Greetings Sheltered Ones
Though this experience is indeed terrible, we should all be grateful for our safe homes. I was listening to NPR yesterday about people in Brazil who live in those cardboard slums and how awful the health conditions are there.
Yep DianeO, call the exterminator. We had a terrible time with these little black ants. They were into everything all the time. Our town is one giant anthill . Anyway we have a service come and they spray the outside once a month with a chrysanthemum based product that is supposed to be pet safe. No pet issues. WE have them on a contract and it is so worth it.
News is suggesting perhaps the peak has been reached in NYC on the virus. Sure hope so. It will ooze its way across the nation. The early lock down in CA does seem to have helped. My poor brother lives in terror of the virus since he is sure it will kill him. I don't worry too much until I see news reports of a 50 year old who ran 80 marathons in his life has died. Scientists are trying to figure out how it seems to just flatten some healthy people and not others.
We had a zoom board meeting today for the gallery. I feared I would butt heads with our president as we seemed to be disagreeing on how to handle our closure with our landlord. He did come around to my point of view but he is a man so never admitted he was wrong - acted like my approach was all his idea. But I got my way.
Went out yesterday to get studio payroll. Staff was glad to see the checks. I worked in my little studio for awhile which is private and has a door so I can hide out.
What to do for dinner? Goulash all gone. Chicken nuggets sounds good but sounds like they are in short supply. BB, you may have to drive through mcdonalds and get a huge order to keep those kids happy.
Yep I am longing for some bedding plants. The local nursery is open short hours and closing for an hour at noon to disinfect the store. Not sure how much good that will do but I respect it. The Hippy food coop also has some bedding plants and usually nice ones. Hard to justify going out for that.
Any hey, my messed up OH page healed itself. No clue why as I had shut down and rebooted many times and tried different browsers. Oh well.
In times of stress I always want mexican food. I am sure someplace would oblige me with take out.
We got some home made masks from our studio director. Very cute.
Not much else. Trip to the bank using the nite deposit. Cheers. Diane
Aaaaand....DH's company had layoffs today.
THANK GOD he survived. He was going to not "go in" (and by that, I mean log in) today and start his bereavement instead but someone told him to hang tight.
I almost felt like "do what you'll do."
Did you know that you can buy a barrel of oil for cheaper than a 12pc fried chicken meal?
But alas we're lucky to have a job.
I'm trying to think of positive but crap keeps falling out of the sky. I'm also starting to worry that Rich's lab might be sick. Maybe it's just aging but she's acting odd. She had diarrhea all on our patio, the morning his sister died she'd pooped all over the bedroom, she doesn't want to go outside and even has to be encouraged to come eat (maybe she's worried we'll put her outside?) She's about 9.5 years old.
DD-can you use a whole fryer chicken? Crumb! My walmart didn't have frozen chicken--or really any chicken or ground beef whatsoever--for ordering. Is there a restaurant he loves that you could get pickup or delivery enchiladas? Here they have even relaxed the liquor laws to allow for delivery liquor!
BB, sorry for the loss in your family. So sudden and at times like these it is worse because of distancing.
Devon, so sorry for your loss of Ella too. I know you were very close to her.
My eating is a little better. Weight ? Not down. Mood has been holding mostly steady since I have been taking 2700mg of EPA omega 3 oil. My baseline I fight the agoraphobic behavior. I force myself to get out of the house / shop all the time. When I can run the sawmill I can leave the shop to go get wood. When the weather is nice I do get out to mow. Last year Adalyn would ride with me. This year she does not like the noise of the mower, tractor or anything. She loves to be outside so I am outside too.
The redbud trees and the dogwood are in full bloom around here. The woods are painted with color. I have seen a snake while mowing. The deer have been so brave. They come up in the yard even with the dogs. The turkeys have been gobbling. And the coyotes have been singing closer at night.
Adalyn is fascinated with water. I have taken her to the creek and we threw rocks to splash the water. When we leave she has a come apart. She kicks off her shoes. We have a spot in our driveway that frequently has water running across it. We went down there. When it was time to come back she kicked off her shoes, and refuses to walk. You can tell her you are going and if she is calm enough she will tell you bye. I picked up her shoes and her. Threw her over my shoulder and hiked back uphill to the shop. That will let you know right quick what an extra 30 lbs feels like.
Stay safe, David

A creek runs through this property. It is mostly shallow gravel and sand bottom. It does get deep enough to get wet in the curves. No cows trashing it up yet but should be fenced this summer. Banks are mostly clean so hopefully you can see the snakes first.
