas ! We're hoping to walk in a local park later... just depends on how many people are there when we arrive.

Liz-I like matching on kids, and coordinating on spouses etc. So I plan to dress my girls matching, or same fabric different style. My SIL will literally put her husband in the exact same shirt as her and I feel sorry for her husband lol. But I will coordinate with my husband. Example: Easter we were wearing navy and pink. He put on a pink shirt and black pants. I asked him to change to navy! Basically I pick a dress shirt that would be complimentary of my dress. My sister and I, especially when we knew there would be lots of pictures taken, would try to dress similarly. But yeah, not matching. I think the closest we've done in recent memory was both in polka dot dresses, but hers was navy/white, and mine was hot pink/white. And even that might've been too much lol
I hope you all are getting nice weather. We're going to be in the 90s for the weekend. Looks like it's time to heat the pool again.
Have to go deal with SIL's house, etc today. Cannot have boyfriend living there. What a mess.
Today a lot of things reopen in Okc. But so many of the rules seem arbitrary. Gatherings of more than 10 aren't allowed, yet you can go to the gym and dining rooms are open?! I think the main thing is there are supposed to be very strict guidelines to those things. And for that reason, most churches, restaurants, and movie theaters remain closed because it's very hard or uneconomical to open up at such a low attendance. But some retailers are opening although I did not think they were in phase 1. At the same time, I can see where if people aren't just congregating it would be easier to maintain a greater distance at a retail store than at a salon, theater, church, or restaurant. It's just all really arbitrary and I guess no one knows what will happen so I just hope it's all okay and we'll see.
The silly-in-the-scheme-of-things-but-disappointing-nonetheless news today is that my town has canceled its 4th of July celebration. It's a big one. A lot of people feel they made the decision too early. Feels like summer is getting canceled now, too. I'm 98% sure our vegas trip will be canceled yet again. That's okay. I kind of figured. We have a family vacation scheduled in August. We'll see.
My town in Massachusetts has cancelled ALL EVENTS until 8/31. A couple of them are a huge draw for tourists so the tourist industry must have been really bummed.
I think the matchy-matchy is bugging me a lot because we have now spent too much time together and SIL rarely does anything unless I initiate it (won't visit friends here, won't go to the pool unless I do, waits to take a shower or eat until I do...).

WOW! I guess we'll see how this all pans out. I'm thinking July/August may be the safest times before it comes back in the fall. But hopefully it'll all be gone for good. I'm reduced to optimism. On all accounts. Hoping that my husband still has a job, hoping that this virus becomes much less. Hoping.
Our town postponed its 4th of July festival, it lasts 10 days, so that's a lot of cancelled events. They have rescheduled for a pared down festival in September, it will be 3 days. I would assume that would include fireworks and the parade. Who knows if it will actually happen.
We still have our rescheduled trip to NYC on the calendar for August 15. I don't expect Broadway to be open. But maybe museums, because they can control the number of people within the building... might be wishful thinking. My daughter says not to get my hopes up, trip might not be feasible. I know that's true, but it makes me happy to think about it, so I'm still planning. I won't be crushed though, if it doesn't happen, more like incredulous and elated if it does.
LOL! I will!

That's what came to mind for me to. It's just so... bizarre. My bff doesn't copy my look, but she literally steals my stories. I share a story about a student interaction at dinner, and then she actually repeats the story verbatim to my own husband except it happened between her and a student when she taught 20 years ago. So she doesn't seem to be aware she's doing it, or she wouldn't repeat it to DH, who originally heard me tell the story. My daughter tells me it's a common phenomenon between close family members and friends. It has a name, but I forget what it is. So maybe your sil doesn't even notice she's doing it, she thinks that those sunglasses are her style, your choices are exactly what she was going to do...
