Diane, my heart aches for your DD. Such a difficult job in all ways right now.

Good Morning All,

Waking up after a wakeful night. Didnt need pain relief - more achy as I still have to sleep in one position on my back and my "ol" body doesnt like it. It was nice to lay awake listening to the rain.

My mum has settled in well and feels at home I think. We had her chopping up Tomatos yesterday afternoon. The first 28lbs of mix sat overnight and DH will cook it up tonight. Chutney is stage one :) We will also do Relish and Homemade Sauce. I sat and chopped the ingredients for Chicken and Leek Pies then made it - being careful to take breaks so I wasnt standing too long. It was delicious.Have 2 small ones to give away.Finding my balance between overdoing it and staying active enough so that the joint doesnt seize. Physio is happy with me and has given me a new set of exercises. Harder of course. Shes hoping to get me to 100 degrees consistantly by tommorrow. I still have a lot of swelling so Im icing 3 x a day. Had the wound checked and re-dressed yesterday as it was weeping and very wet down the bottom were they struggled to get the staples out. My GP is happy with it so I feel a little more at ease.

Basically back working full time. And very thankful that it looks like we wont have to take a reduction in hours, use up our leave etc etc to weather this. The Australian Government has announced 3 aid packages - the main one is a "job keeper" package. Any small business that has experienced a 30% or more drop in incomings qualifies for a fortnightly payment for each of their staff.

Just got a text from my youngest son - hes been injured at work. Unloading a cable tray and other person dropped it as it was cutting their hands, right as my son went to help unload. Its cut above his knee badly. They are arriving at hospital now as it will need stitches. Hoping that there is no ligament or nerve damage. Ive talked to him but cant go to him :( He will call me once hes been seen. Im praying he doesnt have to wait in Emergency too long but his will be a low priority in comparison to whats going on.

I had better get back to work

Love to you all x

Update - my son is back at his Dads with 4 stitches. Rest of the week off work then light duties next week - He is an electrician

Good news is it bounced off the bone covering knee cap and didnt cut any nerves etc. I had had my eldest son go and get him paracetamol and have asked him to rest with his leg up. Hes a little like me in that regard and would likely see the "free time" a grand opportunity to go work on his 4 Wheel Drive !

Apparently one of the guys didnt put on safety gloves before going to unload the cable trays - they are exceptionally sharp. My son and another electrician went to help him as he started to drop them as it was cutting into his hands. My son copped it above the knee and the other guy on his wrist. Both have had stitches but are ok. So Im thankful.

Shirl, I'm so glad your son didn't do any lasting damage!
